Considering a Dyson V10 in 2022?

Hi All,

Only very recently I decided to upgrade my old Dyson V6 with something newer. I was tossing up between a V10, V12 and V15. I had used a family members older V10 and whilst it was a improvement I didn’t think it was significant enough to justify the $1000 purchase when for an extra $300 you get a V12 or V15 which is 2-3 generations newer.

Then as fate would have it, OzBargain unveiled a deal on V10’s for just under $700 so then it became a $600 price difference between the V10 and newer V12/15 models. Naturally this was enough for me the pull the trigger.

The nice surprise was that the V10 that showed up must be an “upgraded model” in 2022 because it is significantly better than the earlier V10 I had used previously. Battery life is great, suction is more than enough for our family of 3 + 1 dog. However the holy grail of changes is the “anti tangle brush head”… between my partner and the dog who seem to constantly shed hair, I haven’t had to pull any of it out of the vacuum since upgrading. I’ve never been so happy to have “cheaped out” on a product in my life.

I thought I’d post something on here because Dyson don’t seem to advertise the big improvements the current V10 model has over the original (perhaps to discourage people from buying the cheaper model).

Note: I don’t work for Dyson, I’m just a happy customer.

The anti-tangle brush head just started being included with Dyson models, lucky timing.

I have a V6 and from the YouTube videos I watch , the pickup since V10 onwards is 99.99%, so really I think you got the best value for money.

It seems your right, I just checked the Dyson website and they now reference the anti-tangle brush head.

Also I should have probably noted that I ordered the Absolute+ version. I don’t believe it comes with the base “Animal” version but I could be mistaken.

  • How do you know if you are getting the v10(2022) that the OP is referencing, seems confusing to me trying to understand dyson's variations.

I guess the anti tangle brush?

Dyson now mention the new brush head on their website. If your buying from a 3rd party then it might be impossible to tell without opening it… it doesn’t even say it contains the new brush head on the box!!!

  • I'm more interested in that sub $700 deal you got. When was that? can't see less than an expired $719 atm… That's almost my exact scenario…

Dyson had it reduced to $799 from their website which overlapped with a $100 previous Dyson customer discount. It was heavily targeted so I didn’t bother posting to OzBargain at the time.

  • Omg this is exactly my scenario -

Family of 3 + dog who sheds and my v8 is near 5 years old and the battery has degraded with low suction. Was hoping to upgrade to v11 or v12 but no deals lately.

Your post has got me thinking if I should jump onboard the v10 with anti tangle brush??! Looks like it does work wondering in picking up the hair.

Honestly don’t even think about it… it’s a no brainer, especially if you can get it at a discounted price.

      • Is the anti tangle brush called ‘hair screw tool’ on Dyson website?

        • No that’s a different attachment. The anti-tangle brush is a revised version of the original full sized brushbar that comes with all dysons.

  • Does the anti tangle brush head work well for very long hair? A few days ago the brush on my V6 actually stopped spinning because of the tangled hair (I cut and untangled it not even that long ago!) so I am intrigued by this.

Yes it works amazingly well. I had to pull apart and clean the brush head every time I emptied the V6 previously. Like I said in the post above, I haven’t had to pull any hair out of the V10 since we got it over a month ago. I’ve just noticed Dysons website now references the “new anti-tangle brush head”. Make sure you get that one.

  • I've got the Dyson V15 and I love it!
I also bought a spare battery to charge plus spare filter too.

  • I would’ve loved the v15 but v10 with anti tangle brush at $719 convinced me. So far so good, hair brush does work well even for long hair. I’m a heavy user of my Dysons so I hope this unit lasts me a good 5 years

    • When did you get yours? Just trying to work out exactly when the anti-tangle brush head started being included. Mine doesn’t even state it in contents list on the box.

      • Hi mate, I'm confused with the terminology of this all. The Hair Screw Tool (https://www.dyson.com.au/hair-screw-tool-971426-04) describes itself as the 'anti tangle brush bar'. So is what you are referring to this or not?

I'm trying to work out whether i get the V10 absolute for $679.15 or just go for the Cyclone V10 (2022) through Dyson for 799 (https://www.dyson.com.au/dyson-v10-vacuum-exclusive) which comes with the "Hair Screw Tool".

Any clarification would be great, I'm in a similar boat with you and dogs so definitely want the best for that.

        • They are completely different. The hair screw tool you linked, is much smaller and designed for use on furniture ect. The new brush head is a revised version of the standard motorhead. It’s used for floors and carpets but the hair doesn’t tangle like it did in the original design.

Update: look for “ Now with the latest hair de-tangling technology.” on Dysons website

    • I've had four Dysons over the last 20 years and the V15 is the best one.
No tangled hair at all. I use my Dysons daily.
