Its cat litter, not much to say, not an all time low or anything but a decent price to stock up.

Its always that price, I receive it from Amazon ever 3 weeks. $18.90 in March 2022 but all other Orders have been $17.54 with S&S.

My cat loves shitting on this.

more serious note - what's ozbargainer's preferred litter?

Crystals is my default, but it leaves a very wet mound of crystals in 1-2 weeks.

Tofu litter wins but my cat refuses to use it

    • Breeders choice is my go to, after heaps of trying different things, it weirdly seems to be the best at holding odours even though its just paper, bonus points for the environment too. Buuuut cats can be picky, my mums cat wont go near the stuff.

    • +1

Wood pellets are the best at masking odours.

      • Yeah I found one made from recycled wood pellets recently but can’t remember what it was. It was really great though, barely had any smell (less than others for sure), and crumbled into a powder when having absorbed urine.

I bought this huge Breeders Choice bag on Amazon and am still going through it. I find it to be mediocre. It starts to smell pretty quickly (few days) and seems to track out of the litter box a fair bit. I go through a lot of it too. I will go back to wood or corn pellets in my next one I reckon.

    • I went through them all and personally prefer the 'Worlds Best Cat Litter' unscented version which is a clumping litter made from corn. Holds smell better than breeders choice and easier to scoop. Last forever too, I go through a bag maybe every 2 months or so. I wait till it hits the ~$15 mark on Amazon and stock up.

      • Just about to get a cat so doing lots of litter research. This brand seems way more than $15. What size pack comes down to that price?

      • what size and colour pack lasts you 2 months? I see this comes in 3.63kg ($21 @ woolies) - and then 6.35/12.7kg at amazon.

        • The 6.35kg red pack comes down to $17 ($15 with S&S) every so often then I grab 4 packs, I suggest setting yourself up an alert on 3xcamel. I have one of the cat litter enclosures from Kmart and I fill that with one bag which I then scoop every other day, after about 2 months when it's getting pretty low I'll empty out the remaining and clean the litter box out.

          • @Cheaplikethebird: Any idea what's the diff between red and green?

            • @Mazozb: Looks like green is a mix of clay and corn. Not tried that one but I was using a clay litter before this (Tidy Cats) and I found that the clumps were way bigger and so you would go through a lot more.

        • I just head around to my local pet stores and ask them to price match Amazon usually.

Bought a 6.35kg bag yesterday from PetStock, asked them to price match a third party seller on Amazon at $16, to which they said they couldn't go below their cost price. I've had trouble with third party sellers, so getting it locally at their cost price (~$25.50) was pretty good considering you can pay close to $40 at other places.

      • Does it stay within the litter box? I found that with breeders choice its literally everywhere around the house..

        • I have one of those mats in front of the litter box which catches 90% but the rest doesn't get further than a metre from the litter box. When I was using Tidy Cat my cat would come sit on my lap with litter still in his fur. It does get a little dusty after a couple weeks but really all this means is old mate comes out of the box with a dusty face which is kinda hilarious so I don't mind.

          • @Cheaplikethebird: I am happy to change the litter every week if that helps?

            • @xtommyk: It would be too expensive. Trust me it's fine, I've not seen litter further than a metre the litter box. Of all that I've tried 'world's best' tracks the least IME.

    • We get corn litter for our cat, either the Wee Kitty or Minx brand, whichever one is on special at the time.

Clumps well and flushable which is handy.

    • Tidy Cats 24/7 Clumping Litter - performance

It clumps nicely, leaves virtually no residue and smells great

    • Catmate pellets + sifting tray. Especially effective if you live in a small place. 0 smell. Can get away with very little tray maintenance also.

  • I've somehow embraced catmate pine litter mixed with this litter as the pine keeps the smell neutral while the paper prevents the cats from flinging sawdust out of the Kmart litter box.

The mix eventually ends up in the front yard as bushmulch.

    • I like that. We've been getting the above paper litter for our kitten but wanting to move to something that clumps and covers odour better. Our cat doesn't bury (he tries, bless him). I'll check out pine.

  • about a year ago $16.50 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/632170
This is normal price, a bargain price will be below $18

    • It scrapes under your definition of bargain with S&S. I wish I could hold a year supply of cat litter but I’d need a shed lol.

      • i have 2 cats, i came across the $16.50 as i got my 2nd kitten
        S&S still going, its good

        • Not sure if you are still aware but S&S follows the current pricing not the original sign up price.

  • we've been using ALDI Clay Clumping Litter and haven't tried anything else. Wondering why it's not mentioned here at all. Not even sure how it does on masking the smell as I have nothing else to compare it to. Might grab this and try i guess.

    • How much is it? I've been using the clay clumping litter from Woolworths, $8 for 15L, or 0.53 cents per 1 litre

  • I got this on Amazon last month for $10 wishing I bought more than 2.

    • +1

I ordered the same deal $10 per 30L but my order was not honoured. Maybe cos I ordered 16 units.

    • +1

Where was your post?! I would've stocked up hard on that deal!

  • I used this Breeder one for years. Worked/ works great.

Then I moved into a house, and then shortly after changed to the wood pellets ones, that normally uses a double tray. Was ok for around 4-5 months, then one of my cats developed a rash, started in the ears, then later stomach and parts of legs. Since both my cats had gone from indoors to outdoors, I went through a million things to find the cause. Took over 2 years to pin it on the wood based litter. Back to the Breeder one advertised here, and rash finally gone.
