Home wireless music around the house with iPad?

Scenario :Currently I have my ipad, iphone and a maccbook connecting to my APPLETV which then is connected to my Logitech 0122 - X-540 5.1.

Challenge:

  1. Now what I wanted to achieve is playing music in different rooms (dont mind buying another surround sound). I wanted to play music from my iphone/ipad to apple tv which in turns should give me an option (can be through another music system app)to choose which room to play to.

  2. Also what are the best option to connect all the speakers wirelessly connecting to surround sound ?

Any suggestions would be a great help

  • I have sonos its expensive but does exactly what you want and does it well!

They also have stand alone speakers too that act as a zone but that video is old so they don't show them

  • +1

Wouldnt be easier to install 3 airport express in three different rooms costing ($300) with speakers attached to them.

I wanted to do it in my new house where am going to pre-install the speakers with the amp and wanted to declare every room as a ZONE. Wanted to know if its possible to change enable/disable voulme of zones through an app ??

I think Onkyo does it with its app http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/onkyo-remote/id417695144?mt=8 but not sure how good is it.

  • I tend to agree, 3 x Airport Express units plugged into suitable speakers may be a better option as you can then switch on the fly between them etc.

We've also got a Wireless Bluetooth Adaptor http://www.logitech.com/en-au/speakers-audio/home-pc-speakerā€¦

Plus a range of Wireless Speakers http://www.logitech.com/en-au/speakers-audio/wireless-speakeā€¦

The Sonos could be another solution and/or our Squeezebox range of products

  • The cheapest and easiest option is to get an FM transmitter. The quality isn't perfect, but it is generally good enough.
