Should probably note that this is for Cold only

  • if it holds cold it should also keep warmth?

    • I don't think so, this is on the Thermos website for a cold only product

      CAUTION
NOT FOR USE WITH HOT LIQUIDS.
For cold liquids only. Hot liquids may cause burns.

      • oooh ok I think it's just saying not to put hot water in it because you could burn yourself if you drank straight from it. Warm water should be ok I reckon. Or just pour the hot water out and let it cool for a bit before drinking?

        • I would be more worried about wrecking the actual Thermos if it's not made for hot temps. Warm might be ok but I don't think it would keep at that temp for long

Edit : just realised this is stainless steel so nfi why they dont advertise for hot. Maybe it sucks at keeping things hot lol

@MeesusEff: I'm assuming the plastic lid isn't made for hot liquids.

@RichardL: Add hot water, shake around in backpack, open and watch the jet of hot water/steam shoot out faster than a ping pong ball at a Thai show.

I believe it is due to the design of the spout, which makes it difficult to sip it like a cup and more like a straw, so risk of burning is higher since hot liquid doesn't pass the lips.

        • Thermos does this with all their kids' insulated bottles too. If it was a danger of burning, why not tell us that's why? There's still value in keeping something lukewarm for a kid. If it is because somehow the plastic spout can't handle high temps, just tell us the max temp we can put in.
