    It's a good number but it's a $250 phone for $250.

    • +6

would rather pay 100 more buying it from somewhere else

      • +2

Just because it's on sale doesn't make it a good deal, Padawan.

        • +7

there is no such thing as good deal from HN, even joining the sith is better than this..

  • +5

HN is the biggest problem here, even more than the MediaTek processor it comes with

Its a solid aussy business. Isnt it a good thing

          Im not a politician.
Stick to my line despite what the polls say

          • +1

@gimli: If that's the case, please give me 10% of all your overseas purchase costs. You don't mind because "you're not a politician".

It's done more than that though, it's allowed HN and other Australian retailers to further increase the "Australia tax" they charge (the GST on foreign import shifted consumer WTP, equilibrium price is more expensive). So might as well give me an extra 10% on everything you buy that isn't exempt.

            • @decc0: Nothing stopping you from purchasing things from cheapest seller worldwide.

              • @gimli: You do realise how stupid you sound right? Gerry Harvey advocated to put an extra tax on doing exactly that.

                • -1

@decc0: Gerry doesnt control taxes. Government does.

                  • @gimli: Who are the two people/bodies benefiting from this? Come on, think hard and I'm sure it'll come to you.

For you to support this means you're either wilfully idiotic, completely naive or government incentivised.

                    • @decc0: Lol quick edit.

Isnt it normal for gerry to advocate for his business

                      • +1

@gimli: Why yes it's completely normal for Gerry because he's absolute scum who takes advantage of everyone and any opportunity he gets. I fail to see how this makes it more appealing to give him money?

                        • @decc0: You should by whats cheapest

                          • @gimli: Buy*
The cheapest things are often still imported. They just cost more now.

Even if something saves you a dollar today at HN it'll likely cost you more in the future.

                              Any evidence?

                                @gimli: Hmmmm yeah I wonder.
                                - Keeps $16 million of JobKeeper
                                - Constrained supply of RAT tests

                                - Rallied against increasing minimum wage and existing wages restrained to "make the nations workplace more competitive"
                                - Falsified information on store credit cards, signed up those without stable incomes or strong English then took debts from their welfare payments

                                Perhaps you prefer more specifically

I'll leave out all the shitty comments he made such as "COVID-19 is a great business opportunity" otherwise this reply will be twice as long.

Is that enough evidence for you? This is all just recent stuff too.

                                • @decc0: i would just get the cheapest
price match OW if you can

So out of curiosity, are we against MediaTek processors because they are actually bad? Or because they have been typically associated with budget devices with poor performance? It seems all the big players have moved to using processors other than Qualcomm for non-flagship devices and I don't see many bad things about them other than that they aren't a Snapdragon, when compared with equivalently priced devices with Qualcomm chips anyway.

To be honest, I'm more concerned about the screen resolution than the processor. But then being a lower resolution will help performance so…

    • I think more the second. But also for loading other custom ROMs, because apparently Mediatek doesn't have much documentation available so finding a compatible ROM would be difficult.

      • Man that takes me back… used to buy Nexus devices exclusively until they shut it down - flashed my Nexus One so many times I killed the eMMC chip. I haven't really seen the point in custom roms since, I just buy phones that have decent vanilla software out of the box.

        • Same. I said in an earlier post that I'm tired of flashing. Samsung have promised 4 years of upgrades to their new line of phones, and if they can keep that up, I'll buy another Samsung in another 4 or 5 years.

OW do not price beat/match clearance items!

    Clearly says on their website

    • Perhaps, but I bought it at the Alexandria OW yesterday with price beat at the cashier. Just shown them the HN web page and he checked it for about 30 seconds then it was done. It was their last one in stock though.
