expired Acer Aspire S3-951-2364G34iss Ultrabook $488 after HN Cash Back
This was posted 1 year 1 month 3 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal
This in store pic clearly show $788 - $300 = $488 (Thanks John Kelvin for the pic)
http://upload.ozbargain.com/2012/04/21/8256_acers3.jpg (link updated)
There is already a post about the $300 cash back for Ultrabook but according to that post most people checked with Harvey Norman yesterday said that the discounted models are not included.
But today I have checked several Harvey Normans all said the $300 Cash Back includes all Ultrabook no matter what price they are. Gordon NSW store even checked with head office and confirmed.
So this post is just to remind people about this special and see if you can find the $788 Acer S3 Ultrabook but most store already sold out.
Because this is really a bargain a lot of people may misleaded and miss out if they read the previous ozbargain post.
I bought one today for $788 if anyone called HN and they said no, ask them to call their Head Office to confirm. I am 100% sure about this because i have passed by a few HNs today and asked. Finally found one with stock.
If you think this a dup please delete.
I would suggest here who bought it for $788 before cash back please give me a +ve so that we will know how many ozbargainers got it at this price :)

+2 votesI'm having some reservations about this one because the form mentions products purchased at the 'advertised price' only and this http://www.harveynorman.com.au/promos/300-cashback?intcmp=HN... states that the lowest priced i3 is $797 after the cash back. Also, in the T&Cs,
The Cashback offer is made solely by the relevant franchisee where the claimant made their original purchase, and the relevant franchisee reserves the right to vary, modify or cancel the offer at any time without notice.

looks real good
i'd suggest you replace the drive with a cheap SSD and really fly

garratt torlesse on 21/04/2012 - 08:39 ¶I thought these already have something like a 8GB mSata SSD on board already.
+1 votesuperforever on 21/04/2012 - 10:06 ¶20GB SSD on board but according to Windows Disk Manager it said it is a hibernation partition.

Despite not only being told verbally it's included, I was also handed the cashback while paying for it.
There's a special kind of hell that will be raised in-store if it's not honoured. However, I'm a trusting kinda guy and I'll presume a minor apocalypse won't be necessary till evoked.
superforever on 20/04/2012 - 18:59 ¶Ask them to call head office to clarify, other HNs sold out the S3 because of this $300 offer.
superforever on 20/04/2012 - 19:29 ¶Asked them to check their head office, too many of ozbargainers already bought it at this price.

You know what the problem with that logic is.
You assume that HN cares about their customers, where is the only thing they really care about is profit, at the end of the day if their accounting says, nop we are going to lose too much money. they will eat their own words with no honour.
Considering no staff will be fired and the cash back is from the "Head office" the sales people don't care.
I'm not saying you won't get cash back. But I wouldn't fall for those marketing traps, for 300$ I wait for Ivy Bridge thank you very much!
superforever on 21/04/2012 - 15:54 ¶I don't think they want to get into ACCC trouble.
Like DSE they honour the $20 Logitech G27 Wheel even it was a price error.
+2 votesI went down to my local, Now I previously posted they said it was off RRP.
I took a look and ALL the Previous Sales prices were GONE, and only the WHITE sticker with the RRP or a Sign with he RRP was visable. SO While looking for the S3(had NONE) I was approached by a salesperson. I asked what the price of the HP I3 was, (it Said $1199) and he said $996.. SO I said I pay $996 and get the $300 cashback and he said Yes. I mentioned I called the day before and was advised otherwise, he responded OH that was a misunderstanding that ANOTHER store had made???
Anyway I got my HP Ultrabook for $696 so I am happy.Cheers
+1 votecheapskateasian on 20/04/2012 - 20:10 ¶I picked up this Ultrabook exactly a week ago for $688 from Officeworks. Price beat "Electronics Bazaar" price of $725.
Good ultrabook. Super thin, super light, and super fast. It's basically a replica of the maacbook air and even the touch pad is the same with the two finger scroll and zoom.
BUT it's only a 3 cell battery
+3 votesAs I mentioned in the other thread I purchased 2x i3 S3 Ultrabooks at $788 from HN Aspley and was assured by both the department manager and the salesman that these notebooks are included in the $300 cashback. Typing on my bad boy right now;)
I'm travelling on Sunday so I'll be claiming on the TRS. Should bring it down to $416.
+3 votesJohn Kelvin on 20/04/2012 - 20:51 ¶I can confirm it. I saw them in the store near my house are advertised at $488. 788 - 300 = 488.
superforever on 20/04/2012 - 21:00 ¶I tried to ask them to see if they can price match JB for the ASUS and claim cash back.
The guy said either one, so finally bought the Acer.
+2 votesfroz3nflam3s on 20/04/2012 - 21:54 ¶it has a separate 20gb SSD for the OS and 320gb for storing other stuff
+2 votespoporange630 on 20/04/2012 - 22:40 ¶The 20gb SSD is only for hibernating and is not for OS, however you can do some crack and install a windows on it.
+1 votesuperforever on 20/04/2012 - 22:40 ¶Is not for Windows itself just for caching, etc. Like Ready Boost I think.
I have it and just checked Windows is on the 320GB drive.
+4 votesI went to HN thurs IKEA springvale VIC. They jacked the price up to $987 and say $300 off= $687. Tried to argue with the sales guys, there were 2 of them, they say either $987 RRP minus $300. or $788 at special price no more discount. So i just walked off….faking misleading ad.
+1 voteMelbourneTightArse on 21/04/2012 - 00:54 ¶Same crap at Hoppers Crossing. The sales guy denied HN increased the price.

+3 votessuperforever on 21/04/2012 - 10:18 ¶Just buy it at the special price $788 and you don't need the form from them.
Just download it here I think should be OK because the form I have also a printed copy.
bargainjargon on 21/04/2012 - 17:57 ¶Cheers, bought one from HN Moore Park for $788. It was advertised as part of the $300 cashback ultrabooks so no issues there.
superforever on 21/04/2012 - 18:03 ¶bargainjagon, you mean they have a poster shows $788-$300=$488?
Did you take a photo?
bargainjargon on 21/04/2012 - 18:20 ¶superforever, sorry I didn't take a photo but all they had were a bunch of Acer laptops under this big $300 off ultrabooks banner but nowhere did it say $788 - $300 = $488. But it was brought up several times verbally (not just to me but I overheard them mention it to other customers) that it was $788 - $300 for the cashback. At no point was there a question whether it was part of the cashback promo or not.
By the way, I also called them up yesterday and this morning and both times they said it was included in the cashback promo.
0zb4rg41n3r on 21/04/2012 - 18:16 ¶I rang my local store to get the $788 price and the cash back, I was pointed to the terms of the offer which said not in conjunction with any other offer and not available on discounted or catalogue items, they have that on the website as well and the advertised models said "special offee" on the price page.
I ended up buying regardless, I still think it was a great deal to pass on.

superforever on 21/04/2012 - 10:10 ¶I bought it from Gordon NSW but the last non display one.
I asked Castle Hill, Balgolwah all out of stock but they confirmed $788 before cash back.
You better ring all the stores near you or where you can go.
test123123, they will only do $788 and give you to form to claim $300 cash back yourself.
LaptopFactoryOutlet on 21/04/2012 - 09:27 ¶I am doubtful the $788 model has cashback… If it did, how come their advertisement does not mention such a great deal? See this link; http://harveynorman.com.au/promos/300-cashback?intcmp=HNAU-5...
If I had an ultrabook that cheap i'd surely be posting it on my website specials instead of a higher model for $797, seems like a herp derp move if you ask me!
superforever on 21/04/2012 - 10:13 ¶You don't believe those peoples already bought and was told and have the form to claim cash back. Some even saw the $488 ads in store.
The form will go to somewhere at Silverwater, nothing to do with the HN store you bought.
Form posted before.
humdingaling on 21/04/2012 - 18:57 ¶Agree with Dereko comments
Fine print on this
Cashback applies to products purchased at the advertised price only.confirmed with APCMAG website
http://apcmag.com/amazing-savings-300-off-ultrabooks-at-harv...The savings apply to the retailer's normal ticketed pricing (not to any already discounted prices). To get an idea for what that regular ticket pricing is, you can take a look at Harvey Norman online. The prices you see there are generally indicative of what you'd normally pay in a Harvey Norman outlet.
Where a model is already discounted in-store (for example, discounted models appear in red on Harvey Norman's web site, but remember that this sale is separate from the online catalogue offerings), you'll be able to choose the best deal — either $300 off the ticketed price or the in-place discount, whichever saves you more.
it then goes on to say
Acer Aspire S3-951-2364G34iss - $999 normally, $699 after cashbackanyway if you got it for 788, good luck on getting your 300 bucks back
would be interesting to find out if you do……there were no stock in either two stores i visited today
If you look at the website, it doesn't show what the RRP is, or that it is discounted. Just a single price in red.
That's the only price I saw, and why should I assume that a red number means it's a temporary discount. Why don't they indicate it like other markdowns - again, it's not hard to make it clear & unambiguous.Anyway, I bought one, but made it clear that if the cashback wasn't honoured, would be returning it.
+1 voteJohn Kelvin on 21/04/2012 - 10:13 ¶Pretty sure they have. I went to the store yesterday and saw they are marked as $488 ($788 - $300cashback). So do not worry about it.

I just got the last one from HN Broadmeadows for $788 plus a bag for halp price. Sunshine refused to give me at that price claiming other stores are misinformed about $788 and Cashback. Now i will have to wait to see if i really and trully will get the Casback, if not i will return the laptop. On a side note the same laptop is available at Dick Smith at Broadmeadows at $674.00 plus if you have an Everyday Rewards Card, you will get an additional 10%, so could could end up paying just over $ 606.00 instead of possibly $688…thats if you can get to Broadmeadows, VIC soon.
superforever on 21/04/2012 - 11:44 ¶I think they themselves misinformed because Gordon NSW did call head office to confirm before offer me that.
superforever on 21/04/2012 - 13:43 ¶You mean today? I bought it yesterday evening.
Because I am the one told them I have asked several stores all confirmed $788 before cash back. Then they said they have to confirm with head office. Actually I talked with the Manager the man with tie?

I'm going in tomorrow to suss this out. I bought the $788 ultrabook and was told no cashback. I will be going in for a serious discussion or I may just return it if not satisfied.
They have carefully worded the terms and conditions on the website, in a way that is nearly misleading, not to mention their best price policy excludes just about everything, including cashbacks.
superforever on 21/04/2012 - 11:47 ¶I think just ask them for the form or download the form here because the cash back is nothing to do with them.

superforever on 21/04/2012 - 12:22 ¶I think they want to see the ads which the store show $488.
Because this ads already on the web site.
John Kelvin on 21/04/2012 - 12:34 ¶You cannot see it? Under the $300 cashback, it clearly shows that before cashback $788, after cashback $488.

superforever on 21/04/2012 - 17:45 ¶John Kelvin, thanks for the pic.
Would you please post it again? I forgot to save a copy first.
Thanks
John Kelvin on 21/04/2012 - 21:27 ¶No Problem. I asked staff there if they have recorded your details such as your name, address and mobile number then you should receive all the cashback.
I apologize I deleted some folders when I was transferring my files to new laptop by using dropbox. That's reason pics can not be displayed.
I bought it at the Moorabbin store and they had 4 left around 2PM.
Hope this helps.
test123123 on 21/04/2012 - 13:43 ¶where do you get this? Harveynorman website does not have this?
I wish HN website show this.

hi John can you send a copy of the pic to me please, i went to like 6 store all told me no conjuction for all sales price, so they told me even i buy it and they will not honor the cashback,
i want to saw the pic to them . please send to my email shuaik001@gmail.com thanks man
superforever on 21/04/2012 - 21:05 ¶They don't need to honour because it is not by that store themselves.

superforever on 21/04/2012 - 15:58 ¶I bought it from Gordon NSW.
Seems like no problem at Sydney but problem with other states.
Anybody have the form from VIC, SA, etc?
What is the mailing address for the cash back? The one we have is to Silverwater, NSW.

I was at Gordan as well and talked to the same guy as u. But it seems like he just found out it was a mistake and now trying to cover up. He even insist that he hasn't sold any of that particular ultra book yet. And he said the cash back comes from Harvey. So he is sure people won't get cash back for that particular model.
superforever on 21/04/2012 - 16:06 ¶You mean Gordon Sydney?
Actually no more left yesterday after I bought the last non display model.

Yes….Gordon NSW (North). The guy with the Tie. He said head office specifically said no cash back for this model. I just think he is trying to cover up right now as your post indicates he is the one. That why when I said I want to buy it, he mentioned he will make sure he makes a note stating I was informed about not getting cash back on the invoice. That just proves how paranoid is he right now. The guy with the tie.
superforever on 21/04/2012 - 16:18 ¶Because you keep typing Gordan instead of Gordon that's why I want to make sure.
Actually they have no more stock left anyway.
Another one like the Dick Smith $20 price error with the Logitech G27 Wheel. They have to honour it anyway at the end because we were told clearly in store and even a pic with it.
They cannot imagine the power of ozbargainers … :p
+1 voteMate, bought the HP, after cash back 696 from Marion store in SA. The cash back form "Ultrabook cash back promotion, locked bag2, Silerwater DC NSW 1811" store gave me additional receipt as well, advising me to send one of the original copies of the receipt with the cash back offer. HP ultrabook also comes with a bonus headphones from HP via redemption. If you require any info, let me know.
-3 votesbillybrown on 21/04/2012 - 16:17 ¶yep, all stores i called up in vic said there was no cash back on it -.-
+1 voteJohn Kelvin on 21/04/2012 - 23:10 ¶I can not agree with you. I asked staff there they confirmed if your details has been recorded to their system, you will get the cashback. No matter how much are they or on special!
+1 voteAgree HN staff even provides extra receipt to claim cash back.
If cash back is not available, staff should explicitly inform customer at time of purchase because we all mention about $300 cash back during purchase transaction.
If they reject cash back for any reason, we should log complaint to Fair Trading.
IMO some stores don't want to sell special price because they can hold stock and sell at high price, make more profit.
