You cant have sexxy without being exxy

    • SSEXXY-time (said Boris)

Have the 34". while it's 49", wife wouldn't say no if I'm increasing my size few inches

    • +4

      What about the monitor? :)

  • +12

I have this, I'm not a gamer, I use it for work - it is a total beast - productivity machine! I run google meets, slides, sheets and a browser full of tabs… I'm sure it's overkill but it is a massive help for me working from home.

I am keen to know how you manage windows etc? (windows or mac?)
Do you have some sort of zoning etc?

I like my three monitors, but think this would be pretty cool if it was able to do window snapping etc.

      • +9

        Power toys on windows

      • +2

I use Divvy, amazing for managing windows quickly.

        • Well give this a go, thanks very much

      • +1

for a Mac .. I use moom to manage the windows.

      • For Mac rectangle is awesome

      • Samsung has their own snapping function as well…. especially for these sizes

    • Whats the difference between one 49' monitor and two standard 24' monitors?

      • +4

This is equal to two 27" monitors.

      • +1
        • You only need a single power cable to run it.
        • You don't have bezel strips ruining your view.
        • It's harder to find good wallpapers.
        • It's more expensive than 2x24" monitors.
        • It's curved.

    • How do spreadsheets go with the curve? Ok or annoying?

      • +1

Honestly, I don't notice it - I tend me make my main area of focus the centre of what I have has a 3 window setup. I'll run a meet/video conf on the right, inbox on the left, main content/focus in the middle.

        • And to have windows behave like 3 separate "monitors" you need some 3rd party software right?
          - just trying to decide between regular (3440*1440) or ultrawide

  • +13

Long and curved. For my pleasure. Bought.

Depends what you're going to be putting on there… I originally had an r9 280x, which required me to to use two outputs (it couldn't do single output DQHD) but the monitor itself can handle splitting itself in half, but there was no way I was gaming on that. I now have a 3080 ti, which is certainly more than enough for stuff on ultra. A 3080 was also likely enough too.

    • Have a 3080 driving this monitor, it plays most new AAA games maxed out without ray tracing usually minimum 60fps, probably not going to hit 120 fps on many new games besides indies.

    • Most modern laptop discreet GPU will do nicely if you don’t game and only use for work. Watching video is fine too.

      • My 6th gen ULV laptop can run a 34" and 27" qhd screens plus the 1080p screen. Safe to say any laptop in the last 6 years can run this.

Limiting factor maybe Max res from one port, but I'm sure this has PBP so you can simulate dual monitors using 2 inputs

I have this and use it with my m1 Mac mini for productivity. Absolutely awesome and the mac runs at the full 120hz

    • -8

Enough bragging.. My Mac Mini 2018 i7 drives a Dell 49” without a sweat.

    • Do you have it mounted on the stand it came with or do u you use a VESA mount to attach it to a monitor arm?

Does it come with a VESA mount or is that a separate purchase? (I was only able to find a reddit post about VESA mounts for their large monitors but that was for the CHG90/CRG90.)

      Thanks.

      • +3

This is the CRG90. CRG9/CRG90/49RG90 all the same model.

I have it mounted on an NB45 hydraulic arm, it comes with the VESA mount in the monitor box.

        • lol .. thanks

.. wasn't sure since the title was similar but not exact match. That "SSEXXY" in it threw me off .. thought it may have been some sorta "special" edition. =P

one possible option for the arm

    • I thought Mac’s cannot output above 60hz on the M1. How are you able to do it?

      • Not sure where you read that but I used to run 144hz fine on my old monitor as well.

      • 60 hz (max) is on HDMI .. for higher you'll need to get an usb-c to DisplayPort cable.

found a video on YT for the mac mini m1 to a c49hg9x monitor .. but should prolly be the same for this monitor.
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVAyEYizeW8

        • Yes and need to make sure it’s a dp 1.4 cable

      • Use DP, not HDMI.

$60 shipping to me in country SA is almost a deal breaker as much as I want this monitor

    • +4

Not sure if you're being serious but its 3% of the total cost. Equivalent to paying $1.50 shipping for a $50 item.

      • +2

That's a clever way to look at it! Never thought of that view before :-D

      • +1

Do you use that same way of thinking when buying other items like mobile phones or CPU?

Most of us tend to pull the trigger when an item crosses a certain threshold, inclusive of things like tax, insurance, freight, cash back, etc.

Many people recently bought a metal detector from anaconda, pretty certain they woukdve seen less dale's if delivery wasn't free.

        • yes, why wouldnt I? As you said its about calculating the total cost of the item. 3% for shipping on an already heavily discounted item is a no brainer i would have thought. If you can find a better deal elsewhere then go for it…

          • @BigKahunaBurger: I think most of us evaluate the quality of a deal by the posted price and not by working out percentages on extras we have to pay outside that, but what ever works for you.

            • @Ebany: Sorry to have upset you by trying to out things in perspective i guess haha. All the best.

  • +1

To any gamers tempted… Consider whether your games will work well in this aspect ratio.

    • -2

They do. You realise you can just use less of the screen if you wish.

      • +3

That's exactly my point. The entire purpose of this screen is the Ultrawide usage. As a gamer, I know many games will only run natively in 16:9.

Anyone with even a little bit of computer knowledge will know that 16:9 on a 32:9 ratio monitor will truly be a waste.

        • -2

Most games from 2018+ support 32:9, for the games that don't there are usually mods to force the 32:9 aspect ratio.

          • +1

@Torrent lord: You don't necessarily get a wider field of view though. Most of the time the periphery vision are stretched to support 32:9. Its still better than nothing but it can be disorienting though.

          • @Torrent lord: obviously never played a flight simulator in your life?

        • -1

          🙄

        • -2

Next to no games that people play don't support it anymore, only one I can think off the top of my head is Overwatch and Diablo 2

          • @cille745: Elden Ring

            • @Capone: I didn't say no games, I said "next to no games"

Considering Overwatch and Diablo do it for competitive reasons, I do think that FromSoftware Games are the only ones that aren't natively supported.

Also note you can still play Elden Ring in ultrawide if you don't want to play online.

          • @cille745: Flight simulators. you heard of them?

        • +1

"I know many games will only run natively in 16:9"

This isn't the case anymore, which games inparticular? Only ones that don't natively anymore are FromSoft's games (which you can still make ultrawide work with)

          • @cille745: Don't question him man, he's a gamer 😜

  • Doesn't look like it's VESA compatible? Or does it include some sort of adapter?

Anyway, higher end monitors should have an option not to include a stand (at reduced price). But knowing how business works, they want to charge extra for a stand than reduce the price for not including one.

    • $999 stand

    • Does come with a mount

    • Just ask Tim Apple.

5K Studio Display $2499 with stand, $2499 without.

      • the samsung display isn't a real 5k display its just marketed as one real 5k resolution is 5120 × 2880.

this samsung display is the equivalent of 2 x 2560x1440 displays side by side. So you can't even compare this to a any 5K display let alone apples.

    • It has an adapter included.

    • +1

Comes with a plate that replaces the stand which is VESA mount compatible

  • "a 5120 x 1440 resolution for maximum clarity in the graphics of your favourite games"

Ahhh, how many games actually support that resolution?

    • +1

Many but it chews up your gpu. I mainly play as a nomal ultrawide so 2 thin black bars on the side.

    • You can also split it into two so it’s like 2 27” monitors

    • Quite a few actually, some need hacks though which can usually be found at https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/

My fave at the moment is Death Stranding which looks stunning in 32:9 HDR, but it's particularly great for racing or flight sims. Playing Mario Kart 8 with steering wheel and a screen like this is glorious.

    • How many games don't?

P.s. that is a maximum res. You don't have to use all the screen if you don't want to 🤷

      • +1

there are many games that support 8K resolution and multi 1440p display views eg 2 to 3 1440p displays at once for games like flight sims.

    • I know flight sims do.

  • I have had the 49" Dual HD, the 49" QHD (this one) and now I have the QHD but curved more (Neo). Never biy the dual HD. It is crap. This one is ok but I will not recommend it. The reason being if yu want this for work you will use the entire screen. Looking to the left and right of the screen is hard. You have to actually tilt to that side because the screen is a bit futher away as the center of the screen. It is usable but not ideal.

So I got the Neo and I can highly recommend it. It doesn't matter where you look your eyes are always the same distance away making it just so much better to work with.

    • Neo 49" G95A is $1,000 more right?

  • Came for the comments, was not disappointed…

  • What does the collective conscience(word of the day) think about getting this or aw3423dw?

    • +1

AW3423DW crushes this in every way except width, better than even the $3000 Neo in a lot of ways as well

      • Thanks mate.

  • The curve on these 49" monitors are insane! My friend has one. I prefer a 38" screen, you get more real estate vertically as its 1600 instead of 1200.

    • I also prefer 38" 21:9 1600p

but monitor in this post is 1440p (not 1200p)

      • +1

Yep, my bad, 1440p, you are right. Still not enough vertical real estate. If there's a 49" monitor with 1600p vertical resolution, I'd be very tempted. I've used my friend's 49", its not long enough vertically.

  • Is this monitor better than Gigabyte Aorus Fo48U for gaming?

    • FO48U will be a much better gaming experience as the image quality and response times are better. It's much worse as a work monitor though due to its size and the ABL dimming

      • Thank you for your opinion, it’s for gaming only and now I am a bit confused with choosing a curved wide monitor like this one or FO48U, and I’ve noticed that FO48U is OLED panel, it seems better image quality, but what is the benefit of this Samsung 49 monitor? Because it’s newly $500 more than the FO48U

  • I got this for $1348.00 last Boxing Day, but this is good price

  • Spend the extra few hundred for a much better panel via the original G9.
