Samsung 65" The Serif QLED 4K Smart TV $1614 Delivered @ Samsung Education Portal

460

They marked 65 inch Samsung lifestyle TV as new one. 43 and 55 inch release in 2020. 65 inch could be new one. I found information this website
https://cybershack.com.au/videos/cybershack-tv-s27ep7-samsun…
This website indicates the 65 inch is a new model and comes with 120hz refresh rate panel and it should be released end of 2021. I believe the 65 one should comes with 4K@120Hz on HDMI Port 4 with AMD FreeSync Premium and the panel should equivalent to Samsung Q70 series. 43 and 55 inch panel should equivalent to Q60 series.

I found addtional information on Specifications include
Freesync: FreeSync Premium
G-SYNC: N/A
Game Mode: Yes (Auto Game Mode (ALLM), Game Motion Plus, Dynamic Black EQ, Surround Sound, 4K@120Hz (HDMI Port 4))

Maybe not bad for a flexible TV with its own stand and supports 4K 120HZ with AMD FreeSync Premium feature. You can easily move and place it to any room you want without a TV unit to hold the TV.

I'd be a little wary of buying direct from Samdung. My 75 The Frame was faulty out of the box (repairer confirmed faulty pixel and below average backlight bleed) and they are demanding to repair it with an entire new screen and refuse to refund or replace. Suspect you may get better after sales support from JB or the good guys.

      Agree Samsung support is horrible.
I'd almost rather Harvey Norman service… Almost

I don't know if it's Samsung that treat their customer horribly, but based on my experience with the repair is they outsource it to 3rd party repairer, who in turn is trying to rip off Samsung's customer, these people are scammer, they blamed it everything on the customer, and sometimes they don't even check on the issue, and make up some random stuff, like phone repair, water damage etc…

      • Agree, agree. Had a couple of diabolical experiences with Samsung support and refuse to buy any of their products ever again…

    • Unfortunately both JB and Goodguys are out of stock. I will try my luck with Samsung.

Hmm… You should tried ACL spell with the agent over phone. They might have given you better options

I called Consumer Affairs in SA and apparently as Samsung have deemed my repair 'quick and easy' per their communication with me, according to consumer law I am stuffed. Last Samdung product I will ever purchase. Brand new and they think its fair to replace the entire screen

        • -1

If it was a single pixel then yes - that's not a mayor fault. If it's a a whole line or cluster it's a different story.

          • +3

            @dragonos81: https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees…

Extract from ACCC portal where major problem is explained:

A product or good has a major problem when:
it has a problem that would have stopped someone from buying it if they’d known about it

So would a consumer buy a 65" QLED 4K Smart TV if it is known to have a dead pixel? TBH I wouldn't and hence it is a major fault from my perspective, sorry can't talk for other people!

          • +2

@dragonos81: It's one pixel stuck on green which is worse than a dead one plus several areas of unacceptable back light bleed as reported by service agent. So effectively two issues with the panel

        • I got a new Dell XPS with OLED screen with bad uniformity (grey banding), they would only repair not replace… they didn't turn up 2x to repair it, so then I made a stink and got a new one… with bad uniformity except on the other side and a worse SSD.

  • How did you find this link? it is not listed in education store. please check if you can find the new Sero Tv too.

    • You definitely can find it in education store. You can check Shop - TV - Serif TV and you will find it.

      • I already checked it, it is not listed there, just 55" version.

        • +3

You need to select cloud white colour and you will see 65 inch model. White colour is 55 inch one.

          • @Wayne30: yeah, right. thanks for the replies

  • Does anyone know if you can use the $50 newsletter deal for the education store? I have a code which will not work

    • +2

The education store doesn't have a $50 off code now. But I had applied one couple of months ago and still work with today's transaction.

  • How do you get an account in Samsung education store any workaround?

    • With a .edu address.

  • -2

Oh ok don’t have any edu account

  • how does this compare vs hisense 65q8?

    • I believe hisense 2020 q8 has better picture quality as it comes with FALD. But this serif 65 should comes with one HDMI 2.1 for better gaming and it can easily move to anywhere in your house even outdoor. For picture quality, you can regard serif 65 as a mid range VA panel TV without FALD. Maybe similar to Sony X85 series and Samsung Q70 series. Mid range product. Decent image quality but unique and flexible design.

      • Does this have VRR for the PS5?

  • Anyone know what's up with Samsung and their QN90A stock? I've been waiting weeks for the 65" to restock.

Meanwhile JB running a $500 off promotion on it but still doesn't get it down to the corporate price.

    • +1

I think 2022 lineup is coming. The international delivery and manufacturing capacity are unknown at current situation. Maybe it will restock maybe not.

  • Not bad

Ordered this TV on 25 Jan. Delivery date is 1 Feb. Received message for delay and rescheduled to 10 Feb. Then another delay message received said will contact later. So far no any more update. Contacted Samsung after sale service twice and was told the courier will contact me in 2 days but nothing. So be careful when you place your order as you may suffer the same experience.

  • Is there a list of all the Samsung education store prices somewhere?

Looking for the price on the 46mm classic watch 4 wifi.

  • I have this exact TV. I use it for streaming and gaming. Love it.

Only issue was it arrived with a manufacture defect (big black mark down the side of the frame) and neither JB HiFi or Samsung want to do anything about it.

    TV = Good
    After Sales Service = Awful

    • Could you please confirm that the 65 inch one come with one HDMI 2.1 (HDMI 4)? Thanks. Because I see the normal store lists 65 inch model has that but 55 one doesn't. However, the Edu portal list 55 inch has HDMI2.1 but not 65 one. Our local store does not have a 65 model on display. I ask both instore stuff and Samsung online agents and they cannot give me an answer. I just assume the 65 one has HDMI 2.1 as it is a new release model and I placed order yesterday.
