this has been like this for weeks, waitlist.
    It felt suss…

Also, it's prob not Duo Nova.

    • +2

Latching on to this comment to play the antagonist - I can find no record online of a 5.7-6L version of this product, other than the link in the OP. It doesn't seem to exist anywhere, not even Instant Pot's website.

      • NGL, if that is the case, it might be a short gamble for $20 credit when amazon cancels the order :)

      • +3

I'm going to say its this from the US website
        https://www.instanthome.com/product/instant-pot/duo-crisp/ai…

        6 quart is about 5.7L

      • +1

Its just the 5.7ltr version with an air fryer lid.
The 5.7 version certainly does exist, bought one in the last Prime sales.

        • how is the air fryer for 5.7L?
is this the version u bought?

          • @squidz: Nah mate, I only bought the standard 5.7 version, barely three weeks ago, feeds a family of 4 (when we can find one), and the missus loves it.

Good piece of kit, no regrets, even though I'm kinda eyeing this one up.

            • @Magpye: ah ok, cheers
i have been using the 5.7 standard for months.. with lots of accessories.

Great price but you should know (IMO):
    * Not the best air fryer
    * Not the best rice cooker
    * Not the best saute`
    * Decent slow cooker
    * Decent dehydrator held back by surface areas available
    * Great pressure cooker
    * Great steamer
    * Great for Sous Vide
    * Great for keeping dough at constant temp (starters, sourdoughs, etc) Just use SV mode and partially submerge / float glass container.
    Haven't made Yoghurt - can't comment.

    • ngl, i have been using my duo nova every few days for pressure cooking only

    • Oh wow, didn't realise it could sous vide! Pretty handy little device - almost makes me want to switch out from my Breville Fast Slow Pro, but its working fine for now and I have a Sous Vide stick…so I won't.

    • Agree on all counts. Yoghurt is pretty good in it but I can't seem to get it the thickness I like. Might be more a process/recipe issue as I think the temperature isn't an issue which is all the device is doing.

Granted I should say, I use the air fryer component the most. Probably daily. Not the best, but perfectly fine for reheating food for lunch. I probably use it more than my microwave now. I could get a better stand alone air fryer, but for all the other things it does well, I am perfectly happy with the performance. Not trying to make a whole meal for five in it though.

      • +4

you can strain your yoghurt, or cheat like I do and just add milk powder to the milk to increase the thickness.
I tried to make yoghurt once with my 8L nova. 8L was probably too much in one batch but consistency was good.

        • +1

          Agree, milk powder ftw.

      • How long do you set it for? I do mine for 12 hours. It isn’t as thick as the Procal, we buy, but it works well for smoothies etc.

        • I set mine to minimum of 14 hours to increase sourness.

    • +2

Agreed its not the best air fryer, having said that its not bad either.

I would say its very similar to the ones you get from Kmart/Kogan.

I love the Duo Crisp because I saved so much kitchen space. I can air fry, pressure cook, steam, Sous Vide using the pot.

No need to have multiple appliances in the Kitchen.

    • +1

May not be the best air fryer but it can definitely do the job. I've been able to cook rice pretty decently (high pressure for 5 minutes at 1/1 rice to water ratio) and steam veggies as well (I like them firm so I only let it count down for 10 seconds or so).

Slow cooking has been a bit hit or miss so far because it's highest temp doesn't get high enough for some stuff I want it to do but you can work around that.

    • I have the 8L one from the prime sales event (paid around $220 but $190 after cashback from CR and SB gift cards) and I think it's still a decent air fryer though as long as you don't overfill. I've used it for things like party pies, chips and chicken nuggets with no issues.

Sous vide works great, used it for a 800g ribeye the other night and change it over to air fry chips while I ice bathed the steak and seared on cast iron.

Haven't tried most of the other functions yet.

  • Great price!

  • Great price, actually it might be a price error , cheaper than the nova which doesnt have the air fryer function

    • Or the sous vide!

  • Really good price - I needed the 8L capacity of mine which is just the pressure cooker version, otherwise would've taken this model

  • What's the difference between this and Duo Nova?

Is this better than Nova or is it the other way around?

    • This is the higher spec model as it includes a second lid for air frying / roasting etc.

      • Thanks Mate, but some of the reviews suggest it doesn't have enough steaming functions, non-stick pot, etc.

I'm wondering if that's the same with Duo Nova as well? and if those things would be an issue at all?

        • It includes a stainless steel pot which I haven't had a problem with. It steams pretty good - we do dumplings etc often. You set it to steam and set a timer, not sure what else you could want from it?

You can buy a non-stick pot seperately but I haven't felt the need - it would not suit the majority of my inserts which would scratch the surface. If you wanted to primarily sautee / slow cook / PC then it might be desirable.

          • +1

@Martyroz: Yeah great inputs and it definitely makes sense to save space in the kitchen with the 2 in 1 model

      • It is the same as the duo nova in terms pressure cooking? If the fryer is not amazing then I’m not too fussed but I don’t want a mediocre pressure cooker AND a mediocre air fryer

    • This one also has sous vide!

      • Thanks Mate, can you do yoghurt in the sous vide mode?

        • Yeah you should.
Sous vide basically just holds a temperature you set

  • +1

Thanks, just ordered. Hoping it's the real deal.

  • thanks OP. I bought a duo nova 2 weeks ago and was so pleased with it (prime had this model going +$80 the duo nova on prime day). Going to buy this and sell off my duo nova.

  • Just a note for anyone considering this vs the non air-fryer one, it has a heap less pre-programmed functions for the cook mode than for instance the Duo Nova

This might not matter to you as you can probably do a manual version of them but you might miss the convenience (and I'm not sure Yoghurt is possible with the Crisp).

I think these are the features.

    Crisp Nova
    Pressure Cook X X
    Saute X X
    Slow Cook X X
    Steam X X
    Sous Vide X X
    Air Fry X -

    • +3

Not sure this is correct. There are many recipes for the crisp with rice and poultry. It actually says rice maker and yoghurt maker in the description.

    • I don’t think you can Sous Vide with the Nova?

  • Can somebody please comment how many people this size pot can feed? I heard that this size pot is ideal for 2 people especially on air fry setting. Cheers

    • I find it highly depends on the people :). The documents say for four but I assume that means a family of two adults and two kids.

    • That makes sense to me re air frying. I have the 8 litre and currently have 2 chicken kievs and 6 nuggets air frying and it's pretty much full.

  • +1

Stupid question - how do you back order?
Can't see any price on my end, or order button. There is only "Temporary Out of Stock" and add to wish list button on my end.

    • +2

Looks like they stopped taking backorders, was able to add to cart/purchase earlier.

  • I bought the duo nova cooker and the separate air fryer recently for 120 ish each.

Not sure this combo unit is a good buy, the whole point of air frying is the air circulates around, under the food etc

I cant see how air will circulate in this dodgy modded version where they just stuck a fan on top.

    • +1

Aren't most airfryers like that though? Fan/coils are at the top and food is propped up via a tray to let the air circulate underneath too, but primary heat is from the top?

    • It comes with this basket which has holes on the bottom + you can add an additional layer with the steam basket disk thing.

I'm not sure how it circulates the air around but it does do it decently, if you put a single layer of chips at the bottom and a single layer on the steam basket disk thing, all of it gets cooked well.

    • Is the separate air fryer any good?
Where did you get it from? Would you happen to have a link handy?

I bought the Duo Nova in the recent Amazon sale and it's been great… would be nice to have the air fryer option too.

      • Yeah pretty happy with the air fryer, it was on here a couple of weeks ago for prime day.

  • +1

Does anyone think this will actually ship?

    • Based on experience, with Amazon AU it can take up to 3 months before they decide "nope we lied" and cancel.

      • +1

Dang, was going to return my duo nova but will wait and just resell if this ever ships

        • I bought 2 duo novas but had condensation build up behind buttons and LCD on one. Returned it though hoping to use this instead because it had sous vide!

      • Got an email about it the other day:
“We're encountering a delay in shipping your order. We'll make every effort to get the delayed item to you as soon as possible. We apologise for the inconvenience.”

I guess gotta wait for another 2 months lol

  • Did anyone get theirs yet?
    No update lol

  • +1

I just got an email saying this shipped and arriving tomorrow lol

    • +2

Same, bought it just to make quick winter stews too! At least there's plenty of other features to try out

  • Mines arrived today. Praise the lord. Now time to sell my duo nova.

  • +1

Delivered today, as described. Better late than never Amazon!

    • Honestly did not think it would come

  • Does amazon allow returns if it's unopened. This thing is huge, and I just realised lol

    • +1

Yes. Sometimes they charge shipping if you just say change of mind as the reason
