Pretty sure this has been on-going.

    • Yep, just reapplied recently. Good one for the churn

      • How fast did the points credit for you?

        • Haven't reached my spend this time around yet, but I don't remember the last time I had the card being excessively long.

  • Earn more than $35,000 a year

Low entry card with pretty good value.

*edit: Just checked their other cards and there are better deals for non-flybuys

    • Median income in 2017 was $37,000 ie half the people worked for less.

    • Better deals, but have to stuck for 12 months though

Ex: Citi Rewards - 175,000 bonus Citi reward Points
100,000 bonus Citi reward Points when you spend $3,000 within the first 90 days from approval, plus an additional 75,000 bonus Citi reward Points when you keep your card for over 12 months.

      • Not sure what you can do with 175,000 reward points. But you’ll have to take into account that you have to pay 2 years of annual fees, which I imagine will be a worse deal ultimately. And also have to stuck with them for 12 months vs cancelling and potentially reapplying for another deal in the same period of time.

I don't understand why Citibank refuses to add cards on google pay. It's kinda defeat the cardless purpose every bank is trying to push for.
I hope when their credit card business is managed by NAB these cards can finally be added onto google play for the convenience of everyone.

    • Oh that’s annoying when I just noticed they’ve got Apple Pay.

On another note is this deal only people who haven’t had a Citi Rewards card in the last 12 months?

      • +1

Usually that is the case (12 months period in between cards).

Can't find any info on the page

      • Citi doesn't have a set exclusion period.

Have heard a range of things online from being told by the live chat there is an 'unofficial' wait period of 6 months to people being accepted a week after cancelling their first card.

Fwiw, Citi declined me for the Qantas offer while I still held their cars from the Virgin offer, but that was a bit silly on my part.

        • Virgin do cars now 😂

    • Probably in line with the general stance banks have, that Google pay and Apple pay inject themselves in the payment process and thus guarantee themselves profits by charging the banks. The banks are forced to succumb to using Google pay and Apple pay. Android is a bit better in that in theory the banks can make their own custom nfc payment method. So maybe citi should do that if they're against the fee. But for Apple, there's no other option. This isn't necessarily why citi doesn't do Google pay, but I bet it plays a role in it. Otherwise they're just lazy and haven't hired enough engineers to roll out features lol

  • Citi has been good for churning, but just had my first automatic rejection (instant rejected after completing online forms). I wonder if the recent acquisition by NAB changed any rules..
I noticed the types of rewards credit card also changed (e.g. there used to be $100 Coles gift card + 90k points offer, gone around the time of the acquisition)..
    Anyone with similar experience?

  • It says "New cards customers only and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers.". It does not say previous customers who closed the card over 12 months ago.
    Can anyone clarify this?

    • Just means that this is a fresh application.

I met the spending on 25/12/21. Finally received my Flybuys points today (30/3/22). So I wouldn't recommend going for this unless you're okay to wait this long.

    • Citi will request your Flybuys membership number from you via email within 8 weeks of meeting the spend criteria. The Flybuys points will be credited to your Flybuys account within 6 weeks from the date Citi receives your Flybuys membership number. Your Citi Rewards Card must remain open and in good standing to receive the Flybuys points

Sounds about right? 14 weeks from when you qualified to when you received the bonus points.

True but I’ve never had to wait for the maximum amount of waiting period to get the bonus points for other institutes. Most/all of them credited the bonus points within a day or two.
