Here's a comparison between the SSDV+200, Crucial M4 and the Sandisk Extreme SSD.

    http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/storage/30751-crucial-128gb-m4…
    http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/storage/36529-sandisk-extreme-…

Verdict: Difference between the M4 and Kingston is like night and day. If you're looking for a budget drive, but not willing to compromise on performance, you might want to pay a little more and get the Sandisk from Shopping Express.

  • oh wow, i didn't realise the difference in speed, thanks guys!!

so where's the cheapest place to get a 128 or 250gb crucial M4 drive?

  • finally a SSD under $1 per GB, BUT it's not a reliable OCZ.

  • I think people need to stop labelling a brand of SSD is better than another brand. It really depends on the series (and the size of the SSD).

Kingston SSDNow is below par, but HyperX is quite good.

OCZ has cheap/low cost SSDs as well - those are slow and unreliable.

240 GB second-gen SandForce SSDs with Toggle NAND are currently the fastest. Sandisk Extreme is the most cost effective one at the moment. If you don't like SandForce chipset, then Crucial m4 256 GB (Micron) is probably the best one to go. Intel 520 and Samsung 830 are very good (but Intel one could cost a fair bit).

120 GB SSDs… they cannot match the performance of 240/256GB SSDs.

  • Whatever the performance, I am giving a positive vote for just the bargain price for this 120gb SSD.

  • warranty?

  • Who knows how truthful they are wih this deal… I dont trust this store after the previous shenanigan 'NAS' deal where there was a "I'll take your money now, even though we say we have stock (but dont)… but we'll only let you know a couple of days after you've paid us and then decide to refund your money, but you'll get that a few days later"… It almost kinda irks me with the likes of Mega Buy… Buyer beware with this co, and dont expect much of an after-sales support.

    Spoken from experience.

    EDIT: Added last sentence.
