Not suggesting it's a bad deal but it looks like you can get the watch for $299 reasonably easily looking back through ozb history.

    • So $250 on fleabay?

      • +1

That's if you want to go down that track, in either direction. I don't think I've ever bought anything from a "private seller" before, just businesses. I've never sold anything in my life. The possibilities of something going wrong just don't seem worth it to me.

        • I have bought and sold many things… but yea… the deal is "okay". Found Pixel 6 being sold/bought for 700-900 on fleabay.

      • +2

Feebay….I'd suggest using one of the two free gumtree listings per month so it only costs 30c instead of 13.4% in fees.

        • +1

          That promotion is over unfortunately.

          • @BlunderCat: Dang your right it is. I had only used it in December and January too..

        • +4

I thought Gumtree was free to list items?

          • @Mr Haj: Gumtree used to have a option to post to ebay where you could get 2 free eBay listings per month. Instead of paying 13.4% to eBay or whatever else the fee was depending on category etc it was a flat fee of 30c for 2 single item listings per month.

            • @dazza826: Oh wow. That's pretty great.

              • @Mr Haj: It was sadly. Just tried to list a mock item then and the option is gone blundercat is right…was available back in Jan of this year too.

Need to get a stainless steel strap I think

    • Most likely nickel allergy, some stainless steel has enough Ni to trigger allergies.

Surgical SS, titanium or good old plastic.

      • It's silicone straps. Just bought baberic ones

The world's most complained about phone….

    • What are the complaints? Seems Google can never just deliver a great phone. Always issues, which is bad given the price tag of their phones now.

      • Strange I've always had flagship Samsung phone's but got a Google Pixel 3 for work use… have to say I prefer it by far. I'll be swapping to the next latest Google Pixel when I've had enough of my S21. Better phones imo, no issues.

This is the problem with the Internet, the complainers vastly outnumber those who are satisfied.

Telstra + Pixel, what could go wrong?

    • What? What could go wrong?

      • +1

There are known problems with the Pixel 6 and Telstra is notoriously terrible I assume.

  • +7

Pixel 6? I heard a lot of issues with it.

    • +15

I've heard this coming up a lot lately, been loving the 6 pro with no issues to report.

      • +10

Also Pro - no issues, brilliant phone.
My partner has a 6 non pro, no issues with hers.

        • -1

6, only issue is no wifi calling

          • +3

            @Slippery Fish: Wrong.
Source - I have a Pixel 6 Pro, and VoWiFi works on Boost.

            • @willyroo: Good to know. I'm thinking if buying one.

SF comment may refer to a wifi calling service that works in US only. Not sure but IIRC it was called Google Voice. May be wrong

    • +6

      No issues here

    • +3

No issues with my P6 either

    • +4

I have the Pixel 6 and the fingerprint sensor is hit and miss. On occasions it can be a nightmare, sometimes ending up having to use my password to get in. Then I can go for long periods where it magically works first time every time. It really is weird. Phone is all up-to-date with firmware. If the Pixel 7 comes with an ultrasonic sensor I will definitely be upgrading, it can be that annoying. In comparison to my previous phone OnePlus 6T (had an optical fingerprint sensor) that was a little hit and miss sometimes requiring a couple of tries but I never had to use my password to unlock the phone! Other than that I love the phone and have no other gripes, photos are fantastic, it is fast and snappy and best of all are the monthly security patches and updates to future Android releases.

      • +4

Yeah agreed, the sensor on the back of my Pixel 3 XL almost never missed a beat but the 6 is just another level of annoyance.

        • They must be using Samsung's sensor now.

          • @strangeloops66: It uses an optical sensor. The ultrasonic sensors are only found on the Samsungs, and are better than optical sensors.

    • Fingerprint sensor is nightmare
Yellowish screen. Not to bright to use it outdoor (pixel 6)
      Lagging, lots of bugs
updates are arriving almost every week to fix some of new or old issue or bug
Fast charge not fast at all, real battery life is smaller than advertised
Could has issues with "non approved" screen protectors

    • Same with Sunproof, I have P6 and have no major problems with it.

Slight annoyance when I put screen protector on, and finger print scanner takes a split second long (and sometimes doesnt register).
But try it again and it works. So no major issue here.

I think people that are totally nerdy tend to compare the phone with other brands, and judge it to the n-th degree.
But for the normal consumer - this phone has been a good upgrade from Pixel 1.

    • Is this Samsung pay for negative comments on other brands?

  • It's a decent deal, but was available around Christmas through Telstra with the watch etc for less (I think 850 or something?)

  • +8

Stay away from Pixel 6 … using it and cursing it almost daily … keyboard issues, GPS issues, the call goes on hold for no reason … Google Support is pathetic ..

Am on latest Android update of 5th Feb.

    • Pixel and call issues. Who would've thought.

      • Zero call issues on my P4A5g, so… what are you trying to say?

        • -3

Pixel 3 - constant call dropouts and microphone deactivations where only speakerphone would make me heard, temporarily. Seemed like a bug deep in whatever the Pixel has because it wasn't present in video footage. Went back to Google after a year.

Pixel 5 - switched to this one. Similar issues started popping up, but this time nothing would fix not being heard on a call. It's going back.

Oh, did I mention the Pixel 2? Didn't own that but there was a huge lawsuit over its commonly faulty microphones.

These Pixels have a bad track record.

    • Telstra has an Early Life Failure policy - if a phone fails within first 30 days of purchase, you can get a free, brand new replacement!
I've had my P6 replaced as it had a dead speaker which was DOA.

      • +1

I think it will be very difficult to prove intermittent issues.

        • You can make it permanent I hear - 3 seconds on high in a microwave oven 😉

    • No idea on the Pixel but agree with your opinion on Google support from my experience.

    • +3

Wait, you guys are using your phone to call people?

  • +4

If only this was on the Pixel 6 Pro as well…

  • +1

Hopefully Google fixes things with P7 this year. Kinda disappointed with the trajectory of Pixels over past couple of years…

    • Only Pixel 2 was good, all others utter trash.

      • I'm still running my pixel 2. No issues besides charge.
Before I had a Google nexus (something) and it was great too. Sad to see the new pixel is lacking. Was thinking it may be time for a new phone

      • Only Pixel 2 was good, all others utter trash.

I've had my 3a for nearly 3 years, it has been flawless. If I could buy the exact same phone with updated specs I would.

Bought Pixel 6 recently from Telstra at $849 on Telstra day. No issues with the phone. Loving it.

  • -4

    Spyware lol

    • I am just saying it is not all doom and gloom with Pixel 6. Customers like me haven't had issues with it which does not invalidate issues others had.

  • +5

Returned my P6P. Too many bugs. S22U incoming

    • -2

Same here. Bought it on first day, return it on day 10. So many bugs like Chinese phone for $50

      • -1

        Racist comment.
You could have just said a cheap $50 phone.

        • +1

yeah considering the Pixel 6 is made in China itself. The word China is almost redundant in the fact that almost every phone is manufactured in China. I'm thinking Samsung and Sony may be just about the only non-Chinese phones.

  • +3

I have used many Androids through out the years. I would say Pixel 6 is the worst one I have ever owned. Bought it as soon as it came out. Very poor reception. Got hot pretty easily. 10 minutes of video call on data and the phone would shut itself off due to overheating. Needless to say, very poor battery life. Situation was made worse by December update. Anyway, got a new one after sending it away for warranty replacement. Still same issues persisted. The new phone is still abysmal with battery life and still can't make a video call on data over 10/15 minutes. All of this on just 4G. I don't know whats the story with 5G. And I used to think Exynos battery life was worst.
Tldr: Stay away from Pixel 6/pro. See the reviews online, for every positive review, there are couple or more negative ones.

    • one of the reasons why you don't buy things when it first comes out :) wait for reviews and feedback haha

    • 4 star review (google search) isn't great. My p30 gets 4.7
Great way to weed out shit phones. Check out the reviews from the end user…

  • +3

Meh, it's time to proper discount this and the pro rather than bundling them to try make it a deal

    • +1

yeah, i don't wanna run around like a stupid with a tracking device to show my upload my stats.

      • +1

Yep, I really don't get excited over any smartwatch now.
A deal on just the phone outright is what would get me to hand over my cash.

  • Bought pixel 6 on boxing day. It's ok. I upgraded from pixel 2. Only upgraded cos battery was cactus. Otherwise pixel 2 was still going strong.

Pixel 6 drops calls like a (profanity). Once it dropped like every 30 seconds (like hangs up and one of us has to call the other person again) like 10 times before I gave up and just finished our convo through sms.

I kept my pixel 2 as a PUBG mobile machine cos I have triggers that fit on it. I miss how compact the pixel 2 feels. Sometimes I wonder if I would have been better off just getting a battery replacement for $100.

    • I'm still running my pixel 2. Was thinking of buying a pixel 6 but I may follow your comment and just get a new battery for the 2

      • Honestly, do the battery upgrade and wait for next release of Pixel. I was fortunate that I had gift vouchers from work for Chrissie that paid for the Pixel 6, but if it was my own money I'd just do the upgrade because my Pixel 2 hadn't really skipped a beat.

        • How do U do the battery upgrade?

  • +3

    Seriously a bad phone.
Literally the most profitable company on earth and still uses bottom tier parts trying to save money.
    Fvck Google.

    • They need to just put their software on samsung hardware or not stuff around and try to be creative.
Like the time they out the biggest notch on earth and thought it was a good idea.

  • +1

So much hate for this phone! My experience has been really good. The only issue is the fingerprint sensor which is genuinely not very good. Usually takes a couple of goes. Besides that, everything has been great. Reception has been good. Bluetooth really strong and things like the voice recognition and stuff are excellent.

    • I mean… that's a pretty big issue though. It's not something you should be happy about on a $1000 phone.

The unlocking experience is something you do hundreds of times a day potentially.

  • Is there a significant difference between the P6 and P6Pro camera wise.

Wife purely wants a new phone based on how good the cameras are.

    TIA

    • Pixel 6 Camera is great. Pro only adds one Telephoto (4x Zoom) camera, that's it! For the price, this is the best phone on the market. I bought in December when they also had a FitBit Sense promotion. Oh, and Fitbit sense is fantastic too!

      https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=10918&idPhone…

      • WTF is the benefit of a telephoto?

We mainly use our phone to take family photos of the kids and videos.

What we need is to be able to remove people from the photos (been told you can do this on the pro) and no more blurry photos of kids (also been told this phone helps with this).

        • +3

It's more for situations where you are not allowed to be very close to the subject. Phone makers are running out of new features to entice people, so optical zoom is the one new flagship phones are including.

Most people tend to look better through a telephoto lens. It tends to make a person looks a bit thinner. If you asked a pro to take portrait photos, they will generally use telephoto lenses (though easier to get bokeh also helps).

Another possibility is that telephoto lens could often also provide macro shots (not as good as dedicated macro lenses).

Yes, large group photos, you would use wide or ultrawide. Most people don't care (a telephoto lens on a phone is kinda gimmicky). I am chubby and the phone I am using the most doesn't have a telephoto lens (but honestly, no telephoto lens can make me look thin).

        • +1

This is why I like telephoto. Taking photos of the kids on stage at assembly, playing sports, walking with each other on a beach while I'm sitting watching them. Anywhere I can't get close enough to them.

I never use wide lens for family shots as I can always get further away if need be. It's good for other purposes though.

          • @picket23: thanks for all the input peeps.

I think I might hold off for a deal for the pro as we probably wont be upgrading phones after this one for 2-3 years and telephoto for kids sports sounds really beneficial.

            • +2

@johnthepg: Just an FYI, from the specs, Pixel 6 Pro's telephoto equivalent focal length (104mm) is designed more for portrait shots. It does allow you to take photos when you are slightly away from the subject. That focal length generally isn't sufficient for sports (you can still do, but cannot be too far away from the subject).

Camera lenses is one area where phone makers can still do more later on, and they will do that, though in a slowish, progressive manner (to entice you to upgrade more often).

              • @netsurfer: noted mate. my eldest is only 4 so I wont be too far away from him so I think it might be okay.

                • @johnthepg: Telephoto isn't vital IMO, there's only a few occasions I end up using it. Just pointing out it's not totally worthless for family photos.

  • +5

Waiting for outright deals on pro

  • Would this phone be unlocked?

Also, why are they wanting me to verfiy my ID and do a credit check when I'm buying it outright?

  • What cases are people using? I bought a hard clear case for P6 and the phone is just too big.

    • I got a Tudia Shield from Amazon. Fits great, feels sturdy enough, was pretty cheap

  • That Smartwatch worth $200 I say

  • +1

    Google pixel - arsehole phone
Iphone - turn into an arsehole.

    Choices, choices, choices?

  • Has anyone who used this deal received the smartwatch? I am yet to receive it.

    • +1

Yeah, got it a couple of weeks ago
