  • Existing AGL customers get a $25 store credit for electricity and $25 for gas when switching to an eligible AGL energy plan

    • Dont know which plan counts towards to "Eligible"

      • +1

one which are most expensive :P

        • +4

This is ideal for churning . $150 credit savings and $200 gift card. Then churn to DODO via cashrewards for $178 cashback, then back to AGL for same offer with partner details , then hopefully shopback will have a CB offer.

Potential savings will offset at least 60% of cost for medium user.

Same concept with health insurance. Churning every 2 to 4 months which offsets > 60% of cost

          • @easternculture: Agree. Time to switch, a month or 2 will not hurt and its basically $200 + $75 + $75

          • @easternculture: With health insurance, can you use the benefits extras for each provider before switching to another and do the same?

            • +1

@fishandchipss: Yes. Make sure you sync churning with providers that reset on jan 1st and July 1st to maximise extras cover

              • @easternculture: Just signed up on 1st July with AGL for my new apartment last Sunday(15th July)…
                only 150$

Crying, as I lost 200 TGG GC

                • @yjxdl: To be honest, i accidently found it .
It was more luck but i too was about to only sign up for $75 x 2

          • @easternculture: Hi mate.

            Might send you a PM.

Like to know more about pitfalls with insurance.. they normally dont lose!

  • I cannot see when this deal expires. Can anyone else see?

  • Can we make up the store visited and agent name? Or can someone share?

    • +3

      I made it up.
      I just wrote john lol

  • Energy Churning just becoming as common as internet plan (NBN or 5G/4G home internet) churning ??

    • Ive been churning energy and health insurance for years

  • Credit enquiry?

  • how long do you need to be with them to get the vouchers?
Without looking I can see they don't have competitive rates

    • You get the gift card instantly after the system generates your online account

  • Thanks op! Signed up and got an SMS with my Good Guys store credit code 5 mins later
Have been comparing energy deals lately since Globird increased my rates by 40%!
AGL is actually pretty competitive and the $200 + $150 sealed the deal.

    • I'm also with Globird and based on AGL's value saver the electricity rates are cheaper (I'm in Vic) so I'm switching too.

  • anything good to get at Good Guys

  • +3

Definitely a stay just until you get the bonus and then get the hell out of there operation when the retailer says this: "Energy Fact Sheet available upon request"

    • Isn’t that illegal now lmao

      • +1

Section 40 of the Energy Retail Code of Practice in Victoria requires retailers for small customers to provide energy fact sheets. Because this offer is possibly deemed a "restricted plan" the retailer would then only have to provide the fact sheet on request… which AGL were refusing to do so via live chat! Sending a letter in a post attention to "General Manager, Group Risk, Compliance & Insurance" asking for the fact sheet for a particular offer ID may have different results? For "generally available plans", the retailer is required to provide these prominently online as part of the online ordering process, and also required to make these available via the government energy comparison websites, as well as other methods of providing these fact sheets.

        • Thanks for all the info dhx including all the detailed responses below. In all honesty, I don't plan on staying and will be looking to move providers as soon as my bonus $150 credit is used up. Admittedly they will get an extra few weeks/month out of me but I'm sure the $150 will more than cover the difference in the tariffs. Additionally I'm also expecting an incentive when I move to my next retailer.

  • Jesus credit came through fast but I had a heart attack shortly after cause I realised I had signed up to my tenant's address.

    • agl said they've reversed everything but does anyone here know whether my tenants existing thing will be affected?. I have no idea if he's with agl or anything.

      • Im moving out of my place in 3 weeks so thinking of applying again for gift card and then cancel the connection when i move. Next electricity and gas bill in 2 months

      • +1

A plea from a renter, because it probably will stuff them round due to no fault of their own.

Please fess up to your tenant and make up for any inconvenience your desire for $200 might cause them.
Give them your mobile number so they can call you in the middle of the night when their electricity stops because you wanted $200. Then do whatever is needed straight away to get things right.

        • Im in a townhouse now but moving in the place i connected using this offer.

Im going to switch my townhouse to AGL and when i move ill call them and tell them ive moved and i no longer need the connection.

The account wont affect the new tenant

  • Does it stack with referral ?

  • Can I do this for one month and then switch out to a cheaper privider

    • Depends on the billing cycle, can be from 2 weeks to 3 months

      • Not sure why you'd have to wait for a billing cycle. The offers (at least for Victoria) state no contract term nor exit fees with the obvious exception of disconnection/reconnection fees that are passed through (typically $0 for remote electricity disconnection/reconnections or for gas: Ausnet Victoria charges $10.69 for a gas meter reading). By cancelling the day after transferring, you should already have your TGG gift card and get billed for 1 day of supply and usage, reduced to $0 by the $75 account credit. The remainder of the credit would be forfeited per condition "This credit amount reduces the price of supply of gas or electricity and is not transferable."

AGL shows up as being the equal most competitive offer on Victoria's Energy Compare site for my location so at least until they bump up variable prices (note: only 5 days notice would be given via e-mail) or a competitor also offers gift cards or other incentives, I couldn't think of a reason why someone would want to quickly churn to another provider.

  • Its asking about agent details ?
    Hmmm????

    • My agent was John, just John lol. It went through and already have my gift card

  • Did the good guys vouchers come through individually or together? I just signed up to both has and electricity and have only received a single $100 voucher? What have others found?

    • +1

      I got a $200 voucher

      • Hi, I got the message for the voucher, but it does not hav the PIN. Did you get a PIN number as well?

        • Mine same i spoke to store they said if tou not used before it will shows in store but you can't redeem online need pin

          • @hurr1cane: Initially they used to give pins however the new batch of vouchers that they started giving out didnt have a pin.

            • @vinnychase: Yes my other friend who join earlier he had a pin mine not so I went to store and confirm is that legit? Just in case lol

            • @vinnychase: Thank you. Without pin we can't use it online yeah? So did you go to store to use it?

              • @Edsanwong: I didn't use it yet but they told me its valid show us sms we will approve it make sure you do only one time use he also mention 😂

Because of that shitty no pin I were not be able to use it otherwise 15% off deal just finished yesterday now need to wait for another deal to buy goods

                • +1

@hurr1cane: Thanks, I am going to store this week. I let you know

  • Wow that was easy, signed up and got the $200 goodguys voucher pretty much instantly.

    Thank you EC.

  • Tried to sign up, did someone get a something went wrong message after filling all the details?

    • Didn't get a message but I had a spinning wheel for ages on the payment screen. Eventually gave up and refreshed. Luckily it saved everything and I was able to resubmit successfully.

      • I tried a few time, it kept saying something’s gone wrong and showing error. Not sure what went wrong…

        • Try a different browser

          • @easternculture: I tried, still the same :(
But thanks for the post op, it’s a good deal

    • Yep, I did it through imessage app and AGL agent sorted everything for me, got my store credits of $100 x 2 (gas and electricity)

  • Just signed up, received TGG codes within about 5 mins. Thanks OP. Only signed up for electricity, no gas.

  • Wow very easy not even a min and received msg $200 credited also check on tgg website all working👌

  • Does the agent get something in return for referrals?

    • +1

Some dude named John is about to win employee of the year

    • The good guys as a company get comission

  • Signed up for Gas.

Does anyone know if the gift card can be used on TGG Commercial website?

  • Store credit cannot be used for apple products how annoying.

    • Worked for me on an iphone.

  • I have a gas plan with AGL but moving to a new property soon. If I sign up for energy & gas plans with AGL for the new place, do I get the $200 + $150 deal too?

  • +3

Hey OP, The link doesn't mention the $75 agl credit for each service. Where can you find that?

  • If you have a Seniors card, AGL offer a $100 sign up incentive and electricity rates are a little lower. Only way to find the offer is via the Energy Fact Sheet page and selecting 'Residential Seniors Saver' in the Energy Plan drop down box. Distributor dependent.

    https://www.agl.com.au/terms-conditions/rates-contracts/ener…

  • Anyone knows does AGL do credit check?
Also once switch to AGL, do we need to call previous provider to stop the bill?
    Thanks

    • No credit check for me and you don't need to contact the previous provider unless you have a contract with them.

  • Signed up last night but I still haven't got the SMS for the credit yet.. I got the email saying they will send me the credit though.
Anyone on the same boat before? I should just patiently wait?

  • Thanks OP; signed up for switch in August, got an email confirming that I qualify for the TGG store credit but didn't get the sms code. Contacted AGL support and was advised that code will only be sent after my service is activated. Not sure if others had the same experience.

    • Sign up to AGL and get your store credit today.

      I got the code instantly.

      • Thanks; was it for a future connection date as well?

        • Not sure.

    • I put in a connection date of Aug 1 and got the TGG code straight away. Electricity only, no gas connection.

      • Thanks

    • Just received my TGG SMS code. Took almost a day and a half after I initially signed up.

  • I am currently with PowerShop at the moment and it seems that my current gas bill is cheaper than AGL or any other service providers (using vic energy compare). Electricity seems to be on par with AGL.

    • +1

Login to your PowerShop account and you'll see there is a section advising of new rate increases applicable from 1 August 2022. AGL's rates in Victoria for the offers commencing 1 Jul 2022 appear to be slightly cheaper than PowerShop's rates commencing 1 August 2022 (ignoring the small bonus offers they have for paying months in advance). Note that AGL under this offer only have to send you an e-mail 5 days before they increase rates at any time, so you'd have to be vigilant with checking for these "your rates are increasing" e-mails.

      • +1

It says rates are fixed for 1 years in t&c

        • Which market offer has 1 year fixed rates specified in the offer?

I've checked a few market offers that appear to match this $100 TGG + $75 credit offer (TGG not mentioned in these offers though, and no other offer on the AGLs website mentions it specifically either):

Victoria Powercor electricity offer ID AGD395837MR

Victoria AusNet gas offer ID AGD396019MR

NSW AusGrid electricity offer ID AGL376461MRE2

NSW Jemena gas offer ID AGL376568MRG2

Queensland Energex electricity offer ID AGL376481MRE2

Queensland AGN gas offer ID AGL376519MRG2

All have no contract term, pass-through disconnection/reconnection fees (no extra AGL imposed fee) and prices aren't fixed and can be changed with at least 5 days notice (at least for Victoria).

Standard AGL Market Contract T&Cs in section 18.2 state the offer has precedence over the standard T&Cs.

          • @dhx: The plan connected to the good guys offer

The last page before you confirm order says rates are fixed for 1 year

            • @easternculture: Interesting. It appears that the "Basic Plan Information" link on the ordering page that asks for your ID and confirmation has different offer ID that is not published on their website or government energy comparison websites.

              Some examples:

AGLMKTRE0022073 seemingly corresponds to Victoria Powercor electricity offer ID AGD395837MR

AGLMKTRE1222178 seemingly corresponds to NSW AusGrid electricity offer ID AGL376461MRE2

Live chat on the website state that they can't look at or provide basic plan information/fact sheets (so don't bother trying to follow the advice during the ordering process that fact sheets are available upon request?!). I pointed this out too and got no further.

A "plan conditions" link on the same ordering page asking for ID and confirmation states:

"No exit fee will apply if you leave this plan before the end of the energy plan period."

"The rates and charges under this energy plan are variable and can change with notice to you at any time. These rates will differ from AGL’s published variable rates and other rates that AGL may offer from time to time (including under the same plan name). If we vary your rates, we’ll give you prior notice of the variation."

The quoted estimate in the ordering form indicates rates are perhaps the same as the corresponding offers that apply without using the landing page for TGG offer, but it's rather suspicious that the ordering process doesn't provide a fact sheet or other specific information on which rates and terms apply to the offer being signed up for.

  • signed up and also still waiting for SMS

    • +1

Me too!! Lmk when you get the code.

  • signed up 2 properties in 2 different names, both received email but no code via SMS. Also Thanks for dhx post above, went into Powershop account and noticed the rates hiking from 1st Aug. No email communication was sent regarding the increase. Everyone with Powershop should check account.

    • +1

T&Cs at section 8.2a for Victorian offers state Powershop will just publish new tariffs on their website and in a newspaper at least 10 business days prior to the change. It's a customer responsibility to check every mid January and mid June what tariffs will apply for the following 6 months.

  • Thanks OP. Have also signed up. Received the email but no SMS just yet

  • Still waiting for sms. Signed up this morning. Maybe they ran out of vouchers and need to go buy some more from TGG.
Has anyone received the vouchers today?

  • Just got the voucher email confirmations this evening, also still waiting for the SMSs

  • How does this deal works for the existing AGL customers…I have my electricity with AGL and how can I make a best use of this deal….are we eligible for the TGG voucher and AGL credit as well…..

    • Ask your family member to sign up.

      • Can a family member sign up for the same property as a new customer and still get the TGG $200 credit voucher and also $75 credit from AGL

  • Where is the T&C for the $75 + $75? Thinking to sign up. Thanks!

  • Anyone NOT changed because the rates are not as good?

I'm currently with origin and have been for 10 years.

Just want to make sure the gift card isn't a cover up for something else?

From what I could find the rates "look" very similar.

    Anyone confirm?

    • +1

You will have to do your own calculations based om your average usage.

Supply + usage - solar feed in - discount

But with $350 of bonuses, its a lot better than any other plans being offered at the moment

      • Especially if you are planning an overseas holiday for all of August and won’t be using any energy.

  • I signup yesterday
They saying that you get either one you can't get both
Ended, with getting 75 credit on both accounts and also hi give me more 50 credit as i instite him to give me goodguys voucher

  • There was a separate email after signup that confirms if you qualify for the $200 credit to use at The Good Guys
