LG Tone Free FP9A Wireless ANC Earphones $209 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi / Delivered @ Amazon AU

240

I was looking at these vs the Huawei FreeBuds Pro, they are about $67 more, but come with an in built UV light to disinfect them while they charge. They have an IPX4 rating also, which Huawei's either don't meet or they just haven't bothered with certification (probably the latter).

Another bonus to these is they have a AUX input on the charging case USB-C to Aux cable in the box (along with a USB-A to -USB-C), which can be used to plug them in to non BT devices and then you connect the earphones to the case and it broadcasts to the earbuds. We have an older Sony 9.4 MUTEKI setup that I can't bring myself to get rid of, it's a tad loud/bassy though even on the lowest settings and night mode, so this will help keep the rest of the house a bit happier, possibly, hah.

Exclusive review from yours truly:
Picked these up this morning, have tested with mowing/snippering, ANC works pretty well, can still hear it a bit, but better than expected. Have come from the Samsung Galaxy Buds+ to these. Definitely sounds better, though my SGB+s would be about 2 years old now.

One of my longest ongoing issues with BT earbuds has been them cutting in and out when i'm hiking/running, which seems to be a common issue for tall people (I'm only 6'1 and haven't had a pair of BT earbuds that didn't have this issue, Sennis, Sony, Samsung, they all did it to me), doesn't appear to be an issue with these. I've just gone for a walk hike to grab a cheap 6pack of Mercury raspberry ciders ($13 atm at Liquorland, they're not bad and 8.2% hah) as a reward for being a good boy and tackling the yard, and they didn't break up once. I think this is the first time in my life I've not had some BT ear buds not break up constantly with my phone in my pocket - use to just hold my phone as I walked to deal with it, but no longer!

Also tested out the ambient/conversation mode and it worked a treat, didn't have to take the earbuds out to talk to the lovely liquor lady, could hear her clear as day (ambient: conversation mode).

Am yet to test them for a phone call yet, but I'm sure I'll get at least one spam call today. I'll be a few ciders in by then, so I'll be up for a good yarn with whoever it is trying to get my precious apple gift cards today. I'll make sure to ask them how I sound.

From my searching, it looks like the last time they were on a deal (at least at JB) they were 239.

Looks like you can nab them on Amazon (the FP9 anyway, not sure the difference between FP9 and FP9A, probably just the Aus version?) for 205.46 delivered, but looks like delivery date is somewhere around the 4th to the 11th of august at present.

I'm a derp, they are on AU amazon also.. 209 with free delivery

The link you post is Amazon US, which comes to $189 with conversion rates and does post to Aus but obviously will take a while. I personally find Amazon US posting to Aus is not as reliable as the items on Amazon AU that are from the US but are sold on AU website.
Anyway, Amazon AU has the same price with JB (which is also the lowest as per Camel x 3)
    One day delivery.
The UV thing is interesting, I pulled the trigger. Thanks op, will see how this goes.

Thanks man, I must have derped. Couldn't find the FP9A at all on Amazon earlier šŸ¤” - I just went in and picked them up earlier today. Coming from Samsung Galaxy Buds+, I think the sound is better, though my SGB+'s would be about 2 years old now and left ear had gone a big crackly. Have just done my whole lawn while listening to them with with ANC on, could still hear the mower/whipper a little bit, but not much.

~1 hour of mowing, they've gone from 100% to 89%, so looks like possibly ~9ish hours playback on them, which is more than the 6 hour listed with ANC.

      • Haha all good.
That sounds pretty positive with the lawn mower then!
I just did the lawn yesterday with a 4 stroke engine and the Bose 700 over ear, and I could still also hear the engine, probably 1/10 if I put it on a noise scale with 10/10 being bare ear with engine.
If this can do as close to the Bose then I might as well sell the Bose šŸ˜†
Iā€™m pretty excited to wait to test mine tomorrow (still on the way with Amazon)

        • I've got the Bose QC 2's - i'd say if the bose noise cancelling is a 10, the Tone Free's is about a 6 or 7. I don't think earbuds will be able to be quite as good as over-ear for a long time.

  • just bought from amazon same price, ta. hope they're better than the sennheiser CX plus which were shit so i returned for a refund! My $60 Soundpeats true air 3 for $60 were better than the Sennheiser, i was shocked! anyone give review for sound quality pls

    • I've been using them for about 3 hours now, they sound better than my Senni momentum true wireless 2's, sony wf-1000xm3 and samsungs galaxy bud plus. I have a pair of bowers & wilkins p7 (over ear headphones) and they are closer to those than the previously mentioned (almost on par, i'm a bit impressed, but i'm also an old man so maybe my ears are garbage).

      • wow why you have so many.? yeah me too i have tinnitus it sux ass

        • I blame ozbargain mainly :P

  • Thanks for the experience review
How does it compare when connecting to the SGB+?.. I love how seamless they are connecting to my Samsung phone, but I lost mine a week ago.

    • I don't have a samsung phone sadly, so not sure if it's any different from using a non-samsung android to a samsung. You open the case and put your finger on one of the earbuds (while they are in the case) to put them in pairing mode. When paired, it brought up a pop-up for downloading the LG app via google play. It was a bit different to pairing the SGB+s but not by much. I haven't tried pairing them with multiple devices and swapping between them though yet.

  • I posted the last deal.

Pretty happy with them, but I have one annoyance with them where if there is windy weather, the ANC fails and amplifies the noise (and yes I was not on ambient). Deactivating the ANC solves it.

Also OP, maybe include the FP8 and FP5 as they seem also have dropped price

    • How's the mic on these? Looking at using these with my PC as well for meetings.

      • I think it is pretty good. I have a few conversations with them and i was told they can hear me fine.

  • got em after price match with videopro

  • $188.10 with the JB July Frenzy coupon code

  • Grabbed these from Amazon yesterday. Headphones are top-notch, sound, ANC & passthrough are all great, sadly I have an issue with my left earbud which constantly drops out and gets random static right before the dropout. If I randomly move it around or re-adjust the earbud comes back but that's not ideal. I will return and try my luck with JB.
