Worth pointing out that this is a quartz watch, not EcoDrive as it says in Amazon listing.

Yes, this is classic Aqualand reissue that is appreciating in value.

    • Hm, where does it say that? I can't find it anywhere, unless it's been updated on the site.

      • In the "Product Description" just under "Product Details". Last thing before Customer Questions.

        Product description

        Citizen Eco-Drive Men's Citizen Promaster

        • Oh I see. I guess just ignore that part.

    • EcoDrive refers to their proprietary solar powered quartz movement.

      • So nothing special .. maybe some people are caught up in the marketing .. most of the ecodrives are not that desirable.

        • +1

I personally like solar powered quartz, as you get the longevity of solar power with the accuracy of quartz. But most "watch people" are not a fan of quartz.

@Nedward: This one is not a HEQ but I still prefer quartz over auto for the obvious reasons .. accuracy and no hassles with watch winders.

But yea, lots like autos because it's the thing to do .. not me

There's some very nice quartz Grand Seiko and The Citizen .. super high precision and $10K

@matt-ozb: i’ve moved away from autos ….much prefer the accuracy of quartz and always ready to go as i swap watches regularly and hate the hassle of setting time on auto if not worn for a few days …….

love my solar quartz but get 3 years even on battery ones provided batteries are fresh when you replace them ….

  • What's the microphone looking bit hanging off the edge for?

    • +1

It's a pressure sensor, these aqualand watches have a fairly accurate Depth Meter, I wouldn't rely solely on it, but for casual diving it works pretty well

      • +1

when i owned one took it down 24 metres …..matches the depth on the gauge

  • Here's some reading for you.

Hodinkee have interviewed John Mayer a few times (watch on eBay) so they are a reputable source.

    • Sorry .. watch on YouTube not eBay!! Typo

  • I already have one of these .. not sure if I should buy another couple for investments.

    • Not fully getting the concept. This is a $400 quartz watch and you reckon its investment worthy?

Did you read the links above? .. and check eBay pricing.

You could resell now on eBay for a small profit or sell in watch forums to avoid eBay fees.

They are a classic .. I think they are still manufactured but hard to find and I think only sold in EU and maybe JP.

    • sold mine as i stopped diving and was too bulky for everyday wearing ….was handy when on dive trips as i only needed one watch in or out of water.
but as an investment …… what people ask for these on ebay and what they get are different things …..
