Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 15" Intel i7-1185G7, 16GB DDR4, 512GB $2036.65 Delivered @ Microsoft eBay

PLUSFY22SAFY20

I have been looking to get one of these before EOFY to replace my Surface Pro 7.
List price is $2,598.00 on the Microsoft Website and is $2748.00 at JBHiFi so it seems like a good price.

I was actually after a 13.5" with an i5 processor but this is about the same price.
They do have ONE 13.5" i5 16Gb/512Gb in Sandstone for $1,679.00 if you don't mind the colour (after using the above code).

Great price for an Intel top-spec Surface Laptop!

      Ehhhhh… It's an 11th gen i7-1185G7 processor with only 4 cores and 8 threads…

At this price you're paying for the form-factor, not the specs.

Yeah but beats paying $2750 for it (which is how much I paid for my SL3 with AMD Ryzen and same RAM, storage and screen size)

work have this laptop …..the screen is higher res and better than the 1080p monitors at work …..only down side is the number of usb ports but i think that is because of how thin it is …..nicest laptop i have used …….

      • Isn't this just your typical clamshell laptop? Not the studio or surface tabs.

The Mac aluminium is nice and all, but you can honestly get a redmi or something with a high refresh oled, ryzen and dgpu for this price. Having multiple surface products die out on me, I'd put my money on a Chinese laptop over M$ for longevity

        • But buying redmi is sussy cause if something goes wrong you won't get any support

          • @unahb: with my own experience, warranty is useless and one time my stupid dad spent liks 250$ for harvey normans scummy product care and replavement (888$ laptop screen touchscreen so glass broke, cracky then we tried going in and they said we have to wait fod the hp 1yr warranty to go away and then after that they said product care and replavement doesn't cover accident damage (only covers like ONE broken usb port?) KEKW and then we get a quote from HP for 600$?! For an 888$ laptop Lol! Then sepnt like $120 for an aftermarket ebay screen and it was even an upgrade 1080p IPS over that shitty 768p TN that came w the laptop …

Morale of the story warranty doesn't cover shit and I'd definitely buy a quality redmi laptop if given the opportunity. Then if anything goes wrong it'll be like 150$ to repair the screen instead of getting quoted 600$!!

        • the MS laptop is made in china …..

      • same with most laptop cpu …. the numbers can be misleading ….. even 12 th gen desktop you don’t get e cores until i5 12600k ….12400, 12500,12600 no e cores but lower power 65w vs 125w for the 12600k …..same with mobile chips, they are designed for low power so less cores and built in gpu ….. it’s one reason apple have gone their own way with M chip.

  • Is win 16gb ram same as Mac 8gb ram performance wise? Sorry but really a tech guy

    • It's hard to say and will depend on what you want to do with it. One might perform better for gaming while the other might perform better for video encoding. What do you plan on using it for?

      • Not a gamer, just for daily use. Just want to make sure opening apps is quicker.

i run office suite with visio as the extra …..doesn’t hit 8gb memory useage ….trick seems that chrome eats the memory when you open tabs vs using edge which is less memory hungry …. by default tabs stay open in chrome and after a while i had all these tabs and it was eating 1.5 gb ram ….at work we now default to edge …..a couple of apps still need chrome.

windows vs mac ….. if you are happy with the mac apps and basic office suite that’s fine …. i use visio so it’s a windows machine for me ……the new macbook air m2 out in july will be nice if into macs ….

gaming might eat more memory but office productivity i haven’t run out of memory with 8gb …. and chrome isn’t my default browser …..i have macbook air intel ….have office on it also but not visio ….it’s 8gb also haven’t run out of memory but use safari as the default browser on that machine …..some apps also still use chrome e.g accessing outlook web version from macbook safari has some issues .

they are good until you have a problem - then you are in for a world of pain

    • i thought microsoft is really good support. But this from ebay so not sure

we have microsoft laptops at work …. about 600 of them ……no issues though the aluminium case probably doesn’t take knocks as well as plastic which absorbs impacts ….with people working from home they probably don’t get dropped as much as when people used to commute into work …..

any laptop you send in will take time ….postage, checkin , repair send back .. factor in 14 days … only quicker if you go to a repair centre and they have parts in stock …. same with most brands just based on logistics and work backlog and if parts in stock …..at work we get our iphones fixed at at a hole in the wall repair because he does them overnight rather than we send back to apple ….

      • yep if you like talking to the Philippines waiting weeks for return labels, countless calls to get said labels. reloading everything onto your pc when you get it back after 3 weeks then rinse and repeat if something goes wrong again
        not an enjoyable experience
anything of their chat script is a world of pain as well
