  • Excellent set and my only complaint is the blade is very slow to go up and down. All other functions are great.

For those of you tossing up between this set and the Liebherr R 9800 Excavator 42100 I'd recommend the Liebherr. Better functions, more motors, better playability. If you can't decide, get both!

Deciding I want both is easy. Justifying the price is the hard part!

    • Only problem with Liebherr R 9800 Excavator 42100 is…. It’s not available anywhere anymore unless we convince ourselves to pay tearing price 🙁

      • According to brickeconomy it's selling for MSRP +/- $20.

  • Will this assist with gardening in the backyard. Need some soil moved?

Couldn't edit my comment as someone already replied but….As for Zavvi I have only had one issue and that was this set took ages to arrive when I bought it. Also, they can suck a fat one for no longer allowing orders via the US site. Everything ships from the UK warehouse but we get bent over on price for no reason. I won't be using Zavvi again until they change their stupid policy.

    • Well, yes it sucks but it's not for no reason. It's for tax/GST reasons.

  • Bought the lego from zavvi and now is held in australia border and customs, not sure if I need to pay tax duty :(

    • if you bought from Zavvi AU site, then it included GST. the US site doesn't have the option to ship to AU for over 9 months so I doubt your bought the set from the US site

You will need to if the order is more than aud$1,000

  • Is this possibly the best price we can get for this set? Looks like this set is not widely available across big retailers other than Toy World, so not much chance of having 20%+ discount.

Stock was limited global wide until recent. Should be available more widely soon. Already dropped to slightly over 500aud in HK. Just be patient.

      • Thanks for your thoughts. Do you know any source that we can purchase this set from HK, with a reasonable shipping cost? Thanks

        • Usually I use HK price as a reference. Right now, 42115 is going up, 42083 is coming down after last hike (postpone retirement date again), just two samples. And as I can see, D11 is going down recently. These are just mine personal experience.

… but then again, will it be impacted by Lego price increases come August/September?

    • Exactly same thing I was thinking … is it the best possible price or hold!

    • I got this set a couple of months ago with a 20% cashback from CR. $599 + 20% cashback made it a good deal. I don’t think it lasted very long though…

  • i've only purchased once from these guys but the box they shipped it in was so minimal the inside is all mushed. I'm not sure how much better a box like this weighing so much would fare

  • Wow this must be the epitome of Lego technics. What a set.

  • Looking for set 10303..

  • Price is good. Just need to wait for further 10-12% cashback.

  • Couple of questions for the lego experts here.
    1. I presume this comes with a technic hub, can you program these to do interesting things ala lego masters, and then have the code run on the hub without a phone/tablet needing to stay connected? i.e, do they remember their programming?
    2. Can you use the 88010 remote control to control the hub?
    Thanks.

    • 1) no, requires phone/tablet
      2) no for this kit, the remote only works for the move hub (creative boost kit) and the 88009 hub (train kits use it). you can still use the remote but you need to program the inputs on the phone/tablet and keep it running. For the move hub and train hub, you don't need a phone/tablet present to make it respond

      • Thanks, so what sort of hub would they be using on Lego masters? Some of their stuff appears to be scripted rather than just continuous motion.

        • When you program in the tablet you can set "time", "rotations", absolute position and relative position. I haven't explored it extensively myself but you can also have it calibrate itself by detecting when it hits a limit, so it knows where the limits of motion are and then you just use sensors, timing or otherwise to trigger the script

EDIT: the first portion was related to motor functions as i'm assuming that's what you meant
