I love it how the "Skills award" is just a basic backpack sponsoring them lol

You get 1 exam voucher only? Which course is the most worth it?

    • i would like to know too!

If you're want a cert in the very fundamentals of Azure, then Az900 is the way to go, but that's the only advice I can give. Make sure you have a coffee and somewhere to make notes, it's not the most exciting course, that's for sure.

      • In the past I believe people have been able to claim one exam voucher for each "training day" they attend.

I'll be able to confirm in about a week though

        • "You can only opt for one exam offer and backpack per person, regardless of the number of challenges you complete."

@mlakmlak: :( - I'll find out shortly if that is actually the case

            • @robbo600: So far I've booked two exams after attending two sessions, looks like they don't actually keep track of them :)

              • @robbo600: How were you able to book the exams?

                Edit: Figured it. Thanks

MB-910 is one of the Dynamics ones and that's the area with the biggest skills shortage right now (ie, a ton of jobs that can't be filled). Getting that cert won't get you a job directly but it's a start.

    • Do AZ-900 first, next time something like this comes around do DP-900 or PL-900.

    • I'm not sure, I've attended a few at the beginning of the year. I haven't used the voucher(s) yet but plan to soon. Each of them say you receive a voucher, I only see one when I go through the portal to schedule an exam but whether it's just showing the voucher relevant to the exam? Dunno.

      • From memory, when you try to book the relevant course they ask you to validate any vouchers/discounts, it's at that point it appears (as long as you attended the training)

        • Yes, I see the voucher when I go to book. But it's a generic Virtual Traning Day Voucher for all of them. So not sure if it's a unique one for all exams or just a generic single voucher that can be used for one. I'm hoping the former!

In addition, times listed for the training days are somewhere between GMT+1 and GMT+4 timezone, not sure where Op is located…

    • url contains locale of 'en-ie' which is 'English Ireland' so my guess is Ireland.

I'm in Perth (+8), most of the times I signed up for end up being around 5PM here and go for around 3-4 hours.

Not the most ideal timing for people in the east but I've found in the past you just need to join each session, leave it idle and you are still eligible for the voucher.

      • I've attended a few of these recently. Most fall around the middle of the day for ACST/EST. Usually 4 hour blocks with breaks in amongst the content. Some run over 2 days with a 4/3 hour split across the 2 days.

Just to note that this link isn't targeted to Australia. They won't ship the backpack to an Australian address.

"It is only valid for the postal addresses in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland."

  • Sorry for hijacking the post, for a Desktop Support guy to get a new role in Data analysis, are those MS PowerBI cert helpful?

    • it would definitely not hurt! But be aware, usually courses about PowerBI from M$ - is more about how to manage licenses, how to setup and give access to stuff. These kind of courses wouldn't be helpful.

    • It’s a start, DP-900 that is.

Thanks OP, I'll grab one of them for sure. Free certificate and a little extra know never hurts.

thanks a lot, op. I have been wanted to learn to get the cert and maybe one day land myself a data analysis role

    • no, these are useless for data analysis roles.

Get certs from google or imb on coursera.

Learn python and sql and power bi

    Thanks OP for sharing this

  • I didnt check recently so not 100% sure but once you book any related online course and attended in time in any region, you can use it when you book a certification course for fundamentals. This was on since 2019 so I was a quite suprise this can call a deal now.

Looks like you can't replay the stream after the virtual training day finishes, so be sure to watch the whole thing in one sitting…

You dont need to attend the online event for the exam voucher.

I booked for all the events but didn't attend any of them. Exam voucher is already available on your portal. Just booked all the exams for free.

  • If you prefer a session in our time zone
    https://mvtd.events.microsoft.com/?timezone=(GMT%2B10:00)%20Canberra,%20Melbourne,%20Sydney

  • Attended all sessions and have just gone to schedule exams but it says I have no voucher linked? Anyone else have the same problem?
