  • So this is Pay Now Buy Later?

    • +1

      Appreciate the clarification check!

Do you mean pay now, receive later?

You only pay once at the time of your order. You won't get charged once now ("pay now") and then charged again later ("buy later"). It's a prepaid purchase for 4 monthly deliveries of fresh coffee, similar to a prepaid coffee subscription except with us you won't automatically be charged for a further 4 months after the initial 4 months.

Hope this answers your question, please let me know if it doesn't :)

  • +1

FBC 2.0 looks good! 4 months works perfectly for me this time around.

I noticed at checkout there's still dispatch date options, am assuming this doesn't affect anything as orders will be sent according to the schedule above?

Also, the shop pay checkout screen seems to have shipping at $6.99 rather than $19.66 for standard shipping - just wanna make sure I'm not doing you guys out of any money for great coffee :)

    • +1

Very happy to know FBC 2.0 "look good" to you :)

Point 1 = spot on, just click any date on the calendar and we'll fix it our end, dispatch time frames are in line with this posts messaging

Point 2 = WOW what a wonderfully thoughtful clarification comment, thank you so much!!! One product didn't save correctly in the shipping rules, this should be all fixed now if you'd like to refresh the page to check?

      • Yep, it's fixed now - just placed my order

        • Fantastic, thank you so much, it's truly appreciated and you're a most welcomed addition to the FBC :) :) :)

  • +1

Whole beans only? Was quite happy with FBC 1.0 and pre-ground coffee..

    • Thank you so much for being a Member of our FBC 1.0, hopefully you'll decide to take the plunge on a grinder and join us again for FBC 2.0!

I'm very glad you're happy with your FBC 1.0 experience. I do appreciate where you're coming from and hope you understand the reasoning behind the change. For us to add the most highly requested features for the overall FBC benefit we've had to make a few changes (we didn't make them lightly and thought them over for hours on end). Due to the costs associated with grinding coffee for customers, it isn't financially viable at present to offer that in additional the the heavily subsidised $6.99 Express Shipping available for FBC 2.0. Furthermore, customers who get pre-ground coffee aren't getting the same level of high quality experience as customer's grinding our fresh coffee themselves and we want every customer to get the same high quality experience. Pre-ground coffee oxidizes an an exponential rate once the bag is opened and exposed to additional oxygen, thus leading to more porous coffee and inconsistent extraction (especially with espresso). Fresh coffee is ten fold more delicious when you grind it on demand yourself. However, if you're still not sold on the benefits of getting a grinder (we currently have then at a 30% discount to help with this FBC transition) then we're still grinding one-time purchase orders :)

  • Can’t be done in 1kg op?

    • Nice question!

It sure can be, any quantity is welcome, on the cart page you're able to increase the quantity :)

      • Oh thanks I was reading it all to find out as 500g/month won't work lol

        • Appreciate you reaching out to check in!

Not sure if I've interpreted your comment correctly, am I right to assume you've figured out how to order more than 500g per month if you need a larger quantity? If not, feel free to shoot an email to [email protected] :)

  • Am I doing something wrong: in checkout, it says

4 Monthly Deliveries PrePaid It's Summer Somewhere Blend Express Delivery
    500g Per Delivery = 2kg Across 2 Deliveries

Should it be across 4 deliveries?

    • +1

      Great double check!

Confirming it is 4 deliveries, should be fixed on that product, try refreshing the page now :)

  • +1

Can I just buy and receive them all at once at these discounted price so I don't need to spend the $7 every time for delivery?

    • I would love to say yes and I do understand where you are coming from. However, doing that is not financially viable at present and would likely result in us making a loss on your order. The lower shipping cost is only viable by achieve dispatch economies of scale, which is why all FBC orders are dispatch in the same weeks and the discount applies to 4 shipments. As mentioned above FBC is the most efficient path the lowering shipping costs for one-time purchases, that's what happened with FBC 1.0 and hopefully the same will result from FBC 2.0 :)

  • If we are in version 1.0 of buyers club is that 6 month period now over and we've got all our coffee?

    I can't work it out.

Will three be a 6 month option or we now doing 4 only?

    Cheers!

    • +1

I think we got all our coffee now as of a couple of weeks back. My final delivery (month 6) had both a Tim Tam and a note saying FBC 2 coming soon. So glad to see it's here!

      • Hey Cloo,

Really appreciate the helpful chime in!

Very happy to know you got the Tim Tam, note and are glad it's time for our FBC 2.0 :)

        • I've put in my order for FBC 2.0 - 500g of Moments and 500g of It's Summer. Looking forward to the variety rather than my previous 1kg of the same for six months!

    • +1

      Hey Miso :)

For the vast majority of FCB 1.0 Members, their 6th shipment has been sent out. There are a few people who went away … and have requested a delay on their final delivery. However, I believe you would have been sent your 6th delivery as you did not request a delayed delivery.

FBC 1.0 was 6 month. FBC 2.0 is 4 months. This is just an acknowledgment of the time's we're in, making our high quality coffee and lower shipping costs more accessible for people. Our costs are continuing to rise and we know your daily costs are too, so we thought 4 months was a happy medium for this FBC round :)

      • Thanks - sounds good. I'm in. Again.

        • +1

Wonderful to hear, thank you so much for deciding to continue your FBC journey, hope you love the 2.0 improvements :)

  • Will there still be one-at-a-time delayed dispatch order offers? Doesn't make sense for me to order regular delivery for several months at a time when we're going on an overseas trip in the future.

    • +1

      Hey @Morven,

      Appreciate the double check!

Just like FBC 1.0, FBC 2.0 is in addition to our "one-at-a-time delayed dispatch orders," so yes they will still continue. The benefit of our FBC for customers is reduced shipping costs, less life admin (set and forget ordering system) and access to exclusive rotating Single Origins which are not available for "one-at-a-time delayed dispatch orders" at the time of dispatch. FBC 1.0 Surprise Mystery Flight included coffee from Peru, Colombia, Kenya, Honduras, Guatemala (was a different SO to the SO currently available as a one-time order) and Nicaragua. I understand the FBC frequency won't work for you given your OS trip, hope you have a terrific holiday and look forward to seeing more one-time orders from you swing through our online door :)

  • +1

Tim tam again if I order 😁😁

    • +1

haha, Tim Tam reserved and locked in :)

  • Hey LBC,

    Placed two FBC orders :)

FYI - when placing an order,
    * it prompts a dispatch date to be selected. As I understand, FBC orders are fixed dates as in OP.
    * The terms to be agreed at checkout states 6 months instead of 4.

    • Morning Bomba :)

Woohoo that's amazing, thank you so much for your outstanding order, it's truly appreciated!

      1) Spot on, just ignore that, we'll edit it our end
      2) Really appreciate the heads up, I've found that section of code and edited it to say 4 months. There's so many extra little unneeded messages the app adds, hopefully I've caught them all now, but that there may be a few things like this will don't match the deal messaging. However, for anyone reading this the deal is as above you're welcome to take a screenshot for peace of mind if needed

  • Looking for suggestions from OzB community about a good electric grinder. Thanks

    • +2

Breville smart grinder pro. I paid $169 in 2018.

It lets me make coffee whichever way I want that morning, filter, espresso, mokamaker, Aeropress. Grinder is one of my better purchases.

    • price range?, filter or espresso or both?, usual roast level?, flavour/clarity separation or preference for body/mouth feel?

      • I generally just drink plunger coffee..It suits my lifestyle for now due to two young kids..

      • If it's helpful we've got two grinders on sale at the moment :)

30% off Porlex Mini II Manual Burr Grinder only $76.30 (normally $109) suits Espresso and Filter

30% off Hario Smart G Handy Electric Grinder only $139.30 (normally $199) suits Espresso and Filter

If you order it with a FBC order then the one-time purchase $6.99 shipping will be refunded to you and the grinder included with your first FBC dispatch :)

  • +2

    FBC1.0 was ~$151 for 6kg over 6 deliveries

    FBC2.0 is ~$140 for 4kg over 4 deliveries.

    That’s a 40% jump in prices.
Can you do better Tom? :)

    • +2

Not the OP obviously, but I presume it is a sad reflection of the times we are living in in terms of freight and raw input prices, I almost pressed the buy button on this but hesitated because getting harder to justify now that I have started roasting green beans on the cheap in my garage - I presume more OzB people will start doing this if prices continue to increase.

      • +1

It is easier to roast coffee than I thought. The freshness balances out the imperfections and the savings make it worth.

        • +1

Yah agree thus far - I just have a basic coretto setup, I baked the first one because I didn't having a working temperature probe but my second roast very drinkable

          • @blues99: Oh! Here I am using the popcorn maker.

            • +1

@MakkhiChoos: haven't tried popcorn but coretto likely gives you larger volumes and more control if interested

      • +1

        Hey @blues99,

Really appreciate the thoughtful input, we're def living through interesting times to say the least. Hopefully you'll come back to us as some point in the near future, if not, then happy roasting I hope you enjoy it, I know I still do :)

    • Morning @airlie50501

      Appreciate the double check!

For me to respond accurately from a numerical perspective could you please be more specific as to the exact products you are comparing?

At first glance it appears you are comparing:

      "FBC 1.0" ~50% discount in November 2021 (~9 months ago) for 1 x 1kg bag

      vs.

      "FBC 2.0" 40% discount in July 2022 (~9 months later) for 2 x 500g bag

I believe a more accurate comparison would be to look at our prices over the last few months and it will be clear that this deal is a price reduction for placing 4 prepaid monthly orders as opposed to a single one-time order.

At the big box supermarkets the price per kg for "specialty grade coffee," is $45 (1 x 1kg bag) to $70 (2 x 500g bags), you'd need to drive there to pick it up and wait in line to pay, also it won't be as fresh as our coffee and knowing the % the supermarkets take I believe the quality of our raw product is much higher. This deal means you can get high quality fresh coffee in 2 x 500g (if you're after 1kg quantity per delivery) for ~$33 including delivery. We always put our our best foot forward and will not reduce the quality of our coffee, so this is the best deal we can offer and still stay in business, a larger discount is not economically viable. There are a number of factors which keep increasing the raw coffee price, there have been natural disasters causing a shortage at Origin, Coffee is traded in USD and AUD has dropped in value…primarily I believe the freight line oligopoly is artificially restricting ship movement to increase profit e.g. last year a freight container may cost ~$2,000 to ship, that price is now $10,000+ in shipping. This is similar to the De Beers Diamonds strategy, control supply, then restrict artificially restrict supply and increase prices. The shipping industry is on tracking to increase their profits by $300 billion in 2022 alone. I believe the most efficient way to decrease the cost of living is for the Governments around the world to sort out the surging freight costs…anyway enough rambling from me, hope this clears things up for you :)

      • Thank you for the reply Tom!

I was comparing the final prices of the two deals, yes.

I see your point and have revoked the negative vote on the deal. Some increase was expected. 40% in 9 months was not.

        • +1

Terrific to hear, I really do appreciate your understanding, we'll continue to do our best to continuing holding off increasing our prices unless we really have to :)

That's absolute music to my ears, thank you so much for acknowledging my response and revoking your negative vote, it really does means a lot and does make a difference. To be honest I hadn't spotted the negative vote yet, it wouldn't have changed my response, it just would have made me worry as it would be our first ever Oz B negative vote and if possible we never want a negative vote!

  • Thanks LBC! Enjoyed 1.0 so much that I'm back for another Mystery Flight :)

    • +1

Woohoo that's wonderful to hear, thank you so much for sharing that outstanding feedback and for deciding to continue your Mystery Flight adventure, it really does mean so much to the team :) :) :)

  • Just confirming that I will just be paying for the shipping fee upfront for the entirety of the 4 deliveries and it will not incur any other further monthly shipping charges.

    • Yes, thats how it works

      • :)

    • Spot on, confirming you will not be charged again after you place your initial order :)

  • ahhhh I think I got an order from you for August :(
so it throws off the schedule for me!!

I will just wait for your monthly specials and buy those then, I need to start my next batch in Sept
    oh well

    • Please send an email to tom@limebluecoffee when you get a chance and we'll see what we can do :)

  • Would it be possible to do 1x It's Summer Sometimes Blend, 1x Moments to Memories Blend and 2x Surprise Mystery Flight?

    • That's 100% possible, we can happily make that happen for you!

That sounds like an amazing combo, terrific choices :)

      • I would like something like this too! Was a faithful FBC 1 signup and my wife and I loved our mystery flight blends, but I'd like to try the summer sometimes and moments to memories blends too. We need 1kg/month, could you do (say) 4 x 500g surprise mystery flights, and then a mix of 2 x 500g summer sometimes and 2 x 500g moments to memories so we have two 500g bags coming every month?
Thanks in advance, feel free to PM if easier.

        • Morning :)

Thank you so much for taking the leap of faith on our FBC 1.0, I'm so happy to know that you and your wife loveed our Surprise Mystery Flight experience!!!

I believe we'll be able to make your request a reality for you, could you please send an email to [email protected] when you get a sec?

  • +1

Looks like buying coffee got suddenly very complicated.

    • haha I know there's a decent size deal description, the ordering process is far simpler, I just put as much info as possible so people know exactly what they're buying before they spend their hard earned money. The only surprises we want for Lime Bluers is Surprise Mystery Flight fresh coffee destinations :)

  • Great timing, I'm just about to run out of coffee in the near future so a small top-up from a local roaster and then 4 months of sweet deliciousness to look forward to from Lime Blue. Thanks Tom!

I took a punt and bought a ticket on the Mystery Flight for myself, while Mrs C is quite enjoying the decaf blend.

    • WOW that's terrific to hear, absolute music to my ear, so wrapped to know how much you and Mrs C are enjoying your fresh Lime Blue Coffee!!!

Thank you so much for placing another wonderful order with us and sharing such fantastic feedback, it really does mean so much to us, hope you love your FBC Surprise Mystery Flight :) :) :)

  • Thanks for the email, I somehow missed this post and I wasn't subscribed to your Mailing List.
Would have been super disappointed to miss out on re-subscribing.

    • Terrific to hear it worked out perfectly in the end, as we can't have you disappointed :)

Thank you so much for continuing your FBC Membership with us, hope you love FBC 2.0 even more than FBC 1.0!

  • Ordered 2x subs. Most I've ever paid for coffee up front. Hope it is good!

    • Wonderful to hear, thank you so much for your order!

Really appreciate the milestone vote of confidence, it's an opportunity we won't take for granted :)

  • Am I reading your recipe right in that for milk based coffee, it’s 1:1? So 18g in 18g out? Most recipes I’ve used is 1:2.

    • +1

I realised this and asked Tom about it. Try it out :) I find the flavours are more pronounced at 1:1 (double ristretto) with milk vs 1:2. I think too diluted at 1:2 so that is better for long blacks.

      • Cool thanks for sharing - will have a go when my current beans finish.
