  • you missed out

there were 3 places doing them for $220-230 delivered

    now its $250 minus del.

just wait… they'll go on special since the 3rd version is due reasonably soon

  • i want them back on for $220 - $230, if any reps go through forum, let us know.

  • EDIT: dw

  • i have n40l with receipt ~1 1/2 months old … nas project fell through.. added extra 2GB ram.. $230 pickup sydney

    • If ct110 isn't interested I am, I'm located in the Castle Hill area

    • whats the specs?

    • still available???

  • yeah I really wish I bought it back when they were cheap as well..

    • Ditto, anyone know of any deals on the horizon for these?

      • megabuy have the n36l for $219

the n40l is now too expensive at $289

        they pretty much the same

  • would people still recommend getting one of these, or is there a successor close to being released?

    • +1

      my opinion is hold off

the N40L is a tad expensive however there's no indication the N54L microserver is coming out any time soon

this is powered by the Turion 2.2 cpu

on the other hand there's no indication of price

by now HP must be aware that the server is a success but if they price it too high well they won't sell any at the volume that makes any money… a vicious circle

also it wouldn't take a genius to work out a $240 N40L probably makes stuff all profit for HP

      • yeah hopefully we do see something like that soon, I'm going to try to hold off, however if they do drop back down to ~$200 I think I'll have to indulge

  • I recently put together a server using parts I had around. E2140 CPU, 2 gig of ram, ugly case with powersupply, 1tb hard drive I took out of my computer as I had a 2tb & 1tb in there.

I put win 2008r2 on it. Works very well, I would not have bothered to do it if all I wanted to do was to share files. I am running an exchange email server and also hosting my websites.

Don't pay for a server, if you want to use it simply as a file server, I would recommend a cheap $30 Network LAN Storage NAS USB Print Server from ebay which you can just plug USB drives or drives with a USB adapter.

    • sure if you can build a server go for it

thing is the microserver is small… i can fit 3 microservers in the space of one tower pc… this cannot be overestimated as i have a pair doing VM duties in a very small space and it looks pretty

microserver saves power often being half the power draw of a standard pc

microserver is really cute with a locking door and trays

      ozbb loves toys
