Looks like I got lucky :)

      • +7

That’s cos you have lured us all to buy amazon Gc via CR

        • Curse TA and the money we've received through CR deals. I'd give it all back for a fiver /s

      • How can I get this luck?

        • +3

Lure JV into the Penalty Box again. :)

      • I got the same eligible notification but says I cannot use it at checkout

  • +4

I wonder if they could actually attract 5000 real new customers…

    • +3

Like am eligible on my third real account

      • You only live thrice?

      Your friend’s birthday?

    • To give Jeff Bezos more yacht?

  • Thank you OP

  • I like basic savings like this rather than trashback offers

Cheers. Worked for me in NZ

    • Cool! I’ve been waiting for another NZ VPN deal!

  • It says I am eligible. But the code is not working for me

    • Read the FAQs:

For eligible customers, the promotion code NEWGIFT should be entered only once at the checkout. If you enter the code more than once, the following message is displayed at the checkout.

"The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase."

You can make the purchase and promotion will still be applied. You can check your eligibility on the top of this page.

  • Code not working for me.

The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase.

    • Same for me. I assume 5000 code cap may have been reached so deal may have expired. Others may confirm if it still works for them

    • Same for me

Sorry! you are not eligible for this offer.

  • Thanks TA! Qualified and checked out!

if i go through cardrewards, at which stage i can enter the code 'NEWGIFT'?
i was charged $50.1 at the end.

  • +1

I bought one at the last promotion for the first time but they didn't give me credit

  • +1

Same. Code Cannot be applied and I qualified for the credit.

  • +1

Not so attractive when you read the fine print:

This promotional credit entitles you to $5 off a future Eligible Order. An “Eligible Order” refers to a purchase on Amazon.com.au of any item that is shipped and sold by Amazon AU, and excludes products sold by third party sellers including Amazon US (Amazon Global Store) even if “fulfilled by Amazon”, digital purchases such as e-books, products that are not in new condition such as renewed products, subscriptions such as Prime Video and Audible, any gift cards and postage or delivery rates.

  • Thanks OP. got it :D

  • +1

    It didn't accept the code

    • Just check if you're eligible: New Eligible Customers means customers who have not previously purchased Amazon Gift Cards on Amazon.com.au or the Amazon App

  • +1

If you get the error “The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase”, despite being eligible it may be because you already inputted the code. There isn’t a visual prompt when you put in the code saying it has been applied, so I put it in a second time and got the error. I still got the promotion confirmed despite the error.

    • +2

When you successfully put the code in, a confirmation message appears on the right-hand side under the Order Summary - something like "Qualifying offers: GC promo credit $5.00".
I didn't notice it until I put the code in a second time and got the "…cannot be applied to your purchase" error.

  • +1

Remember, applying such credit may make cashback illegible.

Although that assumes amazon category is right and is not 0% category in the first place haha

    • +1

good for groceries which is usually 0%

  • Lmao after buying the $50 GC Amazon put my account on hold for unusual activity.. But guessing it is because I haven't placed any order through Amazon before and they are reviewing my docs. Hopefully gets sorted out soon to get this deal (after missing other Amazon deals several times.. they're gone so quickly :(

    • Yeah, I've had the exact same thing happen to me once before, which is why I was concerned about OP's comment about "new Amazon accounts".

It is dangerous to create new Amazon accounts & use them for buying new gift cards as the very first transaction, because it sets off some automated Amazon processes & they will immediately lock the account.

      • So that process is expected. Hmm that sounds like a bit relief. Actually that's just my account but haven't ordered anything before lol… not a new one created for this deal~ but lets see what's coming next :)

  • +1

Mine also said I was eligible, then nothing at checkout when I applied the promotional code. Tried it anyway based on comments above, since I've never purchased an Amazon gift card. Just got the email… no $5 bonus. Might try Amazon Support.

    • Same, plz let me know how you go!

    • +1

Edit: promotional credit came through within hour after purchase

    • I cam up eligible, but when I add a $50 gift card, I can't for the life of me see where to enter the code at checkout

  • So I guess this is a marketing post for potential new Amazon customers?

  • The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase.

    No deal for me

    • I got the same text but since the landing page told me I was eligible bought it anyway and got the credit

      • Dang… that took lots of guts.
        Well done mate

  • Targeted.

  • +2

Jef Bezos donated $5 today. Am I lucky

  • +1

Can't quite find where to enter the code?

    • +1

At checkout, I think after you've selected the payment method.

      • Thanks I'll check it out

    • me too….get to checkout but nowhere to enter the code

      • There's a place to enter it after the payment details

  • Not eligitble

  • +3

For those eligible and struggling with entering the code, try on a laptop/desktop - once the code has been entered you'll have "Amazon GC promotion" showing under your order total on the right hand side.

  • "The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase."

  • Somehow I'm eligible, thanks OP :)

  • Just wonder if anyone has already received the promotional credit? I have not got it so far. Purchased on 23 August.

    • Anyone??? Still nothing, I guess I get a lemon………………

      • have you received the email Benefit Confirmation for your Order ?

        • Yes I purchased onTues and got the confirmation on Tues

          • @O K: Thanks for your reply, yes, I have received it later on.

  • Interesting:
    - I bought an Airbnb gift card back in April this year, when there was a promotion to get some sort of credit by purchasing eligible gift card
    - When I clicked on the link, it says I"m eligible"
    - Bought a $50 Amazon gift card
    - Got email that says I should receive the promotional credit.
    - Haven't actually received the credit, but will check back in an hour

    Guess I'm lucky?

    • also keep in mind this has been going for a few weeks and it says "first 5000 customers"

      • Still working. I just used the code and got the credit.

  • +1

Promotional credit email came through a minute after the gift card was sent, and applied immediately. Thanks!

    • Update: ~12hs email received, but no Credit in my acc…

      (Also phys Gc arrived.)
