  • it's s good price. They also have Google Nest for $49 instead of $149, but that is sold out. So this Doorbell may sell out at any moment, too.

  • I heard these are laggy on non android phones. How do they go on Android phones? Is it really as bad as people say

    • Majority of the time, works fine on my iPhone 12. Delays are < 5 seconds when it occurs.

      • +3

Delivery Person: "On my 3, run!"

    • iPhone 12 Pro Max here. Works absolutely fine.

      • That’s what Apple says !!!

    • Lag is usually enough, that people will knock also… was thinking of connecting a wired chime to mitigate this.

How have you posted 18 deals and 1268 comments and yet still don't know the title guidelines.

    • -1

      Their username should be digitallame

      • +17

        You need new knowledge then…

      • Your knowledge is wrong. Why do you think title guidelines exist? Why do you think title guidelines are highlighted underneath the title box when you post?

      • +1

        mods likely manually revised

    • +7

Probably got lazy and expected the mods to fix it all!

      • Mods should just delete these lazy posts imo.

        • -1

I thought jv fixed them all up !!

common guys, he posts deals for us, give him a break

      • +6

Time is of the essence for big discount deals like this - hopefully some people managed to get the deal even with my incorrect description - but glad you have so much time on your hands to pick holes in things

        • +1

Nice work bud - appreciated this end.

        • +1

If that’s the case why not edit it after you have posted? - It’s ok to be lazy!

    • +2

I'm still not sure why they don't have validated form fields so you can't submit without all the information. Then it could format the title and be unifrom for all deal posts.

  • Thanks Op

  • not just instore, but Online order as well!

    I don't think Op knows it's Telstra Day -> https://exchange.telstra.com.au/telstra-day-february-2022/

      Telstra Day

Do all the staff get a holiday ?

Payment outright is 229 but repayments is 228.96? I'm going for the 4cents Ozbargain option!

  • I'm thinking of getting this, but the issue is I have a rental so I can't screw this into the wall. Is there a really strong sticky option anyone recommends for this?

    • It will be gone before you know it!

    • Wurth or 3M double sided tape. In my experience, once wurth takes hold its not going anywhere unless you yank it off. Doesn't mean it won't get stolen though, just won't randomly drop. You should also consider the type of surface you're trying to stick it on to (glass, wood, brick etc) before going the adhesive route.

  • This or Eufy T8200CJ1 Video Doorbell?

    • +1

I had the Eufy battery doorbell and loved it - it wasn't perfect, was a little flakey, but then the Homebase died.

But the best thing was local storage, and no monthly fee for cloud-like functions.

At the moment I'm using this Google option withOUT the monthly add-on, and it's good, but the fact you lose some functions 3 hours after an event is annoying, (but in ozbargain tradition, not annoying enough to make me pay the extra !!

  • +1

    absolutely love mine.

  • Doh, I ordered but I think I was after the wired version instead of the battery one.

Will see how the lag goes with this one I guess.

    • +3

There's no separate version. This come with a battery and also permanent connections should you choose.

      • Awesome, thanks. Glad I grabbed one then headed off to do some reading.

  • OOS :(

  • Note these only have 3 hrs of history without a subscription, and that's only recording "events" not continuous.

    • is there a door bell which gives more than 3 hours? I know eufy has option of 4gb storage for their 2k camera, not sure how many hours it can store for tiny 4gb card which is not expandable atm.

  • Does it come with an indoor chime? If not, how does it ring inside the house?

    • Pair it with Google Nest Hub will give you a camera view and sound when someone press the door bell.

      • Does it ring on Google home app on a mobile device?

        • +1

Yes. Doorbell notification on mobile and you can see and talk to the person at the door. And you can also set up zones to monitor for specific activity (people, vehicles, animals, parcels, motion etc).
Used it while I was away for three months and battery lasted the whole time.

          • @aj3000: No ring - which can be annoying if you seems to miss a notification if driving etc. Google mini would announce as an audio (someone’s at the door) pretty cool

    • When someone presses the doorbell it'll ring any Google devices in your home, and tell you who's at your door if it recognises their face - i think the facial needs a subscription.

If you have any Google display devices they will automatically start streaming the video when someone presses the doorbell.

Your phone can also get notified on other various events, but two of the most useful are if it spots someone delivering a package to you without ringing your doorbell, and if a package left at your door is taken away.

  • Seems to be still be available on Telstra Plus for 2,500 points plus $222 https://checkout.telstra.com.au/consumer/rewards/technology-…

    • That's the cam I think. Doorbell is OOS

      • Ooops - sorry wrong link - must've gone there too :(

  • People can easily steal these.

  • If these get stolen, is there a measure in place where these will be rendered useless?

    • Who cares if Google gives you a replacement? But they'll make sure it won't go live again.

    • It is tied to your Google Home account. There is nothing the thief can do with it.

      • press reset button?

    • It's pretty hard to steal given the way they lock into the frame. If a criminal is willing to steal this then they are probably pretty close to just smashing a window and going into your home.

  • missed it :(

  • Anyone have any previous experience with Telstra Day - is it in store as well?

  • +1

Thanks OP, I had office works price beat and just picked up.

  • LMAO typical Telstra, I ordered the doorbell went through fine. I then went and saw the nest cam and ordered that. They’ve just emailed me saying they’ve noticed “two identical orders” on my account and gone ahead and cancelled one…..they cancelled the doorbell and now say they have no stock and can’t supply or give a rain check at that price, they’re “going to see” if they can cancel the camera as it’s already processed to shipping….and I have to talk to someone else to cancel the nest hub max I bought with points plus payment in the rewards store as I told them all three were to be used together and it’s not my fault they cancelled something that was for a completely different product but thought it was “identical”
