I just broke my screen on my S20FE and am considering getting one of these instead of repairing - anyone know how much to repair a S20FE with a genuine screen and keep the IP68?

      • Thanks.

      • $285 for an S3 replacement. Bargain.

    • It's more of a downgrade if your S20 FE isn't the 2020 4G Exynos variant.

      • +2

I have the 5G 256 snapdragon and was quite happy with it.
Going to just get it fixed for $325. It is probably 18 months old or so, maybe they can swap a new battery in while they have it apart.

That still makes me double take; I stopped following Samsungs chips back when Exynos was WORLDS better than SD; and at some point it's very clearly flipped that script.

    • this or Pixel 6a?

      • pixel has a better camera

        • +4

Not nessisarily. Pixel's have always had the shtick that they 'only had 1 camera and could get better-looking images than any other phone'. But with the Pixel 6 & 6 Pro, they substantially improved the main sensor. (they've been using the same main sensor since the Pixel 2 in 2017!) But the Pixel 6A uses the exact same sensor as older Pixels, plus an ultrawide. The S21 FE, on the other hand, has the same main sensor as the normal S21, (which was also used in the S20 IIRC) practically identical ultrawide sensor, (the lens assembly is a little bit wider on the FE for some reason) but a weaker telephoto lens than the S21 is the only noticeable drawback. (same lens as the S20 FE, of which I own, not quite as sharp as the wide camera, but DEFINATELY worth it compared to digital zoom)

Cheapest retail price is $1047 at Officeworks.

Time for a price beat before they adjust the prices.

    • Or sign up to Samsung mailing list for $50 off, if that still works

    • Office works will price match don't forget :)

  • Can someone enlightened me on which of these phones have snapdragon and exynos.

I've tried looking but find it really unclear.

    • +3

      Australia models have exynos

  • +5

Exynos is the worst of both worlds, price of a Snapdragon and performance of an MTK

  • +4

Have had one of these for about 4weeks now and more than happy with it, don't find any issues with Exynos 2100 cpu.
Coming from my previous phone which had an old snapdragon 835 this is a huge improvement in speed etc and for an average mobile phone user like myself it's more than sufficient. Picture quality from the camera ain't to bad.

Not the S21 FE but this video compares the S21 using the Exynos 2100 and Snapdragon 888 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zg-anmd-V-Q

Can anyone weigh in on whether the 6 vs 8gb of RAM is noticeable on the 128 vs 256gb version of the handset?

    • Depends on how you use the phone. I have a 8gb a52s, barely scratches the 4gb mark let alone 6gb.

    • +1

Its literally 100% about how you app switch.
Even if you use one specific app like a madman; like…. if you spent 10 hours a day on discord; but nothing else? Then 2GB would probably run 'fine'.
Load up another 2 apps you switch between? And you'll be waiting for reloads.

I use my web browser, and my chat client, and sometimes a camera; as such 4GB of RAM is almost never filled. I see reloads rarely.

Just think of RAM as affecting how your phone feels 'around' an app, rather than in your favorite app.

    better off buying a realme

    • Which phone? I haven't seen them anywhere in Australia. I was looking at the GT Neo 2T but was turned off because it only has a CN Rom. Probably half the price of the S21 FE for similar performance and improved battery life. GT Neo 3 looks great but 6.7" is a bit big for my liking. They all seem to have good battery life, something which most Android phones are failing at.

      • Kogan or Ebay. Reeblo might have some too, battery life on those things last for ages.

  • what should i get from upgrading from samsung s9plus?

  • +1

Went from XR to this one for last year offer at $500. Pretty disappointed with the battery life for average non gamer usage.
Cant get a day out, if its not on power saving mode which defeats 5G.
+ve are nice display and camera.
-ve is the exynos power hungry chipset

    • You can put it on power saving mode and keep 5G on.

  • Back to $1099 now.

  • Back down

  • Deal is finished - back to Rip Off Retail Price

    • Yep. Annoyingly i didnt buy.
