Is Shopping Express any good? I'm mad and don't care about HODL and $1399 seems to be the best deal out there until everyone stops hoarding GPUs for mining/supply chains magically fix themselves/COVID disappears

I bought a different part from them and the shipping was extremely fast.

I purchased most of my new rig with them, had DOA ram and they were really good with the exchange and I've had many positive experiences with them over the past.

    • Fast delivery, good customer support I’ve experienced

    • Picked up a few items from them recently, no issues at all.

    • Yep, fast shipping and no problems I've ever had. I got the same 3070ti off them couple of weeks ago for same price and super happy with it!

BPC Tech still shows as in stock for the 3070 ti if you want to save that $12 on shipping

    • BPC have been scalping GPUs from the start, wouldn't buy out of principle

      • +1

Who hasn't been scalping gpus from the start. By that logic you shouldn't be buying from anyone.

  • Is it worth upgrading a 2070 Super to this? Running with a R5 3600.

    • I don't think so, it's a jump in performance but for the price you would want a doubling of performance and you're more likely going to see approximately 40%

    • someone posted this yesterday https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html

so you would going from a 60% score to an 80% score

im currently running a 1070ti which sits at 40%, and i dont know that i could justify it to myself these days, and it wouldnt be me worth moving to a lower model.

      • Thanks for that link - very useful.

  • Looks like 3070Ti also stuck at $1399 and won't go down too much further

Perhaps once the 16gb SKUs start showing up you might see some 8gb varieties dropping

    • yeah, caved in and dropped 1500 on a 3070ti, my 1060 died and i really dont have a choice :(

@cephh - Did you order that EVGA FTW3 card? I would say that $100 premium is worth it compared to this Gigabyte Model.

The GDDR6X memories on 3070tis tends to run very hot, so it would be good idea to spend money on better built cards like FTW3/Strix

I did! Hopefully it comes in soon, latest date is this upcoming tuesday

Hard to justify 8gb when spending this kind of money. Future proof with 16gb if you can hold out. 8gb caps these days, especially with 2k and above resolution.

    • Do you think paying a bit more for a 6800 XT 16GB better value/more future proof than a good deal on a 3070 Ti 8GB?

      • That's the direction I'm leaning, and I'm just waiting for a decent price on the 6800XT.

      • +1

It’s hard because Nvidia has inherent driver benefits. But for the long run I’d go 16gb.

        • The bandwidth has just as much impact. I.e GDDR6X, a ~40%+ increase over GDDR6.

          For 4k more the better

  • This is tempting.
Anything to get the flakey 5700xt drivers off my system.

The second you run more than 3 unique refresh rates at once (gaming monitor + side monitor + VR) crashes become random as heck.

Where's the HODL brigade? I'm dissapointed.

  • Its $1499 now

I finally caved……. need an upgrade from this 1070 ffs

  • How can people afford to pay $1000s on GPU used solely for gaming?

It doesn't look like gamers have money problems.

    • Its just another hobby/leisure activity.
Think how much people spend on camping, fishing etc. At least gaming can be done more often. Its how I internallyy justify the spend. Hours/cost=LeisureKudos
