How'd Google work out for you?

New car, used car? Why you need a broker?

    • Why you need a broker?

Cos the OP is too lazy to call a few dealers himself and check some forums to see what other people have paid for a similar car recent.

You think someone that posts this type of question on a forum is really going to use google to find a car broker?

Just go to a dealer, pay full retail and wait 12 months it’s easier.

  • I've used motorscout before

    • How was the experience ? Did it work out for you ?

I tried using them for a mid-level Kia Cerato, and the best offer they could get was $500 with a 12-month wait time.
It's still a bullish market for dealers and they're the ones sending in the bids, so if you're trying to get a popular car / model, don't expect much.

Or you know, completely avoid because he’s a broker broker who just palms you off to a local. Not to mention he’s a bit of a tool.

From what i've heard of the people that used them they were pretty good at getting a cheaper price.
And i think the OP just wants to buy a car as lazily as possible so wouldn't mind going down this option.

        • When have these people been using them? Brokers are great when there’s bulk supply and you can play dealers against each other. When there’s a big wait list already why would a dealer cut their margin by giving a broker a discount?

          • @Euphemistic: There's been a few posts on Ozbargain regarding using him and they seem to be alright.
Admittedly during covid Brokers were largely redundant. Now that supply chains have caught up they're relevant again as we hurtle towards a recession.

Lol they still haven't, only on outdated or unwanted models

Don’t know where you get that idea. Popular models still have a long list. Yes, it’ll probably ease a bit now interest rates are going up and people can travel (almost) freely again. They’ll spend their dosh on other things. Meanwhile supply starts to catch up, but it’s a long way from back to pre covid where caryards were almost desperate to get rid of stock.

I ordered a vehicle in late Jan. Waiting until early next year now despite being initially told October. Others ordering the same are being told even longer wait times now.
