1/2 Price. Picked up this morning, pretty decent for the price. Stock is limited in many stores but free delivery helps.

GEARWRENCH mechanics tools have all been designed with the professional user in mind to increase productivity, access, and strength. The ratchets and sockets are made from premium alloy steel and feature a full polish chrome finish that resists rust and corrosion. Large, hard-stamped markings allow for easy identification and can be easily recognized as SAE (double line) or metric (knurled line). Additionally, the off-corner loading design puts force on the flats of fasteners for improved durability and reduced fastener rounding.

  • Do you miss the quick release or not really?

Having used and owned both types for many years, I have a slight preference for the quick release type but it's not enough to bother me either way.

  • It's not really half price, you are just paying for what you actually need, because half of the sockets are SAE.

Don't know why they still bundle SAE sockets with toolsets, rather they put more effort into quality than quantity.

Just buy a metric only set?!

Unfortunately lots of things are still imperial.

      • do you have anything that is sae? I've had car, motorcycles, bicycles from Japan, Europe, and Asia. The only thing I ever used sae on was a 1956 Vauxhall - that was about 20 years ago.

Good for you! Plenty of people use SAE still. The world doesn't revolve around your 1956 Vauxhall

@bargone: Half of the machines at work are imperial, I'm still finding the SAE required.

@bargone: Your reply doesn't even make sense. If he needed SAE then it would revolve around his 1956 Vauxhall. Seeing as he doesn't he is merely making a comment. The world doesn't revolve around your trying to be smart comments

Some of us have old cars and motorcycles etc that are imperial, as well as owning vehicles that are metric. So these mixed sets are great.

Gonna pencil that one down to a personal issue, rather than an issue with the product. I use both sets in my hobby and work, so they are both useful for me. If metric is all you want then that doesn't stop this from being a good deal, its just not a good deal for you.

    • IMHO the real thing that makes them bad is they are all 12 point nut rounders. Would far prefer 6 point sockets.

Can we get another 50% off if we ask them to supply it with only the metric sockets? ;-)

I purchased a set - you can add $2 pack of cable ties to get free shipping.

    • +3

It’s already free shipping. Free shipping red banner is hidden behind the yellow one just above the tool photo on left hand side.

    Seems pretty decent price CamelCamelCamel.
