        • Thanks so much for the info. Much appreciated. Cheers

  • Anyone had much experience with this phone? My mate 20 pro just started playing up need a new one.

    • Reviews are overwhelming positive! It's a good phone :)

I have one and I haven't had any issue with overheating like some people say, the battery is ok, its not fantastic, but its not terrible either. I haven't had any issues with the fingerprint scanner like some people have. It's been fine and for the price I think its a good phone. Ive had it about 4-5 weeks.

    • I bought one for my mother with the recent deal from Google. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/goto/721513

Can vouch for it, feels premium and battery life is great. I am a Samsung S21 Ultra user and prefer Samsung's Android on it over Google's but that's just a personal preference.

    • I got one at launch. The back is all plastic and scratches very easily. Get a case ASAP. After turning off some features (eg song identification etc.) battery life is acceptable. I can get from 8am to midnight with about 30-40% left whereas my old Huawei P30 would still have 60%. Fingerprint sensor is ok. I have not experienced any overheating. Performance is good enough for everything I could imagine doing with my phone. Charging speed with a 65W charger is fast enough for me. I find the screen a little dim when left on the adaptive setting. Camera is decent, I find the look a little more processed than some phones. Overall it's a solid phone with lots of little AI powered bells and whistles you never knew you needed.

      • Isn't the 6a rated for 18w fast charging?

        • Probably, my charger is 65w, I just plug it in and watch it go. It's full in an hour or two.

I don't think it has face unlock (the Mate 20 Pro does).

The Pixel 6 Pro does (but the Pixel 6 doesn't).

I had to sell my Pixel 6 when I realised this (and go back to my Mate Pro - purchased Dec 2018 and still going strong)

Isn't face unlock a software feature? Why it wouldn't be available on this phone is beyond me

      • None of the current Pixel line has face unlock, even though they all should to make up for the really hit and miss in-display fingerprint sensors.

    • Its a brilliant mid range phone for $500-600, but its really not a competitor for the Mate Pro range. Theres a lot of little Google touches that will make the overall user experience pleasant, but if youre any kind of power user, this phone will disappoint.

In my opinion its a worthy Pixel 5a successor, not really a Pixel 6 family member at all (bar some software features).

      Pros:
      - Great camera array
-Stock Android with nice little UI features (Magic Eraser, Assistant, Now Playing etc)
-Plastic back with metail rails, means its very durable and looks nicer than the Pixel 6/Pro IMO.

      Cons:
-Battery life is only acceptable, even with 5G turned off 3-5hrs max Screen On Time.
-Display locked at 60Hz even tho its a 120Hz panel, noticeable if youre coming from a phone with a 90+hz screen
-Fingerprint sensor still very hit and miss in any kind of direct light, indoors its fine.

  • Any suggestion for a small android phone but powerful and long battery life? Use as a second phone.

      Pixel 5 all the way

    it says unavailable

  • any differences in warranty for uk stock?

    • i think only 1yr warranty instead of 2yrs for local stock??

      • i just read through the page, didn't find any warranty info. can you share where you see 1yr warranty?

        • Grey import

  • This is a great phone, excluding it's vulnerable Gorilla Glass 3 screen.

  • Anyone has experience with the camera? Looking to upgrade from TCL plex

    • Foiyohhhh best camera on the market

    • Best in class for the price.

    • Best camera setup youll find for this price bar none.

I honestly don't think this is a good deal. Australian vendors have been dropping prices below this price and with them, you're guaranteed warranty in the country, which is especially important on a phone known for QA issues. I'd wait and buy Aus stock.

      Where are the better deals?

    • I feel pretty much the same way.
The only problem is now that i am ready to buy it seems all the local deals have disappeared!

    • True, but this price is yoyoing for some reason, it's not available that cheap right now

  • Selling a brand new one - Aussie stock for anyone located in Melbourne.

    Got from Telstra rewards store.

Sealed in box $500 - DM me

    • Turn on DM's :)

        Done sorry

  • Given it doesn't come with a charger anyway, aside from warranty length (assume google will cover worldwide) is there any issue as it seems much cheaper than standard retail of $749. Thoughts? Or maybe wait til 7 comes out and there'll be further drops on local stock prices?
