Nah eagle runs at 1710mhz core (reference speed) and vision and gaming oc run at 1800mhz.
So that made me feel better about the purchase thank you.
not just the core speed, the heatsink, thermal pads, fans, etc better on vision.
Yep instead of plastic, vision has aluminium shroud. Makes it feel less tacky. I'm pretty sure eagle has steel back plate so the same in that sense, wonder if they use better thermal paste/pads than they did for the FHR eagle
@Jazza2400: Thermal pads got changed (upgraded) and they also added 1 MLCC to vision R2.0 cards so its now 5+1 (previously it was 6 spcaps)
@babolimp: They should’ve but eagle is Gigabyte’s lowest end card so not sure about spcaps/mlcc on that. If you can, get above Vision/Gaming OC
is this for rev 2.0? review was from jan 1 2021. considering cancelling order on eagle OC for vision OC
@[Deactivated]: i can't find any resources on vision>eagle cooling etc. other than the marketing, there are no solid details apart from the clock speed (which i assume can be modified - not that i plan on doing it)
@sxgen: plenty of articles and youtube, tl:dr take my word for it, get vision or gaming oc than eagle if you can.
I was using eagle and it feels cheap and plasticky, that's just me.

I have rev 1 and Was hitting thermal limit constantly even in flight Sim.
For benchmark, 75mh/s, when most 3080 get 90-100.
Changed front and back pads, and temps went from 105 to 65-70@full load. Hash went to 98ish.
can't bring myself to pay more than the $1200 that these were when scorptec had em in stock - but definitely worth the premium over the eagle model.

I think main difference between gaming oc and vision is gaming has 4 years warranty and dual bios

I used to run sli with 970's and wow they used to run so hot I recall , but yes sounds like you have had a good run and last I looked 970's still fetch about $200

@Sonnyjimbo: Yes I used 500+200. First voucher came in 3 minutes, second voucher came after about 2-3 hours. I bought them 10 minutes apart. Very frustrating but got a good result in the end.

Lack of RDNA2 deals is doing my head in. Super Tempted by this but i feel RSR is perfect for ultrawide, especially for games like Elden Ring that have no DLSS.
Prices would never had got so high in the first place if AMD wasn't hamstrung.
Rtx 3000 is made by Samsung's 8nm fab, which isn't doing much else.
RDNA is made on TSMC 7nm, same as AMD CPUs, and both consoles. It is sad irony that AMDs choice to use the more advanced TSMC fab is their undoing

If you can afford it, yes. The 3070Ti is more like a 3070, the 3080 is ~ 25% increase but asking $ is around the same. It's not that you wont benefit, it's that if you can afford the extra, it is with the AP code, worth the extra imo.
You are paying for the extra perf, just that it is actually worth it.
Bought this for 2k last year. No regrets, been dunking on kids on Fortnite in 4K 240fps. Good price !
Is the 3080 overkill for 1440P gaming or should I look at 3070ti. Games I play vary from GTAV, RD2, Forza, to CP2022 and Assasins creed etc. I guess I know its kind of future proofing as well but just curious what the brain trust think. Cheers.
Not overkill, especially when you want consistent higher frames. 3070Ti is more like a 3070 than a 3080. 3080 is ~ 25% better perf.

If you want > 60 FPS at 1440p or more future proofing get the 3080. It's the best price / power / heat / performance balance in this series, and has 10G RAM Vs 8G.

If I wasn't still using a GTX 770 I probably would have waited for the new cards at the end of the year but these prices are finally not so horrific and will probably do me for a number of years even if it's not the best value.
Just confirming for those that don't have a high enough AfterPay limit I bought a digital eBay gift card from the Woolworths website which unlike many lets you enter a specific dollar amount (rather than buying 5x $X cards etc) and received the digital card in 5-10 minutes. No issues using the AfterPay day discount plus the gift card to get the amount below my AfterPay limit for it to process the transaction.

I ordered a 3070 ti yesterday for $940 and now starting to think maybe I should have waited and paid the extra $200-$300 for the 3080. Upgrading from a GTX 1080 running 1440p/165hz.

This versus ASUS TUF 3080 at $1.4k? I've got the TUF sitting next to me and I am wondering if I should return it. Seems like the vision doesn't have dual bios, I wonder if the thermals/noise/clock speed would be different.
It will run much cooler (10'ish deg or so) and quieter to boot. It's up to you whether thats worth the extra $150-$200.
Most 3080's and 3080ti's need to be undervolted (such as this). You'll loose 3% or so performance for much, much better thermals.
