    This or the 9i

    • +2

      Which 9i?

      • +4

Isn't this JB deal much better if you don't need Thunderbolt for $1199. You also get a 2.2k touch screen as far as I am aware vs non touch in this deal. You can also reduce the price further with discounted JB cards.

        Key Features

        14" 2.2K IPS (2240 x 1400) 300nit touch display

        512GB SSD storage
        16GB RAM
        Integrated Graphics

        Wi-Fi 6

I'd personally prefer the JB deal because of its touch display but that's a Ryzen 5U and this one is i7H which is a faster processor and has Thunderbolt. They are both good, each to their own.

          • +6

@Rimas: Sorry but you are incorrect about the processor performance. The 5600u hexa-core is a lot faster than the quad core i7 in this deal. The 5600u is also more power efficient at 15w TDP vs 35w TDP of the i7. The better performance per watt of the R5 would benefit battery life.

If you look at the unbiased Passmark

            https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/AMD-Ryzen-5-5600U-vs-In…

            AMD 5600u scores 15299

            i7 11370H scores only 12140

    This or carbon?

    • +2

Carbon, if you care about a full suite of ports and integrated 4g/5g

      • Mainly concerned about weight, followed by specs then price.

        • then this for the specs you are getting for the $

        • this has 2 fans, carbon has 1. but carbon is unbelievably light.

    • Also, Carbon version may have a better screen than this one.

      • the carbons that were on special all had full hd screens instead of this 2k screen.

    • +1

      Probably neither ;)

      Carbon runs hot. And loud.
Source: work has 10 9th gen carbons, and I have a similar 6th gen x1 yoga.

This actually has decent air intake / exhaust. Source: wife has the cheaper i5 / 8gb version.
Don't expect great battery life though (get a 5600u / 5800u based amd).

      • Thanks for the honest reviews. Yea, the Intel kinda puts me off. I'll probably wait for EOFY sale. Hopefully something decent comes up

  • +2

How come it's a Yoga and the screen is non-touch 🤦‍♂️
    This is a deal-breaker.

    • +2

Yeah, these days Yoga is just a class of laptops with slightly better build than ideapads and doesn't imply anything else.

      • Are Thinkbooks considered better than Yoga's? I think they have more ports but Yoga display is better?

        • Budget business grade vs pro consumer grade. Targeting different segments, so I can't really compare them.

          • @Rimas: Are Thinkbooks considered budget business grade? Can you please put in order from best to worst the Lenovo lineup.. or link me to where I can read about it. I couldn't find anything. It seems so confusing and they make so many models with small differences. They should put out a 1.5kg 14" laptop with 4x USB ports (2x USB-C), micro SD card reader, fingerprint scanner, HDMI port, 32GB memory, 1TB SSD, OLED display, 90hz refresh rate, 2.8K resolution

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: For general consumers, it starts from ideapads and stops at Yoga. For Businesses users, lowest lineup is Thinkbook and then up to ThinkPad. It's consumer lineup has better austethic and look and feel but less build and component quality. The business lineup is made to run 8 hours a day everyday and can take some bad behaviour without any complaints

              • @Rimas: Thanks, so Yoga is considered their best laptop for general consumers?

                • +1

@[Deactivated]: Yeah although I've found ideapad Pro series to have as similar build quality but yeah Yoga is generally better build

    • Because it is also known as the "Ideapad Slim 7i Pro".

5800HS, MX450 and 90hz higher resolution display are available at Lenovo EDU for $1500 if you don't need Thunderbolt.

    • isnt mx450 super power inefficient. Will probably wreck your battery

      • Can always turn it off if need be.

  • Im curious whether this price work out cheaper in yestedays TA deal with 10% cashback

  • -1

    Scomo or albo

    • +2

      Neither there both 💩💩💩

  • -4

This is not 2K resolution. It is higher, Lenovo calls it "2.2K". 2K is 1080p.

    • Sorry but what you are saying is incorrect 2k is generally viewed as QHD(2560*1440). Full HD is 1920x1080.

      • yep, as far as pc convention goes 2k is 1440p and fhd is 1080p.

Its a mess over on the TV side because manufacturers f*ked it up to trick consumers.

  • What is the screen spec anyone know? Saw 2.2k in word description, while 2.8k 90hz in the picture. Can't find the model number in Lenovo web.

    • 14" 2.2K (2240 x 1400) display

    • AMD version is 2.8K (2880 x 1800) with 90hz refresh rate
      https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/yoga/yoga-slim-series/Y…
This was on sale a few days ago for $1,325 ($1,193 after cashback)

      • Is battery life better on 2.2K/Intel model vs 2.8k/AMD ?

Which one is the better laptop?

  • nearly in five big websides include Lenovo has same prices.
