      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/175014431517

$219 after using the SNSAVE code is the best price we can offer.

      • looks like a pretty good deal to me if you're after one, especially it's AU stock..

      • Thanks! Bought one.

      • Which version of the Q1 is it? I think there was a second revision before the knob version that fixed some of the original review 'issues'? Or did the knob version do that? I can't remember keyboard stuff.

        • There's two versions right now, v1 knobless and v2 with a knob.

They will release v2 knobless in the future

Seems like more like a clearance of old boards with unpopular combination of options. A lot of 2022 boards of various brands around the $100 mark are coming with hotswap, full RGB, bluetooth 5.2, even prelubed stabilisers and some sort of sound dampening.

    • +5

Got any links? Looking for a full board with hotswap + bluetooth.

      • +1

Just had a quick look as trying to do some work at the moment.
This looks pretty good especially for the price https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32952663095.html
Main downside I can see is that it is 3 pin pcb not 5 pin. Could be a pain in the ass clipping the 2 plastic pins on a 5 pin switch. But hey even the GMMK full size still only has 3 pin too. At least this one you can pick Kailh box switch. I really like the brown (esp once you lube them).
Aliexpress has been really good the last few months. Reasonable postage speed, a lot of stores have free returns and they take paypal.

        • Main downside is Aliexpress. Happy for you that you’ve had good experiences, Recently I’ve had: items not show up; used items sold as new; items arrive with missing pieces; 1/2 my orders with an 8-10 week wait. Reviews are worthless on there, these are from highly rated sellers.

          • @Minimum chips: Never had used items. Thats really bad luck. I order knowing that there could be a big delay and weight up whether the savings is worth the potential extra wait time or not. Ive returned a few things to Ali including keyboards and they get shipped for free to a collection warehouse in NSW. From that point the return was processed within about 2 weeks. Not fast but tolerable. If its something of decent cost or electronic I'll only order from a seller that has free returns listed on it.

            • @Sammyboy: i bought a xiaomi ax6000 router, the seller didnt ship it out but wanted me to accept it as delivered and will refund me the money. i said no and opened a dispute to get the money back. i guess it depends on what type of seller u get. can be dodgy.

              • @rasserie: File a dispute straight away with Aliexpress. The sellers will try and stall you. It's a bloody good router though. I set up 3 as a mesh.

                • @Sammyboy: it is. i use it solely for the quest 2 as i dont have a long enough usb cable to connect to my laptop. in the end i used a different seller. slightly expensive but way less hassle.

      • Bump. I hear the keychron K10 hotswap version is a decent option to start on.

    • Any recommendations for what to look for? Coming from a CM Storm Trigger (Cherry Blue/Green, full size), not fussed about wireless.

      • At this price point just look for the features you specifically want first then go from there. You may have to go up a fraction. Do you want a plastic case, full aluminium (unlike these Keychrons which only have aluminium bezels), acrylic and resin bases, Bluetooth, hotswap. Probably look out for 5 pin PCB if you are going to try a lot of switches. If you just want to swap out once and the board you really like is 3 pin, then it's just a bit of extra work to cut the extra pins off the switches (if the ones you bought are 5 pin). Even the no name China boards are pretty good, especially if you are going to open it up and do a bit of modding. You can buy cheap foam from spotlight or Bunnings, key and stab films off eBay. I've bought everything from Akko, Skyloong, Corsair, Keychron, Anne, Ducky, Womier, Glorious, Drop and recently splurged on a Parallel Portal. Even the most expensive boards you will end up opening and modding at some point. Actually the Keychron is the only board I've sold off so far.

    • "lube" 'ey…

  • +1

Which one is good for gaming (low latency?)

    • +1

Both bluetooth and cable (through USB C).

      Sufficiently low latency for gaming.
Technology has made that a really low bar.

  • How does Keychron red/ brown compare to Logitech G613 ? Looking for some joy at work

    • I have the K2 Brown and the keystrokes are much smoother than my Logitech (tacticle)

  • +1

Got a K3 for Xmas. Wasn’t sure about going low profile, but really enjoying it so far.

    • After a week or two adjustment period for the k3v2 (due to compact keyboard layout), I love it now. Using optical brown, may consider banana/mint later on though due to heavy keystrokes.

I went from MX Keys Full size. Originally wanted to change to MX Keys mini but stock availability was poor at the time.

  • What's banana and mint switch means?

    • The operating force Banana ( 57 ± 10gf ) and Mint ( 67 ±10gf ) will be heavier than others

      • If i want the keyboard with less clicky and noise (mainly for work), which one is better to these mechanical keyboard? Thanks.

        • +3

These look both to be tactile, I don't have any experience with these in particular but tactiles are always louder than linear switches. Go red or black if noise is your concern. There aren't many switches that are clicky (mainly blues) so you should be safe as long as you avoid them.

          • @GUYANDSON: Thanks. Since i got the kogan blue switch, which is clicky clicky loud.

    • Their name for yellow and green switch types.

  • +2

    I'll patiently wait for K5

    • +1

Same, its been pushed back for months now

    • +4

K5 will be launched in Australia around End April - Mid May

      • OMG 2 more months now?

Are they puttling legs on it instead of just rubber feet?

      • and where can we get banana and mint test keys on the test keyboard thingo - the test thing is out of stock everywhere.

  • +2

amazing keyboards. just wished battery life is as good as mx mouse or apple's magic keyboard / mouse lol. Only last me for 3-4 days tops.

  • Just a question, been looking at keychron and I want to get wireless and it looks like the wireless options are limited to bluetooth. In my case I use a switch to switch my peripherals between two computers. Using the logitech dongle this works flawlessly - I'm assuming with bluetooth its tied to the computer so I can't just press a button on my switch to switch across ?

    • +1

Keychron Bluetooth keyboard can support up to 3 devices at the same time means you can switch devices simply by pressing the function + 1-3 keys

  • 3 weeks to deliver to WA when in stock???

    • +3

No needed, we will use express service for every order
3 weeks is " just in case " notification by eBay during the pandemic period

      • Fantastic thanks for clarifying. Ordered the K10 ally to replace a Logitech G610 Blue. Love the Logitech but need to switch between multiple systems…

  • Genuine question - can somebody tell me why these are so good (and popular it seems!)

I have a corded, basic Dell keyboard at the moment and nearly purchased the MX Keys full size… but haven't yet.

These appear to have low battery life.

    • +3

Mechanical keyboards tend to be more expensive, especially compared to those that were built to be cheap (like a typical Dell keyboard). So they tend to be better quality.
I guess lifetime of the mechanical switches are longer in general and the keys don't have to be pressed all the way in for the key actuation? Those are the only kinda "objective benefits" that I can think of.

N-key rollover is another, but whether you would notice that is another question I feel (membrane keyboards tend to have limitations on how many keys it can guarantee to be registered if they were to be pressed simultaneously).

Frankly speaking, whether you would enjoy a mechanical keyboard or not depends on whether you enjoy how it feels to type, which is subjective.

      • Thanks for the explanation. Yes, I do enjoy how it feels to type so I would appreciate the change to a quality keyboard.
I swapped to the MX Master 3 mouse and am blown away at the difference between that and a standard cheap mouse… hence why I was looking at the keyboard equivalent….. or one of these I suppose.

        • I personally would say mechanical keyboards use different mechanism, whether you'd like them or not would depend on whether you like the differences. I personally think the easiest way to see is just by trying some out. You might hate it for having longer key travel (4mm total travel, key registers at 2mm point is kinda the standard, vs something like MX Keys which have around 2mm of total travel) or the noise it makes.

I was also going to say that there are more variations and more customisability on the mechanical keyboard front, but I think that's more something that you may have a look and go, meh, not for me.

  • Any recommendations for typing/casual use with a small form factor? Looking at Keychron K3v2 at this point.

  • If I didn't buy gmmk pro during the last deal, I would have jumped onto the Q1 of this deal! D:

  • Rep, will you be getting K8 Pro? Do you know pricing / can you give us a sweet deal when it drops? :)

    • +1

ETA will be around End April - Mid May. Didn't get the price yet but will be cheaper than Q series.

  • +2

Is the Q1 in your store the V1 or V2 version?

  • Thanks got a K1v5SE

  • Hi Guys,
It seems like there are lots of Keychron specialists here, seeking suggestions for :

1, compact size for carrying around with laptops (windows or Macbook)
2, long battery life (kids will forget to charge on time)
3, back led - the single color preferred (okay with RGB) - kids will not turn the keyboard to a toy

    • +1

K6 is the most compact size, and you'll find you get used to the small form factor very quickly - the layers are just like typing on a phone keyboard.
You can get a lot more life out of the battery by leaving the lights off.
Brown v Red switches will barely make a difference so don't fret too much about those options - Blue is the clicky one which may either be annoying, or make it easier to monitor if the kids are typing or gaming ;)

From this seller, the top listing "K6- 65% Layout I RGB Backlit I Aluminium Frame I Non Hot Swap I Wireless" seems to be the way to go. You can get the K3 if you really want all the F-keys (this board is also slightly thinner). If you really wanted to shop around you could maybe find this model with the standard plastic body instead of aluminium, but tbh I don't know if you'd be saving that much. The aluminium frame can be easily unscrewed and removed if you don't want the extra weight anyway.

      • Thanks so much!!! really appreciated it!

  • I am guessing Bluetooth is going to be inferior to a dedicated receiver like those in Logitech. Is that true? Does keychron offer any keyboard with such dongles?

    • +1

Was thinking alone the same line.

Bluetooth also doesn't work at boot, say if you need to change BIOS settings, and if you use a KVM it won't work neither.

But you can always plug in the cable temporarily.

  • I'm looking at the K4 v2 as I want a more compact keyboard but also want the number pad.
Can anyone with the compact sizes comment on how it is for touch typists?
I'm concerned about the smaller sized right shift key maybe causing issues?

    • I have a K4 and was worried about the same before I bought it.

Bit of an adjustment, but I've learnt to cope with the layout - i changed my arrow keycaps to a different texture to help with differentiating the feel when I don't want to have to look down to confirm I'm pressing the arrow keys.
The numpad zero took a bit more adjustment since it's half the length of the standard 0, but I've managed to cope (since i do use the numpad a lot for work, and it kind of was a 'must learn' to adjust situation lol)
I don't use my right shift that much when i touch type, so can't comment on your main concern … but i imagine if you normally hit the middle to left side of the RShift, then the shorter shift key on the K4 will be fine.

Yeah you have to learn to not rely on the gaps between key clusters on a full size keyboard to be able to touch type with the K4's modifier keys.

      Hope that helps

      • Thanks for that! Appreciate the feedback!

  • Help please!

Current Kogan needs a replacement as it’s acting up at times

So many options and confused working out what would be best

Purely for gaming and normal use, doesn’t need to be portable so size doesn’t matter.
RGB would be handy and wireless isn’t a deal breaker either

Unfortunately, this code no longer works.

  • Was hoping to get a K4 but coupon seems to no longer be working? States "the promotion till 27/02 or stocks last"

I have used 4 keyboards (Keychron K6, Logitech K380, MX Keys and Satechi X1) and here is a quick comparison -

Satechi X1 - My full time keyboard

    Pros -
    * Typing feel almost same as my Macbook Pro
    * Connects to 3 devices
    * Long battery life
    * No layers. A key for everything.
    Cons -
    * Not really. It just works.

MX Keys - Used for a week and sold (purchased this before MX Keys Mini was launched)

    Pros -
    * Wonderful to type on. Best feeling typing experience, hard to describe
    * Connects to multiple devices
    * Long battery life
    * No layers. A key for everything.
    Cons -
    * Its too long moving the mouse too far away from me. I just couldn't get used to it.

Logitech K380 - Always in my bag, perfect backup keyboard

    Pros -
    * Best budget friendly option
    * Does everything a multi-device bluetooth keyboard should be able to do
    * Battery just lasts for ever (over a year or so)

    Cons -
    * Its subjective, but typing experience is not the best in class

Keychron K6 - Used for 2 months, and now sits in the drawer

    Pros -
    * Clickety clickety click - its fun to use, specially when moving from a membrane keyboard
    * RGB - looks cool

    Cons -
    * Too high.
    * Goes into sleep after 10 mins, and takes almost 3-4 seconds to wake up and reconnect. This is super annoying.
    * Battery life. Lasts 4-5 days max with regular use.
    * People can hear it if you are on zoom/teams call and typing away the notes.
    * Novelty factor dies quickly if you are more focused on just getting on with your work.

Hope this helps anyone evaluating keyboard options.

      • Goes into sleep after 10 mins, and takes almost 3-4 seconds to wake up and reconnect. This is super annoying.

Sleep time can be adjusted on these keyboards can't it? (although, will come with a hit to battery life)

But yes, a good point I hadn't thought about.

      • +1

No, you can't adjust the time period. You can switch it off permanently, but then it drains the battery empty if you forget to switch off the keyboard at the end of the day.

        • Ah right - must be specific to the K6, because some of the other models definitely offer the ability to set the timeout to 10/20/30 minutes (or off).

A good reminder to check with the specific keyboard you're looking at! :)

    Code no longer works?

    • +1

The afterpay10 deal doesn't work for those who have already used it.
can we just pick up and pay cash for those in VIC? will still need a tax invoice though..
