Jabra Elite 7 Active True Wireless Earbuds $178 (+ Bonus $50 Gift Card) + Shipping ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Harvey Norman

330

First post, go easy. :)

Was looking for a good pair of true wireless earbuds for the gym and found this deal for Jabra Elite 7 Active.
Cheapest I've seen. Same price on Amazon, but with the bonus gift card it came down to $128.

My local Harvey Norman store let me use the gift card at the same time, so I also purchased a Belkin 37W Dual Wall Charger with PPS for $27 (RRP $39.95).
https://www.harveynorman.com.au/belkin-37w-dual-wall-charger…

Offer is valid from 16 June - 30 June 2022. Bonus gift card(s) only available with selected products as advertised. Gift card is not redeemable for cash and cannot be used in the transaction in which it is issued. Gift Cards are issued by Derni Pty Ltd and expire 36 months from the date of issue. In the case of a refund of the purchased item and the gift card is unable to be returned, the value of gift card must be deducted from the refunded amount. Terms and conditions apply. The Jabra Elite 7 Pro is the best for sound quality according to RTINGS and these are very similar. Great buy!

Thanks, the call ratings not so good though

      • Calls are fine.
Personally underwhelming for listening music. Good office all rounder and workout pair

        • hm…the comment below that talks about call being crap rather interesting :)
I guess everyone's opinion would be different

    • Jabra Elite 7 Pro is selling for $179.1 on TGG https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/jabra-elite-7-pro---titanium-… with the promocode CHILLY10. I'd pay the extra $1.10 to get the pro over the active.

      • That code CHILLY10 no longer works.

    BEFORE YOU BUY THESE:

I've owned them for a few months, using the latest firmware etc. and they sound great for listening to music, videos etc. but for calls, they are absolute CRAP.

The ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) causes the mic to sound very choppy in otherwise quiet rooms, it almost sounds like its enhancing things you can't even hear in a quiet room. In noisier environments they do sound better but still not great. Even when you turn the ANC off via the Jabra Sound+ App, it makes little to no audible difference which leads me to believe that this is a firmware issue yet to be resolved. The mic does sound decent when you record your voice via Facebook messenger for example but quite poor overall in all actual telephone call scenarios.

I have raised this "very common issue" (just do a search online and you'll find a lot of similar testimonies) with Jabra customer support to no avail.

Personally I would opt for the Active 4's if you're still sold on the Jabra elite series and intend on using them for phone calls as well as some media playback.

    Hope this helps, cheers.

    • Do you recommend use these for shower daily

      • +1

        Not sure if serious?

      • I have the 75t Actives and use them in the shower occasionally without issues.

          Right, serious then.

    • I observed the same for many other true wireless earbuds. Lol. The environment noise cancelation for calls screws up the experience more than improve it. Jabra 7 and Creative Outlier Air totally screwed up in this department. The strangest part is they still release them boldly highlighting it as a feature. Haha.

      • Could you clarify if you have personal experience and in your personal experience how this occurs?

I suspect that the terrible call quality happens when only one earbud is in. The Jabra's rely heavily on being able to "centre" on your voice and taht requires the balance from two ears. They really should account for single earpiece use though but i suspect this is the reason crap call quality can occur.

My experience with both of them is, When I start answering a call, first few seconds, call quality is fine. Then my voice starts breaking and becomes inaudible as the ENC kicks in. The easy way to test this if you have either of them is to do a voice memo on the paired device wearing these.

          • @usbc activist: hi, sorry it's not obvious and just wanted to clarify. Are you wearing both earpieces at the same time?

  • So 7 Active/7 Pro owners, would you recommend this over the 85Ts? I feel like the 85Ts are still the better package. i went from 65Ts to Sony wh-1000xm3, now that i've cleared Sony warranty, looking to go back to Jabra in-ears through JB replacement program because having a tonne of teething issues.

    • I've recently got the 85t. Been using 65t for a while before hand.
Sound quality is better on 85t.
Fit for exercise is better on 65t.

Anc is a waste of time on 85t. I definitely wouldn't buy it for that.

      • just the answer i needed. Yeah i had a great experience with the 65t's. The Sony XM3 is good but its such a hassle to carry around especially for just ducking in and out of woolies. I'll wait for 85Ts to go on sale. i bought the 7's not long ago during one of the Amazon deals but returned it without trying them when i realised my Sony's warranty was ending soon lol

        • Yeah the 85t is good. Only reason I bought was sale for $161 at jb.
Another thing the 85t has going for it is you can connect to 2 devices at the same time and it does work properly.

          • @Juggernaut1984:

I believe the 7s can now do this as well thanks to a firmware update.

          • @Juggernaut1984: Anyone find the 85ts pick up a lot of sound around your environment when using for calls? Not sure if that's just how it is for earbuds or its specific to 85ts

    • Depends what you're using them for? For phone calls it's a definite no on the Elite 7's, you'd be better off with the Elite 4's until they sort out the terrible ANC issues on the 7's.

The other advantage the elite series have is you can use each bud independently and obviously you would assume a longer period of firmware/support as they are newer products.

      • If you disable ANC, will it help with call quality?

        • There seems to be bugs in the firmware, refer to my post above: "Even when you turn the ANC off via the Jabra Sound+ App, it makes little to no audible difference which leads me to believe that this is a firmware issue yet to be resolved."

          Cheers
