VINTAGE: The 2019 growing season started with mild weather and below average rainfall. Some late spring rain provided a bit of relief from the dry conditions. A heatwave in January was luckily too early in the ripening cycle to cause any damage to the fruit. This was followed by a very mild and dry finish to the vintage, allowing good hang time and flavour development to the smaller than average crop.

STORY: Some of our McLaren Vale parcels stand out from the others, these have more intensity, tannin, and acidity. These parcels are kept separate and a higher proportion goes into new French oak. The resultant wine has fantastic complexity, length and will age well over ten years – a great one for the cellar!

NOSE: The nose offers elegant notes of cherries and raspberries with a touch of pepper and other spices, as well as some toasty oak aromas.

PALATE: The palate is rich and elegant with lots of superb fruit flavours, hints of minerality, and well-integrated oak, followed by great structure on the lingering finish.

PAIRS WITH: Try it (as I will be doing this evening) with some Grilled Lamb Chops, Bulghur Pilaf and Green Salad.

CELLARING: Drink now to 2030

            @sammajohnson: Thanks for the kind words. I was thinking we can run the Village Green next weekend. Been loving that wine at home. Most of it is off to Canada at the end of the year but I'll see what I can eek out.
            Sadly, the Shiraz Cab has all gone now, so we won't see that one again (that was left over from last year's Canada shipment, as was this one :-)

    Other than signifying that the wines are/were being sent overseas, is there any other difference between export label wine and regular wine?

      Some of the labels we make are for specific markets or distributors. The reference refers to the label as opposed to the wine itself.
