Cheapo Kmart Drill Chuck Replacement

I got this cheapo drill from Kmart a couple of years ago (in a toolkit), which worked fine for my scant needs (the odd hole, but mostly cleaning the car carpets), till I burnt through the chuck. Is there an easy (and cheap!) way to replace it, or need I (or should I) get a proper Ozito from Bunnings?

you could remove and replace the chuck (there should be a screw right down inside the chuck) but for a cheap drill it is probably easier to just buy a new one

    • What's the place to look for them (chucks)? Are they standardised?

see if you can get the chuck off first (look at youtube). then look for an appropriate sized (10mm/13mm) chuck at hardware store or ebay or aliexpress

How much drill could a drill chuck chuck?

    Bin it.
I love repairing stuff, and hate waste, but unless you get a free chuck from somewhere it isn't going to be worth it.
That said, I tossed a dead drill the other day, so ask around and a friend might have one taking up space in the shed.

What’s wrong with the chuck? I’m having trouble imagining how you ‘burn through a chuck’.

    • It lost its grip. It seems eroded (perhaps bc of rust).

      • Nah, you were right, @Euphemistic: I didn't "burn through the chuck;" I burnt through the brush I use to clean the car with, whose pin that attaches to the drill is spinning inside the brush's plastic. Now, that's a much cheaper replacement. I'm glad you raised the question, @Euphemistic.
