D-Link DIR-X1560 EXO AX1500 Dual Band Wi-Fi 6 Router - $69.90 Delivered @ PC Byte

Seems possibly to be a half decent deal?
I'm dunce of the class when it comes to this sort of thing though. :)

  • Are they any good for mesh?

    • You need to get a specific extension set for this router.

Probably a decent deal, but don't bother with the wifi on this, get a decent AP.
I have one of these and am constantly having to turn the wifi off and back on on the router

    • errr what do you mean?

Which part are you referring to? It's cheap enough that if you just wanted to use it for a wired gigabit LAN/wan then it's perfectly serviceable. If you have many wifi devices you are going to connect to it… You're going to have a bad time

        • Have you tried setting static IP addresses on the devices you have trouble with? I had similar issues with my android devices and now they connect with no problems.

          • @PhilB321: Static or dynamic, doesn't make a difference. Devices are working 1 min then the next there's no traffic over wifi, attempt to leave and rejoin the network and just end up with a connection error until I disable and re-enable wifi on the router or power cycle

  • I'm a bit of a novice with this type of thing.

Is this both a modem router and a wifi router? We've had an old thing from telstra just doing both but about to move and need my own moderm/wifi. don't need anything broadcasting wifi too far but just something cheap I can plug into the NBN box for 50mbps fibre.

    • This is a wifi router.

If it's NBN box does that mean it's FTTP\FTTB? If so it doesn't need the "modem" part.

The wifi part isn't just about distance but general performance over the coverage area and supporting many devices.

I find it hard to research performance as you get $60 routers and $500 routers.

You can always buy this and then expand with a cheap mesh kit for more consistent wifi if it is bad.

Seems like a few Ozbargainers have had issues with this router. Good price though

  • I used to have this router and it constantly dropped the connection from my devices.

  • I've been using it almost a month now, and had zero issues. Bargain for the price.
