Have a PS3 (and wii…), not sure I need another. Anyone own PS3 and Xbox360 and can convince me why I need to add this to the mix (I do have a spare HDMI cable coming out of my AVR so it's ready and waiting…
I had the original xbox - did enjoy a bit of halo and splinter cell I must admit.
I own all three current gen consoles and the 360 and PS3 are pretty similar. I would say that PS3 has a marginally more varied catalogue of exclusive titles. The 360 does have some great exclusives though: Halo, Gears, Dead Rising, Forza, Mass Effect (the first one) etc. An incentive may be Halo 4 is coming in November and looks to be very, very cool. I also personally think the online multiplayer is a whole lot better on Xbox (and worth the cost of subscription). XBL just seems a lot more stable than PSN. It also just seems like more of my friends play XBL and more people in general in the world are on it. I also think the Xbox controller is far superior to the Dualshock 3 for shooters (those Dualshock triggers are horrendous). Overall I prefer my 360 as a gaming machine and my PS3 gets more use as a media centre. However if you are happy with PSN and you don't have a bunch of mates ready to join you on XBL, then I'd say there is no huge rush to buy a 360. Hope that helps!

I predict a flood of 4GB Xboxs, Kinect units and software disks, as well as old discarded whities, appearing on ebay in the near future. Not mine, but I just have a feeling that some of the bargains will be recycled to ebay in the near future.
Thanks OP. Bought one for my 2-year old. I reckon she'll enjoy jumping and dancing around - but if she's still too young will just hang on to it until she's ready for it. Or sell it if the wife negs it. Even if I take a $50 - $100 knock I reckon it's worth it in case we / she like it. I don't really care if new tech is coming out soon - I doubt it will be at this sort of price (for a good few years at least) - plus the games for this machine should get cheaper - esp secondhand. Plus, chances are the new console will use the same kinect anyway (?). I reckon it should be good for us for 3 - 5 years at least.

Yes but did it come with the Kinect and games and the 3 months Live card? If not these add up to a LOT more than $50 extra. If it did come with these then it was an exceptional deal.
Most people dont want Kinect and or the games with it unless you have little kiddies or something, sure you can try sell them on eBay but you wont get much due to all this surplus stock. I still rember that $100 xbox deal, probly greatest ever.

Can confirm also a Trinity. Took me a while to identify as I didn't know what to look for. For other people, look on the back of the console (NOT the power supply) and if it says 10.83A then it is a Trinity, BUT if it says 9.86A then sadly it is a Corona.

Not necessarily, according to my research, models produced from August 2011, and later, are likely to be Corona. Mine is 18/7 and the power pack is a 9.86A but the Console is 10.83A so they were in the changeover mode then. Now, the likelihood that all 500 on offer came from the one batch is low, maybe but unlikely. Remember these are likely to be unsold odds and sods from the stores that have been stockpiled at the warehouse. Check the amps on the console, the manufacture date and the Lot number, 1130x is good.
It may be a case where they are sending them out in chronological\serial order, therefore some of the units may be from August 2011 or later and hence Coronas. Who knows. If we are all lucky then they will all be Trinity units, fingers crossed. I can only see 5 reported Trinity units above, which is 1% of the 500.

One was in the box with the console (Kinect Adventures), the other was in a separate envelope from the box (Kinect Sports).Yes 2 games, one in box and the other in a white padded bag, separate to the main box.
Was the white padded bag inside the cardboard box which had the Console box or was the padded bag like a separate package handed to you?
My console box was inside another plain cardboard box and there wasn't anything else inside with it, nor was I given a separate padded bag or any other package.
Separate white package, but delivered at the same time.

What is the advantage of the Trinity over the Corona?
Google it! Trinity can be 'modified' via either an inserted board or changing the firmware on the DVD drive to allow it to play backed up games, run 3rd party software or play games off the HDD without inserting the original disk. Corona has had the Hanna chip removed and these modifications do not work at present due to the 'glitch' exploit not being available.
Naturally, these things should only be carried out after the warranty expires and also only to play backups of originals you actually own as playing pirated games is illegal. Another word of warning, any modification can get you banned from Live.

I'm selling mine as mentioned earlier - it will still be a couple of years before it is suitable for the little one so will get a Wii instead. I've put it on Gumtree for $230 negotiable but if any Ozbargainers are interested I'm happy to just get what it cost me ie $210. Got the console, kinect etc today in the big box, the game & Xbox live came yesterday in the white padded bag, so I was worried for a day there! All good now & looks like a Trinity too: 2011-07-19 MFR date and 10.83A from Lot 1130X woo hoo!! Very happy :)
My delivery all came in a big brown box, which had the xbox kinect package, then next to that an open spacer box with the other game + xbox live card in it.
