Seems like a decent powerboard, even has USB-C ports, allegedly usually $139.99.

Lots of holes, lots of fun.

Edit: Please do some research with previous deals before buying - lots of serious complaints about their products that are concerning.

    inb4 burn your house down

    • Can you please explain why this would happen?

      • +2

Do those plugs look like Australian standards compliant to you

        • xiaomi ones arent complaint but see how quick last xiaomi power deal sold out …..

          • +1

@garage sale: Yeah my xiaomi board clearly doesnt have an australian compliance plug given it doesnt even have insulated pins. Somehting that became a requirement like 20 years ago.

Also, a chunk of the plastic broke off when it fell a small distance exposing the internals. Something iv'e never seen happen on a power board before.

        • When even the plugs look like they're screaming it's probably best to avoid.

        • I mean, i have literally no idea so.. yes?

        • the power plug has insulated pins so seems SSA compliant vs uninsulated pins like on xiaomi which is designed for chinese market to chinese standards.

          • @garage sale: May I ask what do you mean by "insulated pins"? Love to be educated 😉

            • @Italkdigital: the black plastic insulation around the base of the plug pins (vs bare metal pins)

            • @Italkdigital: https://i.imgur.com/FtTrdMF.png

Left is the old style. With the cord not fully plugged in you can touch the live pins.
Right is what replaced it. The black insulated part of the plug is exposed if the plug is only partially inserted. Much safer.

        Pretty much the obvious.

Its got eight outlets and a bunch of USB outlets, have them all running and thats quite a bit of juice moving through it.

Combine that with no-name Amazon listed engineering, all it takes is some sloppy soldering bridging a connection and you got yourself some excitement!

If you're gonna buy something no-name that plugs into the mains first question you ask is if it has a RCM mark, if not don't buy it

        • Its got eight outlets and a bunch of USB outlets, have them all running and thats quite a bit of juice moving through it.

It does claim to have overload protection. Would be interesting to test if it actually does turn off.

          • +1

@Duff5000: overload on power boards with 10amp plugs limits to 10amps 2400W ….power points are wired to 20amp circuit breakers ….if you want to test plug 2 toasters or toaster and kettle i to it ……should get you over the 10amp mark.

  • +4

Perfect. Use this with heymix charger, to make sure the burns happening.

  • +9

Thanks, needed something for a fire insurance claim! Bought 5.

  • +3

does it buzz like the rest of their products?

  • +8

The SAA approval listed on the image, 203369, is unrelated to the product. It's for a TCS-20WACA, which looks to be their 20W USB-C plug-in adapter.

    • +7

There really ought to be a 'non-compliant' or 'dubious compliance' tag on these products.

OzB doesn't technically have a duty of care, but it's really the right thing to do.

      • +1

At least an awareness, but not banning of these posts

      • technically you can't legally sell it unless SAA approved ………..

  • +3

    Instantaneous combustion?

  • The outlets are close so can’t use all the 8 , i would say it can accommodate just 5 or max 6 plugs.

  • Don't know why people are so worried about fires from this. I have been using their chargers for quite some time now without any problems.

    • +1

Heymix is just the official Ozbargain meme now

    • -1

Well one HEYMIX charger works as advertised, with no fires, then all of them must be good. Bulletproof logic.

      • -1

It sounds like many caught on fire… So how many caught on fire?

        • -1

Dunno. Probably not heaps of them, but if I am running a charger I do like that it is very unlikely to catch fire and corners have not been cut to reduce costs. Consider that all of these cheap chargers are sold for a fraction of the price in China, so that cheap $30 charger actually costs like $6 to make. Corners need to be cut.

You are much more likely to run into issues with high pitched coil whine, early failure, charger running hot (chuck these out) or tripping fuses.

I have purchased 2 cheap chargers in the past, not HEYMIX, but good chance from the same factory. Both had issues and have been chucked out.

Buy something good and you can use it until USB-C is replaced with the next standard.

        • +2

You only need one (your one) for it to be a problem.

        • +1

Not sure. All the records were lost……..mysteriously when the house burnt down.

      • 25% of their chargers never worked for me. The other 75% don't work as advertised. I actually bothered to go through the returns process for a $13 BOGOF deal with Amazon so they'd get the message that they need to vet their products a bit better and stop wasting people's time. Same goes for cables.

      • If you are making an accusation that this charger starts fires, then it would be your responsibility to prove this claim either through some non-compliance design or incidents that have happened as a result. Talk is cheap.

        • If you don't want to look at the mountain of evidence that these chargers aren't safe or reliable and you want to go out and buy them that is on you.

    • one of these meme things that just perpetuates ……….

  • Can someone share any links to the fact (I searched and I couldn’t find any), or just jokes or hearsay about fire hazards?

    • Look at the previous deals that have lots of terrible feedback.

      • I can see a lot of good reviews. Do you have any personal experience or feedback with their products?

Edit: Anyway, just ordered this powerboard. Specs and user feedback look great. Thanks OP.

        • I bought 2 65w chargers last year, no issues with them.

        • My issue is I want to know how THIS product functions….. The USB chargers could be rebranded OEM devices and therefore a particular subset of devices may be fire hazards…..

    • There's been a few reviews of their other cheaper chargers burning… a few .. not all

I would buy this if I didn't buy a few chargers in the last few months

  • I really want to like this. The product would clean up my desk space and cord management by a whole lot if I properly mounted this and ran ties along the back of the table. But the comments and reviews don't inspire much confidence. I would use 2 less power bricks which would be great.

    • +1

Same here. Well, I just bought it. If you are interested, I could give you some feedback after I used it for a while.

      • Honestly, I think it'll be fine. It's like using no-name PSUs - you hear lots of stories of them being unreliable (personal experience included), but then the majority of the time, they are fine. It's only when something bad happens, you hear people talk about it. I'm not ready to take that risk yet.

        • +1

It's only when something bad happens, you hear people talk about it

That's because if it does go bad it can kill you.

Honestly I don't care how much of a deal it is, its not wrth it to me.

  • Also white one is 74.99 with 25% Coupen

  • +2

I have this, don't recommend it. Been having issues with the usb-c ports to charge my phone.

  • -4

Guys don't fall for their 5 star reviews. I was checking reviews on their chargers and found that Heymix has a group of buyers or self created accounts that constantly posts fake 5 star reviews on their products. Completely manipulated listings and seller.

Also, Heymix is a Chinese company sitting in China. IMO if you suffer fire hazard or damage your expensive device then you are paying from your own pocket. They sell these blasting chargers with no liability.

    • belkin has a group that posts fakes on competitors products also, same group that says Grilld use fresh meat (actually frozen), etc , etc ……….. I think people need to look at engineering / teardowns rather than just review if they are worried.

  • guys this burned my house down RIP BOZO take the L :(

  • +2

I bought the non usb c version of this during prime day and it feels really really cheap. It feels really hollow and the plastic is really thin.

  • Came here for burns comments, leaving satisfied.

  • It's not the same brand, but it will surely be up to the same standard.

    https://youtu.be/rwEh4jsVew0

    • diodegonewild youtube channel is the best for tearing down dodgy chargers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMmySM2nar8&list=PLfUGOPyKWw…

      • Yeah but is it a calm and authoritive Scottish man?

    • the no name brand fails at 2000V …..chances are your TV and some other gear has failed if you sustain 2000V in the 240V circuit in your house …. yep, many things that size will arc at 2000V ….looking at the insulation of my knipex 1000V pliers …. to get SAA approval, I think they go higher than 2000V and heymix has SAA tick …..
