      • Not Targetted other then being commbank?

Not all commbank customers are eligible though.

I have a CBA passbook account. I can't seem to get the offer.

        • they are?

        • +2

Anyone with a commbank card can sign up with the link, the only requirement is having a commbank credit/debit card.

Edit: all commbank passbook customers were sent debit cards.

            @Jofzar:

            were sent debit cards.

            probably went in the bin…

            • +6

@jv: Targeted at people who don't chuck their cards in the bin.

              • @suburbanmale: It's not a card account.

                • +3

@jv: Passbooks havent been available for new customers for over 10 years and all passbook customers got given a Mastercard Debit card 2 years ago.

They are all card accounts now if you like it or not JV.

                  • @Jofzar:

Passbooks havent been available for new customers for over 10 years

                    I'm a bit older than 10.

I don't have an active debit card on the passbook account. So there is no card that can be used on this account.

Good marketing exercise! Not cost much for CBA or More to get lot new customer. People tend to get ongoing discount instead of something like first month free.

  • If I switch from Aussie do I need to provide 30 days notice to them? They mention that on their faq but I thought all that left with NBN.

Do they charge pro rata for last month or should I wait till the end of billing cycle?

    Many thanks

    • +1

I am/was with Belong and was told they do not refund the remaining of the paid month (if they charge my account on 1st of month and disconnect 2nd of month then I loose the paid 29 days). so I would say better to change over couple of days before the charge day. But it also depends on when the new (More) start to charge you.

    • +2

There are ISPs that still ask for 30 days notice (hello TPG). Aussie BB do give out refunds for the remaining days.

      • ahh i am with TPG and i JUST paid for another month, so i should wait till it's near the end of the month and then can i just sign up with the new one or do i need to contact TPG and do something?

        • The fact your asking so many questions says to me high risk of losing number and or nbn downtime.
Is the hassle worthwhile for 12months? Maybe try calling your current isp and explain the better offer and see if they are willing to sweeten your current plan to keep you (unlikely, there’s no obligation I guess from them)

          • +2

@cloudy: close to $25 a month saving i think for 12 months is not bad. The real issue is it seems TPG make it unnecessarily difficult to churn from them. Looking at their forums, lots of complaints on that point.

            • +3

@Iggemo: I’ve left TPG before, it’s quiet straightforward if you’re clear and firm in asking. All you need is to tell them you’re leaving, choose your date, usually late as possible for the notice period and ask the cs for a email to confirm the discussion and last date.

If your clear there’s no drama.

But (not trying to be ageist) for the older folks whom are more assuming and simplistic (maybe just my parents) I never move them to save a buck. The hassle of switching, changing modems and or modem setup, downtime, need to be on wait for help with new isp. Eek. Saying all this makes me feel like the boomer and I’m in my 30s haha

              • +2

@cloudy: This (oops) replied to wrong post - but I agree with you cloudy

                Just called TPG to clarify.

First consultant told me no notice period and transferred me to someone to who might be able to offer me a better offer to retain me. He had no idea.

Second consultant clarified that TPG doesn't price match and that they can only offer existing plans - they don't discount the monthly rate. BUT she did offer one month free to not cancel - they can request approval for that.

Regarding cancellation - took a bit to understand over the bad line, but essentially as per above.

Notify TPG that you are going to cancel. You will be charged up to 30 days from notification date (regardless of what your current billing cycle date is … eg. my billing cycle is 15th. If I cancelled today. my next bill on 15th would be for extra 6 days (to the 21st)

I'm not sure about this, but I think they'll disconnect on the 30th day. So you can choose to churn with the new provider from any time up to that 30 days? Maybe someone can clarify on this.

                Hope that may help.

(I took the 1 month free. Taking the punt this offer won't disappear)

      • +1

        Others are similar to TPG.
Superloop.don't require 30 days notice, but they don't give refunds if you leave before the period you've paid for.
I just experienced this, so you need to transfer at the end of your billing period if you.dont want to lose the days you've paid for in advance.

    • +2

You can cancel immediately, I did with about 3 days notice. They bill pro-rata from cancellation date.

  • +2

Been using this since I was targeted a few months ago. As good as any other NBN I've used in my area.

  • when does the offer expire? current provider charges till end of month. .dont want to miss out!

    • 31th December 2022

Offer of 30% off a More nbn™ plan for 12 months is for customers who complete the sign up and switch providers by 31 December 2022

    • They say end of this year,

I wouldnt suprise me if its earlier tbh with a certain amount of people signing up.

  • +1

aussiebb or nothing tbh, not worth the poor PM speeds

    • What poor speeds ?

    • +1

Used to be like that but plenty of ISPs around now who don't suffer bandwidth issues. I swapped to more and actually my speeds have only improved (90 down 24/7 with ABB to 105 down 24/7 with More).

      • +1

if they had a 1000/40 option i would jump ship

        • +2

I used to be on 1000/40 with ABB, for a while anyway. I enjoyed the speed test results and occasional fast download times. But then realized nothing else I do actually needs it, and I was paying $50/month just for that.

Perhaps they'll come down a bit more in future.

        • lol.. but what about the poor PM speeds?????

    • +3

aussiebb or nothing tbh, not worth the poor PM speeds

I've been regularly getting around 98-102/20-22 during peak on a 100/20 plan with superloop.

  • So my 12 month discounted rate at ABB has finished so this could an option for 6 months before I can churn back to ABB.

    • This is what I plan to do. My ABB discount ends in a week so will jump into this

  • Been a long time since I bothered to switch providers but this is a $20 per month saving.

Will my Dodo modem work? I think it's Huawei HG659.

Buying another modem kinda kills it.

    • Should be ok as long as you can enter username and password on the huawei.

    • Remove the VLAN ID in the Huawei HG659 modem settings menu. Put in your More username and password and the Huawei HG659 modem will connect to More.

      • +1

        Sounds simple enough. Cheers.

    • Not sure how you went @Alan Fartridge but don't dodo ask for their modem router back if you got it for nothing off them?

  • +1

i would swap but.. do they have an ability to add a landline nbr? im with TPG and have a landline phone nbr which is pay for what you use with it, i dont think it cost any extra to have, not sure if More have any facility for that or to port nbrs?

    • -2

The 1980's are calling and want their landline back.

    • +4

Do you mean you have a VOIP number?

If so, churn the number to someone like CrazyTel and then you won't be tied up with a single ISP…

      • Thanks! I had no idea about that, and it's free to sign up and connect? I might swap to this NBN And then do as you said and get a crazytel phone connection, would i be able to keep the same VoIP nbr?

        • +2

Thanks! I had no idea about that, and it's free to sign up and connect?

          https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/9n1j1mkq

I might swap to this NBN And then do as you said and get a crazytel phone connection

You need to move your phone number first, otherwise you risk losing the number.

  • It was cheaper?

    • +2

      Good luck getting a code?

      • 👍🏼

  • I'd encourage everyone's experiences with the ISP to post your review on productreviews!!

  • Worth signing up for a CBA debit card just for this? Have avoided signing up with any major banks for awhile, but this may tempt me. Annoying thing will be to avoid getting charged a monthly account fee with CBA, as I'm guessing they'll want monthly deposits.

    • +2

Annoying thing will be to avoid getting charged a monthly account fee with CBA

I have a CDIA account with them with zero fees…

      • +1

Good share! Thanks for the tip jv

  • +1

as per page the while benefit is for 12 months its not a contractual offer means , u can cancel anytime right.
    "No contracts"

  • Will the Aussie bb modem work

    • Configure the modems WAN to PPPoE and it will connect to More.

      • +1

It can indeed. But whether Vocus-backed nbn works in your area for your purposes, is 'more' the question, lol

  • +1

Hi, is anyone aware if these plans also apply to CBA subsidiaries such as BankWest?

  • +2

Can I repurpose an NBN modem from belong with this deal

    • Also would like to know this. With belong currently. Run their service through the belong modem and then through google mesh system. More states can’t use the mesh router as primary modem for FTTN connection

      • +1

It will operate the same with all providers with regard to the hardware you need, because FTTN is a DSL delivery method, so you still need a modem of your own for this.
Mesh router needs to be fed internet from a source of some sort (VDSL2 modem in your case).

      • +1

I can confirm the belong modem does work with this

  • +1

    No FTTN. Thanks Malcolm

    • The ozbargain description copied isn't clear on it's own, but the '1' superscript is referring to the Google Nest router.

  • Hi, I just signed up for this plan, do I need to call my current provider to stop the plan? or More will take care of it?

    Thanks

    • I had the TPG and I had to call 30 days before the exchange to cancel, as it was under contract

      • Oh, thanks, I need to call TGP ASAP.

      • sorry, when you say under contract do you mean you were still in a contract period? Cos i have been with TPG for several years so whatever initial contract period existed is long expired, do you still need to give them 30 days' notice?

edit: i see they need notice in their terms and conditions either way as below:

        CANCELLING AN NBN ACCESS SERVICE

You may terminate the NBN service by giving us at least 30 days written notice. You must pay for charges for the service up to the end of the
        notice period.

If you cancel your NBN service before the end of your Minimum Contract Period, you will be required to pay the early termination charges

    • I had Telstra when moved to another provider. Called Telstra and they cancelled same day and refunded the pro rata for the remaining days.

  • I have a home loan, credit card and savings with CBA and I only got 30%. What do you need to do to get 40%?!

  • Vocus reseller?
cant find info which backhaul do they use

  • +3

Poor guys and girls when they login tomorrow to start their day and see 3000 applications pending :)

    • It'll be Swoop 2.0

  • Anyone on More can you please do a trace route to 9.9.9.9 and post results?

  • Can you upgrade/downgrade plans and still get the discount?

  • -7

PSA: You DON'T need a CommBank card. Or at least you don't for the 40% offer.

    • They make it very clear you need one multiple times

    • 40% deal is irrelevant to this. From the Ozbargain link:

Sign up using your CommBank credit or debit card as your bill payment method before 31 December 2022 and get up to 30% off your bill for the first 12 months.*

Pop up on More NBN offer page:

Please confirm that you are an active CommBank customer and have your CommBank credit or debit card available to complete your order.

      After clicking "Confirm":

Valid when checking out using your CommBank credit or debit card.

  • +1

I've gotten the 24 months deal. also comes with 10k rewards points

  • Fortunately we have the targeted deal, which will save approx $500 v the comparable TPG plan that we're currently on.

But for those who didn't get that deal …. It's ok. By my calcs it's only a difference of $184.80 over 2 years.

  • Signed up just before my next bill cycle ends with Superloop. It should just change over right?

    • +1

It will once you login to your modem/router and change the WAN settings to PPPoE and put in your More username and password.

  • On the CBA link it shows the XXL Speed Boost plan as costing $63.90 per month as oppose to $69.30 (30% off $99). Do you think More Telecom will honour this price?

    • No

  • Is the $339 mesh modem a good deal? Was considering buying boosters anyway.

    • Nest Wi-Fi is a router and not a VDSL2 modem. $339 is not a bad price but not the best price.

      • +1

With google hardware, are we the product?

        • This article has all the Nest Wi-Fi details on what data Google collects.
