New Feature - Deals can be marked as NSFW

As of today, moderators are able to mark deals as NSFW. (See NSFW deals wiki page for more information). Generally these deals have images or content that are not suitable for viewing in a typical work environment.

By default, NSFW deals are hidden from most deal listing pages. They are however, displayed with images greyed out on search result, store listing and tag pages (for example, if you looked up deals tagged with 'lingerie').

Users can set their preferences to always display NSFW deals in listings without the grey overlay. To do this:

  • Be a logged in user. Anonymous users/visitors of OzBargain cannot opt in to see NSFW deals
  • Go to My Acccount -> Settings.
  • Click on the "deals" secondary tab
  • Make sure the option "Show deals marked as NSFW" has been checked
  • Save the preference

Users can also report deals that should be marked as NSFW using the report link.

    Great idea. It can be a surprise when lingerie comes up on my screen in the office!

      With a model wearing your products walking around your office? Otherwise what you see in the office would be quite different from what you see those sites :)

      It is also why we simply name it NSFW rather than "Not Safe for Work". It's just a flag that moderators would slap on deals that meet certain condition. It might, or might not be safe for your work, depending on what your work environment is.

        I am new to ozbargin and just found out what is NSFW. I agree it is not nice to have a model in lingerie and walk around in your office. But it could be fun in bedroom. So, may I make a suggestion please? Just like TV shows, the 15+ shows after 8.30PM. How about we do this same way at ozbargain? All NSFW deals will be displayed between 8.30PM to 6.30AM each day? NDFWs will be hidden at other time. This could avoid being embarrassing but can also bring some more good deals as well.

          There is no need for that. Users who want to see NSFW deals can already change their settings to view them.

          First of all, most of users are anonymous.
          Secondly, most members don't know how to change the settings. I spent few hours to figure out what was going on for my deal. However about other members?

          Not sure if serious… but people work different hours.. and NSFW is commonly used for "Not safe for family" etc

      Not just the pictures, but the comedy, which we agree can be funny, but also rather lurid at times, which again makes it unsuitable for an office environment.
