    Thanks OP!

I wonder why they need to know my gender to send some free seeds?

    • +26

Not to mention why they are using the MMDDYYYY date format?!

      • +29

        United States of Australia!

        • +10

          MAGA!

        • +1

Seems they have acquired your username at once !!

    • +3

They want to know what seeds you plan on sowing….

      • +2

        The seeds of discontent!

    • +4

      Because you are the product

    • +1

I'd assume to help with their own market research.

    • +2

they don't need to know your gender; write down whatever you want. I don't think you need a head to know this.

  • +18

last time i received a pack of seeds for a 10m high tree. seemingly randomly selected and pretty unpractical in my situation

    • +1

      Same here. What a disappointment.

    • +8

Yes, but how long would it take to reach that maturity and if you prune it, then it will never hit 10m.

    • +1

Ah that's a shame, We'd have some room for some small shrubs, grasses or flowers but not another tree.

    • +4

Did you ask for your money back?

    • Impractical even.

Free Pack of Native Australian Seeds @ Nature's Own

    Yum !!!

  • +5

I got some form the last giveaway. I planted them but they didn’t grow. It is most likely my fault.

    • +17

Don’t be so hard on yourself… jv probably ate them before they had a chance to sprout. Naturally, they taste better if you toast them first

      • +1

that's what he did before planting them …. XD

    • +3

Natives (and tress in general) are difficult to grow by seed. Most nurseries use propagation via cuttings.

      • +2

Not really true, Trees For Life grow entirely from seed and it's done by volunteers, not experts. There are some natives that need smoke, but in general natives grow naturally from seed of course. The reason nurseries use cuttings is because they want to control variance and it's slightly faster.

  • +1

    Nice!! Thanks

  • +4

Note, if the seeds didn't grow last time, some seeds need smoke to germinate. You can soak the seeds with some crushed charcoal from the fire pit or even better, hold them above the fire pit for a while (not too close or they'll cook).

  • +1

Last time I got annual flowers that didn't take. Wonder if they were suited to my climate

  • +3

some seeds also need the right conditions - soil temp/moisture. If anyone else got swan river daisy, that will likely only germinate in early Spring

    • +4

Plenty of moisture in Sydney at the moment, just not sure where the seeds washed to…

    • +3

much easier just to buy seedlings from a local nursery.. seeds never grow when I plant them.

      • +4

seeds never grow when I plant them.

I probably ate them before they had a chance to sprout.

        • +1

if you waited for them to sprout, then you could have lots more seeds.

          • +4

@Savas: or I could just order more free ones from OzBargain.

      • +1

I always grow everything from seed, much more satisfying.

      • +1

Yeah some seeds can be tricky, and you can easily bugger it up if you don't give them the right germination temperature, enough sun once they germinate, too much water, not enough water.

It's not until I went hardcore on research and also got a grow light that I started to have better success.

  • +1

do they tell you what seeds you will receive?

    • +1

      See post above from mtg.

      • +3

        mtg is over…

Did anyone take any minutes ?
