Amaysim Porting Problem - can’t receive calls

I’ve recently transferred my prepaid
Mobile phone service from Kogan to Amaysim. They have ported my old number across however, I can only make phone calls. I cannot receive calls. Caller gets the message “Your call couldn’t be connected. Please check the number and try again”. I also can’t send or receive texts if I’m away from my home wifi connection.

Optus has advised Amaysim that it’s possibly due to maintenance on our local tower however this has been ongoing for 2 months and 4 other phones that are also in my household work fine on the Optus network. I’d prefer they say we honestly have no idea rather than give me these excuses.

Have both shutdown and reset network settings on the phone multiple times.

So finally got jack of it all and bought a Belong prepaid SIM. They need to send me a Verification Code which of course I can’t receive because my texts with Amaysim aren’t working.

Has anyone been in the same situation and do you have a solution to enable me to receive calls and texts.

  • I had the same situation like yours when porting from Coles Mobile. I had to escalate to their porting team, it was very inconvenient when I had to deal with the same answer that it will take 5 business days to resolve the issue but in fact, it was more than 2 weeks to finally get it working. I also had to chase up with them via email and phone calls. I even told them that I would escalate to TIO so that they could proceed it sooner. However, I had no problem to port from Catch mobile to Amaysim for my wife so it is like "hit and miss" experience

    • Thanks. I think my next step will be the TIO.

  • I ported from Cloes to Amaysim. It was the cheapest deal.
They said for private use only. Since I had a business name under the same number they blocked all important business calls.
Back to an original provider. So far all good!

      A curious question.

they blocked all important business calls

Sounds like from this you are saying other calls werent blocked?. (This would be a different message from saying blocked all calls)

Or am I misreading this, so If it was

How did they determine a call was a business one?

      • Outgoing calls either failed or returned a busy signal. I guess they had the receivers numbers in the yellow pages listed as business.

  • Hi were you able to solve the issue,
I just had the same problem.
Please advice how were you able to resolve the issue.
    Thanks

    • My case was that the call forwarding somehow was set forward calls to a number. Not sure if it is amaysim programming or the sim card itself. I turned it off (need to try a few attempts - may be phone issue). Then incoming calls worked.

  • In case helpful - I had the same issue until I allowed notifications. I can now receive calls
