Just ignore the fact the station is a year behind schedule…

I’d be blaming Rita Saffioti for the delays. She is the one in charge of the project.

        Yeah, that's fair.
Choosing an international company was probably the first mistake.

Admittedly they're shooting themselves in the foot now bring on so many Metronet projects online at the same time and expecting all the cost estimates to remain the same.

They're creating their own competition - pulling resources from one project to feed the other.

        • The treasurer should be on top of that.

      Make that two years!

Remember a year ago? Borders closed… Not much point rushing the airport line then. Now at least it will be useful.

Haha, on one hand you have the government trying to look after the taxpayers
The other is the taxpayer/government servant going after the government

Looks like melb is one of the few cities left without a train line to the airport.

    • Tulla isn't on the way to anywhere else noteworthy though, so it's effectively a line to the airport alone.

Personally I've been fine not funding a train to solely service airport employees, tourists, and Melbourne residents using it once a year on their holidays, who want to travel along that route and aren't happy with the Skybus for some reason. Business travellers will presumably continue to use taxis paid by the company, and anyone who's heading in a direction other than the city probably won't switch modes either.

AFAIK the new airport rail project isn't even planned to be faster or cheaper than the Skybus anyway
