Dont you have to format these from EXfat to NTFS first?

      • Rufus does it automatically

On what machine? Never heard of a USB not working as a boot drive. In a pinch I've even used a USB card reader with a microsd in it as a boot drive.

I have installed linux on these multiple times no issues

yep same just used one as a Ubuntu drive to fix another machine up

      • I only use Sandisk & have used the tiny ones for live distributions & boot disks.

    • Can you give more details, please? How come they do not work? Like Agret, I have never had a drive not work as a boot drive.

    • Have not heard this - are you sure you had secure boot set up with third party CA? Had that problem recently when fresh installing W11.

    • False. You must be doing something wrong mate.

Typing this on my usb w10 64gb drive RN

      It's a bit slow but 100% functional

    • I have the 32gb version and it works fine for installing windows 10 from usb.

      • Ditto, have 65gb one, boots fine

    • Cunningham's Law?

    • This is false.

    • I have 2 that work fine for booting.

Installed medicat on one and other one just for windows boot

    • I've done Windows 10 and various Linux installs from the 64gb version of this….?

    • They do! Great Ventoy USB drive too

  • Whats read write speeds?

    does JB match prime deals?

    • I would ask Woolworths if JB can price match.

I used to buy some 8 or 16gb drives when they were so cheap. Now they become rubbish and I still don't need them… :P

So the question is, should I buy this 128 and 256gb again (before they become rubbish)?

  • Not fast but they work.

    Perfect for Ventoy. Thanks

    • Windows 10, 11, Server ISO and whatever Linux+rescue utilities you’d ever need. Heaps of space for extra persistent utilities - browsers, scripts, apps, etc.

Might be worth grabbing to store RetroArch ROMs and ISOs for XBOX Series S/X…?

  • There's also the SanDisk 128GB Ultra Flair USB 3,0 Flash Drive - SDCZ73-128G for $17.50. User benchmarks suggest peak write speeds around 100Mb/s for the Flair vs around 66 for this one. So lil more cost, lil faster.

The ultrafit is for sale as well for $30 256GB. Good for laptops and keeping it there while on the go.

had a similar one years ago, the plastic that covers the USB connector ended up breaking, and it made a horrible noise every time i inserted it. Also, usually the small USB drives tend to overheat a lot.

At the turning point where most of the devices I use have USB-C ports now

  • hows this?

    • It's fast.

  • Paid $20 for the 128GB one awhile ago when it was on sale. This is a good deal for the 128GB almost 50% off.
