  • I'm not much of a gamer but this is the one I've been waiting for on PS5. I've not had past experience with Mighty Ape - are they AU stock or are they grey import type stuff like ozgameshop? How's the shipping speed as well (i.e. even if they ship the day before the official release, would it even arrive that week…)

    • Can't speak on the shipping speed, but they are an online Australian store with AU stock.

(Also I am incredibly excited for this game as well!)

I called JB and got them to price match, cost $65 approx cause they included the postage price of mighty ape

Mighty Ape are NZ-based and majority of their titles are AU/NZ region. Some are UK but will show on the cover art. Shipping takes a couple of days and the $7 delivery charge kills most deals.

Ozgameshop are UK based and UK region games. Not grey imports but also terribly misleading name.

Amazon are doing the switch version for $64.90

  • Amazon matching (factoring in shipping) at $64.90 - https://www.amazon.com.au/LEGO-STAR-EPISODE-Nintendo-Switch/…

    EDIT: Beaten to it above

  • Thanks Op, waiting for the JB Hifi steel book edition to drop in price - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/nintendo-switch-lego-star…

Seeing as its a JB exclusive, I would highly doubt it.

      • Guess I’ll have to fork out the extra $20 for the steel case…😢

  • +3

hopefully amazon match the other ones, but i kinda want the steelbook from JB

    • +1

Same here - I think i'm going to ring both of my locals and see if they can PM

  • It doesn't seem like it comes with pre-order bonuses like Luke w/ blue milk or the steelbook just in case anyone wanted those. Only reason why I pre-ordered through EB Games tbh.

    • Steelbook is a JB exclusive, just fyi.

      • Ah righto. I guess the figure is EB exclusive then, since that's the only place I've seen it too. Wish I can get both in one pre-order.

    Come on amazon price match

  • Any chance of this getting onto Gamepass? Have noticed that there aren't many Lego games on Gamepass

    • +2

I doubt it, at least for the foreseeable future. The only LEGO games I recall being on Game Pass are LEGO Movie Videogame, LEGO City something and LEGO Dimensions, but they all left quite a while ago (and only came to Game Pass many years after their release).

Looking to history, I'd expect it to be more likely to come to Games with Gold instead of Game Pass — again, that would be a long time after launch. Quite a few LEGO games given away there, including a few earlier LEGO Star Wars titles, albeit mostly of the Xbox 360 generation.

  • Have there been any reviews on the game, specifically on the Switch. I would like to know how it performs.

Anyone comment on past Lego games when comparing it to other platforms? Never played a Lego games, but keen on this.

    • +2

way too far out from release for reviews. They aren't likely to hit until a few days before release.

Past games and this aren't likely to be an true test judging by the fairly big changes to gameplay that they are doing with this title (based on the gameplay video they released the other day). Some of those include increased cover shooting mechanics, health bars and what looks like a more complex combat system that appears to have different methods and counters based on the character you are playing as well as special powers based on the class (Jedi, Smuggler, Bounty Hunter)

In general, the Star Wars Lego games have been the best they made and consistent since the first Lego SW game (which was based on eps 1-3) right through 4-6 and Clone Wars games. There was a decent (although a little bloated) game for Force Awakens most of the bloat came from trying to pad out a single movie into a game long enough game to warrant the price tag.

Awesome, thanks for the run down.

The struggle of choosing whether to get this on PS5 or Switch

    • I’m going to get it on the switch…doubt Lego graphics would make much difference on a ps5 plus you can take it over to a mates house and play two players with the joycon on the switch. 😃

  • Why hasn't the Amazon pre-order price guarantee kicked in yet? Is Mighty Ape not eligible for it?
I've given it a few days but it's usually much quicker than this.

    • I ended up getting an exact price match at JB. Was just quicker and easier that way.

seems amazon finally matched just PS5 version at $64.90
