Negotiating on 2022 Hyundai I30 N Line

Hey guys, partner and I are looking at getting new i30 n line hatch in the coming few weeks.

Has anyone had any luck negotiating down / inclusions recently? Just wanting to get a gauge on how things are currently.

Will be a DCT in fiery red.

    You must be new here

The best you will get is a free handshake on signing the contract of sale.

    • Nah, if they’ve got their charisma maxed out they might get free floor mats…

Unless you ordered it several months ago, good luck getting it in the coming few weeks.

Few ~weeks~ , no ~months~ , no ~multiple months~, no make that next financial year at least or calendar year.

Oh, easy 20% off. It’s not like there is a shortage of new cars with all the people returning to work increasing demand, floods washing them away, chip shortages, assembly worker shortages, shipping costs increases, etc…

  • getting new i30 n line hatch in the coming few weeks SEVERAL MONTHS.

    FIFY.

If you can get it before the end of the year you'll be doing better than most.

If you are lucky you might get free mats thrown in, but you'll be paying full retail for the foreseeable future.

Love the know it all comments here.

We visited a few dealers today and many had floor stock + unallocated deliveries over the next 4-6 weeks…

From what I gather on new orders with Hyundai best people are getting is free mats / interior pack and free metallic paint.

Seems like you know it all then

Stay away from metallic paint, every dent you need to repair is costing 1000's, because the whole part needs to be spayed.

      • +10

Are you painting the panel or desexing it?

      • Huh? I've had PDR done to plenty of my cars with metallic paint. Costs $100 per dent.

    • free mats / interior pack and free metallic paint.

So maybe $500 or so (trade price) discount, I gather?

I managed to get about 4% off on a new car purchase recently (delivered on April 13), which i was pretty stoked about. Irrespective of negotiating the sticker price, the car was still about 10% higher than what it would have been if I'd bought it two years ago. So whilst I feel slightly better for myself with a discount, I am also very aware it's a false economy.

In terms of how long from test driving a demo, to pickup, that was less than 3 weeks… but:

    a) they had once recently arrived in that period and one more coming on the ship in the next month, so
    b) I could take the one that just arrived as is, or I could take the one arriving in a month as is, but if I wanted to spec colour or options myself, that would be 4-6 months at best.

    • lol… who is downvoting all these comments? OP surely…

Literally answered your question with yes, i got a discount… what more do you want answered?

Someone who didn’t max their charisma skill and couldn’t get a discount…

      Which make/model though?

      • BMW 1 series for me, which is popular enough because the other one has already sold since and there are zero for sale from new in WA right now, only demo or used.

That being said, my mate purchased a standard i30 the same time also secured a tiny discount from 26490 to 25490 and was told 4 week wait that ended up being 12 weeks.

        Proof

        • Not doubting you, just seems your model is very niche. Both you and your mate lucked it out I guess, as I have a couple of friends, who are still waiting for theirs, but their choices are more mainstream SUVs.

  • Few weeks…… bahahahah

  • OP can't handle the truth, so I've given everyone the assistance they need

    • Except you didn’t mention what vehicle you purchased. It does make a difference. Popular vehicles have 12month and more wait and virtually no discount. Less popular have shorter wait periods and discounts as stock is available.

      • My vehicle irrelevant to this particular comment. I am just upvoting everyone who told him he won't be getting i30 N line that fast and that he subsequently negged.

  • I guess the i30 n line is pretty popular right now, so whilst it’s worth haggling, it might not amount to anything. But give it a go, you don’t know until you ask, right? Good luck getting one before the end of the year at a discount unless you happen to tell the dealer that you will take whatever they can find in the country, whatever colour it is.

The only people I know who’ve secured a discount (or throw-ins) in the last year or so for a new car have been those willing to take whatever the dealer has in stock at the time. Start selecting colours that aren’t in stock and you’ll be waiting for a while. Not the same car, but wife ordered a Kia Cerato GT in October last year and she’s been told it should arrive in June… but to expect delays.

  • Due to minimal available stock in Australia, there is zero incentive for salespeople to provide the discounts that we’re once possible (10-20%) all those years ago.

You’ll be hit with a 3-4 month wait (maybe more) depending on colour and package you order at the time. As there’s a semiconductor shortage, there may also be a discrepancy on what features are listed on online reviews vs what the manufacturer will provide.

Ask for floor mats, upgrade to metallic paint as these are about as much as most people are getting.

  • For all the people who were so smart here, settled on a deal today.

1.5k off sticker price, free mats, window weathershields and bonnet deflector.

Car is in stock ready to go.

    • Yeah. you sure stuck it to everyone. Massive discount there.

    • Not bad OP. How long did you have to negotiate? Did you have another option / dealer to play off against?

  • Contact a few car brokers like motor scout. You will get the best price for sure. My mate ordered a prado VX for 83k and insisted that's the best the show room will do. Got him on to a broker and pick it up for 79k. Even the few brokers had different prices but no need to go to show room to haggle.

Got about 7% off a white NLP for delivery in 3 weeks. Sub $39k.

    • Sedan or hatch?

      • +2

Hatch. New. 12m rego + 3yr servicing, mats. SA. Got lucky with a demo arriving that they were happy to sell. At least that was the story.

I'm happy but geez, in hindsight, it seems a lot to pay for such a small car.

        • Wish I'd negotiated boot protector into the price.
