Looks to be the cheapest it's been. Nice bright strips for area lighting, at least for those stuck in the Hue ecosystem.

at least for those stuck in the Hue ecosystem

I wouldn't say "stuck". Philips Hue is one of, if not the best ecosystem for lighting available.

    • Any good runner ups or cheap equivalents on AliExpress?

  • Wifi isn't for everyone but the lifx z strip is still $79. Better colour, brighter, 16 zones, but wifi only so YMMV.

    • isn't LIFX in administration tho?

    • -1

The Lifx strip is only 1m as well

One does not merely get "stuck in the Hue ecosystem".

  • What’s the best way to Mount this in the back of the tv? I’ve seen the clips online, but can’t find any of the hooks like the ones that comes with the super expensive new hue light strip.

    • I use super glue because the adhesives are pretty terrible. If you just use cheap super glue it stays in place but can still get ripped off without much damage if you need to.

      • Then how do you curve to follow the sides of the tv?
I’m looking to mount it to the back of the tv. The expensive version has these adhesive curved clips so you can guide the strip around the back of the tv.
I’ll go search around Bunnings I think.
Like the clips that come with this

  • What does it mean by base kit? If I need a few metres of this stuff, would I buy multiples of this kit, or are there cheaper extensions that omit the "base" stuff?

    • There are cheaper extensions, quite a bit cheaper.

Edit: actually the extensions I've found are only 1m for $35 so might be better value to buy this and get the base / driver. I think you can just cut the strip any length too.

  • Does this include the Hue bridge?

    • nope

Thanks - never mind, I just realised that these are zigbee, so it will work with my ConBee II

          Can confirm!

Anyone know how to tell if these are the current version (V4+ I think?)?

    • Ask an Amazon question or buy and return
No other way unless it states in the add

They're version 4, at least the pic is. Worked out if it has the bluetooth logo on the box it's V4. Philips Aust often continues selling the previous gen long after the rest of the world have received new so always need to check this sort of thing.
