iPhone 13 256GB $1409.98 Delivered @ Costco Online (Membership Required) ($1339.48 Price Beat @ Officeworks)

530

Costco have got a pretty great discount going for the iPhone 13, and if you can find stock in Officeworks they will price beat to bring it down even further. Normal RRP is $1519.

Picked up an iPhone 13 256GB in Product RED for $1339.

Some commenters are convinced OW won’t price match, but I had no resistance from the counter when I showed them I was a Costco member, and the supervisor signed off on the beat.

Proof of OW price beat for the naysayers:

    OW will not beat Costco.

I didn’t have any trouble getting a price match. Included an image of my receipt as part of the deal post.

        They said NO to me…

It requires membership so it's against their price match policy.

        • +1

I guess their policy changed while ago, they have removed membership stores in their excluded list.

What is excluded from the Price Beat Guarantee?
          • Cashback and coupon offers
          • Commercial quantities and pricing
          • Stock liquidations
          • We reserve the right to limit sales to reasonable retail quantities.

          • -8

@mountains: Good luck trying to get a price match then…

They will not match stores that have special prices for members only… incl. apple / microsoft educational offers

            • @jv: Agree, bcz educational offers are excluded

              including Apple Reseller Education pricing.

From my last conversation with OW support , they will consider delivery factor if there is no Costco in your city.

          • -2

@mountains: Your post is misleading with incomplete information.

Commercial quantities and pricing (i.e. a reduced price not available to the public and including Apple Reseller Education pricing.)

Costco is not available to the public it is members only.
This is a case of a staff who is a newbie and a manager who can't be bothered. We as a customer win in this case which is not a bad thing. But don't expect this honoured all the time or everywhere.

            • @MKBHD: Sorry for that, what I meant was, OW do price-match Costco, its not against their policy, as long as you show them the price (but not screenshot). It’s not like Kogan or grey imports websites, which they straight away decline.

              • +1

@mountains: According to the policy - they do not! It's clearly written in their policy why.

reduced price not available to the public

                • +1

@MKBHD: You are missing the “commercial quantities” part of the exclusion.

Indeed OW will match Cosvo (as evidenced by the OP).

They will perhaps match educational pricing too as long it’s not commercial quantities. This need to be tested again.

It needs to be retested because OW policies have changed.

                  Jv, when we’re you unsuccessful?

                  • -1

@Eeples: Trust me, this part of the policy hasn't changed. It has always been worded that way. You don't have to take my word for it though, you won't get this price match approved at most stores to prove my point.

            • +2

@MKBHD: Guess there’s newbie staff and supervisors everywhere since of bunch of others below were able to get the same deal I did without issue.

              Or you’re just wrong.

      • With all the comments of success they must’ve changed their terms and now allow the price beat from Costco.

    • It depends… I purchased my iPhone 13 with a Costco pricematch after two unsuccessful attempts at other shops.

    • Got 2x iPhone 13 price matched a few months ago from Officeworks no worries. Did it through their phone service

  • +2

No one can beat Costco because it’s behind a membership

    • JB did, just need to prove that you have Costco membership

    Proof of OW price beat

Just because you found a newbie that went against their policy does not mean others can get it…

Don’t know what to tell you mate, I asked at the counter, and they had the supervisor sign off.

That post is from two years ago too…

      • +2

Hate to agree with jv but this is a ymmv moment. Lets just say pot luck if you can get OW to pricebeat Costco. I mean sure great you got it OP but its no guarantee for others.

        • +1

I’d have posted the extra bit about an OW price beat on “OzBargainIfYourLucky” but there doesn’t seem to be such a site.

          • @Mitch889: I meant my comment as nothing personal. Sure hope you didn't take it like i was insulting you. And i apologise if you saw it that way.

Just saying that people have tried before geting Costco to pricebeat with varying degrees of success.

So to those that got OW to pricebeat Costco. Good on you.

            TL;DR

Asking OW to pricebeat Costco. Sure give it a go. The worse they can say is no.

            • @xoom: Haha all good mate, didn’t take it that way at all, just having a little fun!

That’s what I figured, all they asked was to see that I was a member and that the website showed stock, and the put the price beat through without an issue.

If they’d said no I would have bought from Costco, still a good price.

        • The problem here is not eveyone have Costco membership. So, you cannot show them costco products via Phone for pricematch . And they do not pricematch with the help of Screenshot pictures as it is not live.

          As mentioned by the OP

I showed them I was a Costco member

          • @mountains: This is why I put “Membership Required” in the headline.

Plenty of people don’t have access to some of the deals posted here, doesn’t mean they don’t get posted.

    • No. You aren’t getting it.

      OWs policy has changed.

(It is more likely that OW managers do not know their own policies than there being a newbie manager).

      • -1

        No. You aren’t getting it.

        That's what I said

  • Any Costco deals for the 13 Pro max? Don't have Costco membership so I don't know.

      • What kind of Ozbargainer sorts price from high to low?

        • +1

One who was screenshoting the page as it loaded to help someone out.

          • @Mitch889: Not buying it. Something un-Ozbargainy here.

On another note, thanks, bought one with OW price beat. The attendant first claimed that the $60 Costco membership had to be taken into account. I then pulled out your receipt photo and all resistance whithered.

  • need to consult with Jon Prosser… wait a moment…

  • -1

Which OW in Sydney can Price beat?

    • -1

As long as you have Costco membership, any store.

    • The Auburn one has been great, give them a call, as long the price you are matching is available on a catalogue print or online, they are willing to price match.

  • -1

OW’s can PB over the phone with Costco/Amazon.

    Too easy

  • -4

No need to price match soon as the govt will be giving away more free money.

    • +2

If that’s the case I will have the saving from the PB plus free money from the government. Money is never too much.

      • When you are a Russian oligarch you can get it confiscated by the west, literally because you have "too much".

  • +2

I know some of you can't resist iPhones. But my goodness these prices. I picked up an S22 for half price on release date (JB $450 trade-in bonus + discounted GC from Woolies) and it's a country mile ahead of this!

    • +2

      Cool.

      • Yeah it is actually. OzBargainers typically wouldn't settle on an 11% discount on a 6 month old phone.

    • Apple silicon is a mile ahead the s22, sorry everyone else. Unless you’re pixel peeping there’s not a not whole lot else.

      • Not the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, it's not.

        You get:
        - The same size phone
        - Gorilla Glass Victus+
        - A frame that doesn't dig into your palm
        - Smaller display bezels
        - Always-on display
        - All of Samsung's software goodies including Dex and split-screen
        - 5 years software updates guaranteed
        - 8GB RAM
        - Larger camera sensors and OIS has greater movement
        - 8K video
        - HDR10+ 120Hz brighter display
        - In-display fingerprint sensor
        - Bluetooth 5.2
        - USB-C with faster data transfer

FYI: I just phoned an OW store and put on hold a Midnight. Girl told me the Costco link would be perfectly fine for PB.
    Cheers.

  • +3

I don't have a Costco membership but OW price matched over the phone with no questions.

  • Popcorn…watching from a safe distance!

    • +1

Im watching from behind plexi glass just incase sparks fly between both sides.

  • Green is OOS at Costco. I don't think Officeworks will PB the Green one!!! :(

    • If theres is anything i can be sure of. That is if its not same model same colour. No pricebeat for you.

Found this out the hard way. Was buying a sony bt speaker but the black one was sold out so only manage to get pricebeat on what was not sold out which was blue.

  • I got PB once for an item by Officeworks which was OOS but it actually wasn't OOS when I called. I was on hold for 20-25 minutes and in the meantime it got OOS. So I told this to the Officeworks team member and they still PB it.

  • Officeworks internal policy is not to price beat Costco. The price must be publicly available to be eligible for the PBB. You may have got lucky, some supervisors don't give a shit, but no store manager would approve that price beat.

Thanks OP, got one from OW Auburn

  • Oh man, Thanks so much for ur post and I have got same price from OW

  • eBay plus gives a 12% off can bring the price down to $1399.86 whichs rrp is 1590

    • That RRP is inflated, it’s $1519 from Apple and has been since launch.

      • ebay is not a place for fairness haha

  • While some debate whether Costco is included or not in the price beat, I told my friend about this deal and she picked up 2 iPhones without a Costco membership.

    Thanks OP for the deal.

    • -3

The debate isn't whether people have gotten OW to pricebeat Costco or not. The debate is whether OW will do or have done it for all their customers. And the answer to that is no.

Dont get me wrong. If you get OW to pricebeat Costco. Then 👍 thats a win for you.

      • +1

I'll probably be shot down for this, but when I spoke to OW recently, I was informed their policy has changed. I know in the past (early last year) I was denied a price beat from Costco as well, but I suspect that has changed if many people are getting it more easily and perhaps some of the staff just haven't been informed of the new guidelines.

I've had similar issues in the past with OW where not all staff know the latest rules around the price beat (which is fair as there must be slight changes to the policy more often than we know).

      • I'd have agreed if it's 2019. They have changed that recently between 2020-21 somewhere.

        • -2

Well i didn't specify a time frame did i? And its good thing they changed to policy. A win for us.

  • +1

Thanks OP! Got one from OW. The counter checked with OW manager, and confirmed PB with Costco without any questions.

  • Isn't the same version? It says AU$1,329.00

A very quick scan of their FAQ reveals this:

“ Some products described in our online catalogue as “AU STOCK” are covered by manufacturer's Warranty, and other products may be covered by international warranties. ”

That iPhone is almost certainly a grey import.

      • thanks mate
