Volta Power Blink Power Bank Set: 2m Long Volta 90º Cable Set & 2.0 Mag Adapter $26.40 + $10.99 Delivery @ Volta Charger

150

Received an email for a bundle deal for social good worth $156 and is selling for only $37.39 including tax, shipping and shipping protection fees. You can remove shipping protection for a whopping $0.60 saved, which makes it to be $37.39.

Adding the initial $30 bundle deal to cart reduces it to $24 for some reason, but the aforementioned fees adds it to $37.99.

This is what you'll receive with this bundle deal:
x1 8000mAh blink power station
x 1200mAh cables (looks to be a typo from their end?)
x3 magnetic tips (x1 Micro USB, x1 Lightning and x1 USB C each)
x1 90º VOLTA cable (2M)
x1 Mag Adapter + Micro USB Tip

Given that each of these products are already ~$30 each I thought I'd give it a go.

Mod note: Prices on product pages do not include GST. Price in title has GST added.

  • A single Volta Blink Capsule carries 1200mAh, which would give your battery the boost it needs for that one mile drive. The Volta Blink Station, however, carries 8000mAh of power, and has a Micro USB power inlet port with input and output of 5A/2V.

1200mAh is the capsules. Which plug into the 8000mAh main power bank that is charged via cable.

    Interesting concept.

  • So it has the blink power station which is 8000mAh and we'd have to buy the small Volta Blink Capsule separately? or does it come with 4 of the capsule as well?

    • +1

Seems no capsule come with that

  • So how many of the 1200mAh capsules do you get?

    • Yeah this is my question. It sucks the input is Micro USB as well.

      • None it seems

  • Are the capsules included? How many?

differnet product but looks like the same OEM.
it comes with 4 capsoles in this one.
also the main unit seems to use micro usb port. (explains :x1 Mag Adapter + Micro USB Tip)

  • I don't get why this would be useful? I fail to see the use case. Anyone care to share?

    • +3

That's why it put on sale.

    • My thoughts also. Looks like you use a battery to charge up another battery to charge the phone battery. Doesn't sound efficient, will lose alot of power in the process.

    • I think you pick up a module as you walk out of the house with a phone on low battery? Just a quick boost, I guess…

      • +1

If it is meant for emergency boost, then you are more likely to forget it at home before leaving , unfortunately, the product doesn't seem to align with human habits :-(

      • I think a boost is going to be useless with a tiny 1,200mah battery. Might as well buy a $10 powerbank

      Millennials home party

  • I thought this was useless but it might actually be useful for my Pi zero.

    • +2

We both know you’re just trying to justify an impulse buy!

  • I would assume it includes 4 capsules per the picture. Otherwise it's pretty useless and who would charge $150 for an 8000mah power bank?

I can see this being useful for when I'm at home and my phone is running low. Instead of carrying around a big power bank plus cable - just plug this in and it supports it's own weight.

  • I impulse bought, assuming it comes with the 4 small capsules also. I foresee it being useful on nights down town or hikes etc. where you need something small you can keep in a pocket or purse as a last resort. May also be useful when PS4 control goes flat during 2 player games or parties where phone games are used.

Personally, I feel this product is more suited to those who like to prepare for the worst. People who typically care free won't appreciate a purchase like this. My 2c.

I have this product, paid almost triple this price because I thought it was such a good idea. Carry one or two small powerbanks on nights out to make sure I have enough juice to get an uber home.

Don't be fooled, this product sucks. I highly doubt each capsule is 1200mAh, it barely makes a difference for charge on my phone, plus each capsule needs to use the stupid magnetic tips which means you cant throw this in your pocket or bag as the capsule will just disconnect from what your charging. And you dont even get enough tips in the pack, you'll have to purchase additional ones if you want 1 tip for every capsule.

edit: oh and there seems to be some kind of parasitic drain on these things as they never seem to stay fully charged which means unless you have it permanently plugged in it's likely going to be useless to grab one as you walk out the door. I left the main powerbank constantly plugged in and still my capsules would often not be charged when I picked one up, I think you have to interact with the base powerbank to turn charging the capsules on or something, I don't know, maybe im too stupid for this product. YMMV

    • When you say not fully charged, is it charged at all? Or 80-90%?

1200mah should give most phones about 20% charge

      • Just tested out one of the capsules on my note 9 and it charged it from 41 to 63. Will try keeping the capsule charged for a couple of days and then try it again.

        Hopefully it stays that way.

  • Just got the unit. Yes, it does come with 4 capsules but as Cretin mentioned it doesnt come with enough tips. Wanted to keep one capsule in each of my bag but will have to buy some additional magnetic tips.

    • +1

If you're just using it to charge your main phone, you can actually just leave the tip connected to your phone and swap out the capsules. Works well actually.
