Just be careful to check you have the right Hub…The Arlo Pro 3 cameras were backwards compatible with older hubs, but pretty sure this one isntt
Can these be set up to do continuous recording to local storage?
Yeah not bad when considering you need to pay them upfront for device + ongoing subscription too

I have used arlo pro 2 myself, from my experience I would not trust the magnetic holder, the camera or camera along with magnetic holder both have fallen to ground multiple times, and got damaged.
So if you get arlo pro 2 I recommend getting it screwed instead of sticky taped to the wall.
But otherwise arlo pro 2 is decent, it could not clearly show the number plates of my car though, (on 1080p i think). But the image was decent. Night vision was decent too.

without subscription, pro4 is rubbish.
How can I secure my house with cameras that cannot leave footprint?
Every feature of this product pushes the customer to subscribe.
Even I have purchased a hub to save money, it is not a good solution, many limitations: port forwarding is a shit, no footprint preview for the videos in the hub, need to download and need to keep the device in the same router of the hub. if you are using a mesh router sets, need to let the device connects to the specific router that the hub wired. One more ugly feature is that there are many limitations on the shared account. For example, the shared account does not have access to videos in the hub but can have access to footprints when you are in subscription, which means you have paid for the hub but only the admin account can have access to the footprint videos.
One more, all AI futures are included in the subscription, without subscription, any motion, people, vehicle will be summarized as motion simply.
