AmEx Statement Credits: Spend $200, Get $20 Back @ Vintage Cellars

270

Was just looking in my AmEx account and saw this offer on my QFF Discovery card. Got it on my primary and all 4 supps so it looks like a good time to stock up on Coles Myer gift cards.

Looks the T&Cs have been updated such that they no longer explicitly exclude gift card purchases. That said, in the past even when they were listed as ineligible you could still purchase Coles Myer gift cards in store and redeem the Statement Credits.

Terms & Conditions

  • Offer is limited to one credit per Card to which the offer is saved and only spend on this Card counts towards the Offer.
  • Excludes transactions where you do not spend directly with your Card to which the offer is saved, in-store at Vintage Cellars or online at www.vintagecellars.com.au. Offer valid at Australian locations and website only.

So many alcohol offers… wish we could swap offers with others that's more relevant for different people

  • Not on my Amex Qantas Ultimate card, seems targeted offer to certain cards.

  • Got on 2 out of 3 cards. Thanks OP.

  • Wait VC sells Coles GC?? Can we buy them online?

Last time I checked (about a year ago), Vintage Cellars sold Vintage Cellars gift cards and Coles Group & Myer gift cards in their stores.

You cannot buy gift cards on Vintage Cellars online, because the Vintage Cellars website does not sell gift cards. You would need to go Coles Group's dedicated gift card website, which is excluded from this cashback offer.

    • I can confirm myself that I got the notification instantly after purchasing $200 GC at my local VC using AMEX.

  • Appears on all my 3 cards, Gold CPA, Explorer and Essentials cards. It also appears on the 3 supplementary cards for these accounts. Supplemental cards have been excluded in many cases for recent offers but not apparently this one.

Yes, I normally use these Vintage Cellars Amex offers to purchase Coles Myer Cards which can be used later at various places, Coles, Coles Express, First Choice Liquor Market, Liquorland, Kmart, Myer, Officeworks, Target and Vintage Cellars.

    • Is it in-store only?

  • +1

    Yes in-store only.

Just a warning last time I tried to use a similar Amex offer to buy multiple gift-cards with different Amex cards the manager of that VC insisted that I could only buy one per transaction so I went to another and they were ok with it.

  • Can you purchase Apple GC with Coles GC?

    • I've done so in the past.

      • Perfect, thanks!

Thanks, got it on all 15 cards.

I didn't get it on my platinum edge - probably because I already spend too much at VC already lol…?

  • Not appearing on my Platinum Charge either :-(

  • Coles Myer GC are behind the counter and you have to ask for them at Perth CBD.
No issues purchasing and I got the "You just used your Vintage Cellars Amex Offer" email immediately.

I went to my local VC today and was told that the only Gift Cards they were selling were the Vintage Cellars cards and that I would have to go next door to Coles if I wanted other cards. I haven't had any issues previously at that store.

I'll try another the other local one tomorrow.

    • My local said someone cleared them out yesterday and had none left. They also said to go next door to Coles not understanding the cashback offer is only their stores, lol.

I'm not trying other stores as will waste the savings in petrol getting there.

Got my 6 today at the 2nd store. The guy behind the counter said I can't do them all in one transaction to which I said "Perfect!" I have now received the emails.

So it looks like it is very random as to whether they have stock or not. There were some left at the Ashburton VIC store this afternoon.

        • Thanks for the store name :)

I was passing by the Ashburton store so tried there. I assume from your comment you wanted to split transaction as 6x $200 onto one $1,200 gift card, rather than having 6x $200 gift cards - which is good if they had let you since leaves more gift cards in stock for others.

However, I think that store changed their rules today, as the guy there said I can only do one transaction as in only use one AMEX per person. It was a very confusing conversation. So only got to use the offer for one AMEX card, but better than nothing.

            @blah-blah: Glad to help.

It might depend on who serves you, that was the story that I got last time and they would only do one per transaction. This time the guy serving was happy to give me the 6 at once.

  • Bought my 5 Coles Myer cards from the Coorparoo, QLD store. Looked like they had about 30 behind the counter still after I was finished. Haven't received the AmEx email myself but they're always hit and miss with the emails now.

  • Not many stores have stock in Sydney

    • Checked couple of stores over the weekend with no stock. -Darlingurst and Rushcutters bay.
They asked me if its about the AMEX offer. It appeared that they intentionally didn't want people to buy these cards coz of Amex offer.

  • First store out of stock, sales staff unhelpful/annoyed about the offer.
    Second store very friendly.
Just check around non-shopping centre stores and they are happy.

    • Can I please know which store is the 2nd store ?

      • I'm interested too, If you don't mind sharing?

  • Has anybody received the credit yet?

    • Yep for all the cards

    • Yep. I bought the cards on a Saturday morning and the credits were applied by Monday evening.

    • Have you received it? I am still waiting for one of them on the supp card

    • I bought on 7th Aug and no credits yet. :(

    • I didn't receive the credit either. When I contacted them, the usual answer "If you saved an offer and made a qualifying purchase, credit or points should be automatically applied to your Card Account within five business days, however can take up to 90 days from the offer end date in some scenarios. If you have not received your points/credit after this time, please let us know."

    • Looks like the transactions done on the 7th were not given the credits? Transactions I did before and after that date have received their credits without any issues. Also got the 90 days scripted answer from Amex when I queried them.

      • I managed to get one account manually credited. Next time I asked they must have changed the script and told me to wait the 90 days.

      • That's a shame. I bought on 7th as well and no credits yet :(
