Facebook Won't Pay For Videos with Multiple Languages

My wife has a blog on Facebook and gets paid for most of her content. It is mostly in Tagalog with a little English here and there. Sometimes Facebook refuse to pay for the content claiming multiple languages.

Is this actually legal? Seems discriminatory to me. Other people use Tagalog and English together without a problem.

What do you think? I think it's absolute bullshit.

Facebook appearing to be less than extremely ethical? Shocked, I tell you, shocked!

What does the contract your wife signed say or agree to by clicking a button/making an account? Did it include a clause saying something along the lines of "We (Facebook) can do whatever we want?" Most probably.

Legal? Do you want to drop $100k to $500k on suing Facebook?

How do you know the other channels aren't facing the same problems?

I'm sure it's very frustrating, but unless your wife's channel is large enough to have a direct account manager, you're yelling at clouds.

might not have to shell out on the suing yourselves, drop a tip to whichever regulatory body this falls under in oz and let them do the hard work (i'm assuming, despite the language, that the woman is an AU citizen and produces it in oz, so probably falls under law here), might be that their name / reputation is enough to get the zucc to play by the rules.

  • Easy solution, start your own platform if not happy with the ones available ;)

PS. Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram, TikTok, etc can do whatever they like to whomever they like without explanation, plenty of demonetisation to go round :/

Can't she just think of Tagalog words to replace the English? And how popular is it, maybe it should be seperately translated into English. Or if it really is news worthy discrimination, you could try and court free publicity through media attention. Get the English translation done first, then make a complaint about how discriminatory it is on Al Jazeera, you'll have a million new subscribers on your English blog overnight which will more than pay for the cost of a translator. Register your girlfriend as a business so you can claim deductions on the costs too.
